I'm hardly her number one fan but I can't see how getting rid of her is the answer. They just don't seem to know what they're doing. It's an absolute mess whichever way you look at it.

Cameron had no choice but to offer a referendum - UKIP were gaining too much ground and he wanted to stop their popularity. He thought, by having a referendum, it would shut all the UKIP supporters up.
He could proudly say, ‘look, I gave you your referendum and the people voted to remain, now fuck off’

Only the people voted to leave.
So he had to fuck off.

TooTrueToBeGood · 15/11/2018 14:04

No point in living in a democracy otherwise

We're meant to be a representative democracy, not an absolute one. If we'd stuck to that this shitfest would never have happened.

Oblomov18 · 15/11/2018 14:04

Could anyone else have done any better? I think not. She was dealt shit cards at the start.
(I'm no fan of hers!!)

Who could have achieved a better deal? Name them? I'm all ears!

Bluntness100 · 15/11/2018 14:04

Jacob Rees Mogg is as dislikable as they come. The twat has just stated someone like Ester mcvey could be prime minister. Can you even imagine.

I think the public support is turning towards May because no one likes to see someone being bullied like this, and being made a scape goat for it. It's appalling behaviour.

BloobCurdling · 15/11/2018 14:05

Totally agree - she has steered a course through an impossible minefield, which took a ton of guts and a will of steel, and no one's going to like it, but she didn't create the situation. There is no Brexit deal or non-deal that isn't going to piss vast numbers of people off and be a massive compromise. Because Brexit is a shit idea with no sensible, useful outcome. It's just a case of steering through this bit, then picking up the pieces.

Cameron did not call the referendum thinking we'd vote Leave. He called it to shut the complainers up. When that went horribly wrong someone had to take the reins, and she's done it as well as anyone could have and she must have astonishing mental and emotional strength to put up with how she's being treated.

I also hate her politics and her party but I can't help admiring her and think I would actually like her Blush because she's so no ballsy. and I love her clothes

BreconBeBuggered · 15/11/2018 14:05

Yes. Detest the woman and all she stands for, but would rather she stayed than risk J R-M or Boris slithering their way into Number 10 and making things even worse.
I don't know how anyone could have done any better than May, frankly. If you're standing in a shower of shit, don't expect to see rainbows.

BloobCurdling · 15/11/2018 14:05

so no ballsy Confused so ballsy.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 15/11/2018 14:06

I blame Cameron and Osborne

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 15/11/2018 14:07

and I love her clothes

Me too.

BloobCurdling · 15/11/2018 14:08

I do agree there are parts of her job she is not great at - like communication and flexibility. But if we get someone like BoJo or Corbyn as PM we'll soon realise what totally fucking hopeless looks like.

Blinkingblimey · 15/11/2018 14:09

She deserves more than a bloody medal for at least attempting to pick up the shit dropped by all the other self serving, posturing loons. The deal IS shit but it’s prob the most we were ever going to get!! Anyone still shouting either ‘get on with it’ or ‘just hard Brexit’ can have no love for this Country as far as I’m concerned.... but maybe that’s the point.

merrymouse · 15/11/2018 14:10

remainer MPs, Cabinet Ministers and other politicians should have supported the Brexit process

The problem isn’t ‘supporting’ or ‘not supporting’ the process, it’s working out what possible process would leave the U.K. better off outside the EU.

MarshaBradyo · 15/11/2018 14:11

Cameron’s to blame and he skipped off into the sunset
At least she’s trying to resolve the mess he left everyone in

Bluntness100 · 15/11/2018 14:14

I also think she deserves a medal. She has no need to do this. She could walk. I honestly think she's doing it to deliver on what the uk voted for and trying to get us th best, not for political gain.

Those constantly attacking her are just looking at feathering their own nests. I don't think any one can look at this and say yeah, x, y or z could have done it better. And that's why no one has attempted it.

Also, do we remember the alternative?

Andrea "I'm a mummy" Leadsom?

beachysandy81 · 15/11/2018 14:16

I am not a conservative but I do admire her for staying put and trying to sort this out when most others would have resigned by now. To get any deal at all while there are so many different factions to please is a miracle. I do think the public need to vote on the final deal.

After this is all over, whatever happens I will not be voting Labour again. I will only vote Lib Dem or Green. I have no trust for the main parties of this country.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 15/11/2018 14:17

Trouble is that because she has been quite good the leavers will blame her. If we had had BoJo take over the leavers would have been in uproar after a short time because we would probably have left by now, with no trade deals, companies leaving the country like fleas on a dying rat, no plan for the Irish boarder etc - it would have dissolved very quickly into a situation where leavers would have to completely face the fact they made the wrong choice. That is the only way to take the wind out of the sails of populism and these hard Brexiteers - give them a taste of the shitty spoon. Then we could have gone back to EU with a new PM in a few years and attempted to rejoin (back seat of course) but by then everyone would have had quite enough of ghost unicorns and the lack of NHS staff... I'd rather that than the future decades of slow dissolve we now face.

MadeleineMaxwell · 15/11/2018 14:18

We-ell...maybe, maybe not. It was still May's decision to try and keep the Tory party together instead of booting the Brextremists out and having some rational debate. It was still her decision to trigger Article 50 without having any idea what they wanted or could get. There was no blueprint for this situation, so her Premiership is her responsibility and hers alone. It was still her decision to press ahead with this farce in the first place. She didn't have to do any of these things, she chose to.

It's ultimately Dave's fault, but May is more than complicit. So is Corbo with his 3-line whips and wet lettuce of an Opposition.

OTOH, even I felt a twinge of pity for her at PMQs today, getting shanked from all sides and Voldemogg getting his handbag out.

drspouse · 15/11/2018 14:20

I repeat, she didn't have to trigger Article 50 and she has just made it all worse.

dawnacorns · 15/11/2018 14:24

She couldn't have just said d'you know what, let's not do Brexit though madeleine

OP posts:
Dandeliontea123 · 15/11/2018 14:24

I would never vote for her (or any Tory) but I admire the way she is still hanging in there in the face of so much criticism from all sides.

Blinkingblimey · 15/11/2018 14:24

Voldemogg 🤣... a brief smile on my face.

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 15/11/2018 14:24

Except that this deal leaves us worse off, we have all the obligations of the customs union but no say in how it is run!

Yes and given the NI situation that is inescapable under Brexit until we have a FTA with the EU.

So we can either crash out completely and destroy the peace process in Ireland OR we can have something like this. What alternative magic solution can you find?

dawnacorns · 15/11/2018 14:25

I think she tried to get on with the job. If she'd just sat on it and not triggered Article 50 she'd have been criticised for that anyway.
