to ask when you put your Christmas tree up?

The Christmas markets are up in my town centre now, the Christmas lights are on and several houses near me have got their trees up already! This is very very wrong, we're not even halfway through November!

When does yours go up? Mine goes up on 1st December.

1st of December since we've had the DC. It used to be a couple of weeks into December but since DC Christmas seems to begin much earlier.

A house a few streets away has had their outside decorations up since November 1st and we deliberately drive past on our way home from swim club because the DCs love it!

Shoxfordian · 10/11/2018 07:31

5th December because the 4th is my birthday

moomoogalicious · 10/11/2018 07:34

A couple of weeks before Christmas.

thebear1 · 10/11/2018 07:34

I have an early December birthday so no decorations up before my cards come down. Used to leave it until about the 20th December but now I have children it is earlier. I would be fed up of the tree by the 25th if I put it up now.

Raven88 · 10/11/2018 07:35

I bought some tinsel that I thought was pretty and that's up, that is a test for the cat, but my tree will be going up in December. I've always thought that you should wait until after Remembrance Sunday to put the tree up.

FrangipaniBlue · 10/11/2018 07:37

Before December!

Mine will probably be next weekend Grin

BroomstickOfLove · 10/11/2018 07:37

The weekend before the winter solstice.

EnglishRose13 · 10/11/2018 07:38

The first weekend in December.

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/11/2018 07:39

Ours goes up in the first or second week in December but traditionally early December is very wrong as it’s far too early and sometimes considered bad luck. Traditions evolve so I wouldn’t get too worked up about others putting their tree up early.

TheGoogleMum · 10/11/2018 07:40

Pre December feels way too early! We'll usually wait for first convenient weekend of December and won't avoid making plans for decorating

ILoveAutum · 10/11/2018 07:40

This is very very wrong, we're not even halfway through November!

Best you let all the Christmas Markets throughout Europe know then.

🙄

Mine usually goes up the first weekend in Dec.

kaytee87 · 10/11/2018 07:40

We buy our tree on the first Saturday or Sunday in December and usually decorate it that evening while listening to Christmas songs and drinking hot chocolate (for me) and mulled wine (for him). Ds has been too little to let loose on the tree so far but maybe we'll let him help this year as he's almost 2.5

itsbritneybiatches · 10/11/2018 07:41

1st December but it's down New Years Eve it the day before

IggyAce · 10/11/2018 07:42

The first weekend of December usually, so it’s going up on the 1st December this year.

tinstar · 10/11/2018 07:44

About a week before Xmas day.

NOTthepinkranger · 10/11/2018 07:44

We do ours normally first weekend in December, I’m not too sure this year though I might wait until the week after.

A LOT of people around mine have put theirs up already but they all seem to have had them done by a ‘professional’ so that might be why.. still too early for homes. I do like the shops being done up and markets being open though.

AuntieStella · 10/11/2018 07:45

Ours goes up mid/late December, after a family birthday and around the end of term.

It stays up until Twelfth Night.

More than about 3 weeks and I think it would be looking very tired/dehydrated (thought I suppose that's not a problem if you have an artificial tree).

And although I have started some Christmas present shopping, it's more on a 'if I see something' basis. I. really don't want to go into full Christmas mode before Remembrance Day. And generally prefer it held, back until Advent Sunday.

Believeitornot · 10/11/2018 07:46

Second weekend of December as the first one is dd’s Birthday

mostlydrinkstea · 10/11/2018 07:47

The weekend before Christmas and it stays up until the 6th January.

ree348 · 10/11/2018 07:47

Usually the first weekend of December.

Mari50 · 10/11/2018 07:48

No decorations this year as we’re away on holiday for a month over Christmas and I couldn’t be more delighted!
Usually I put the tree up about a week before Christmas and it’s down before new year.
I’ve seen a few houses with decorations up already. I try not to judge......
I think the start of December is way too early but I’m obviously in the minority these days.

sandgrown · 10/11/2018 07:48

Mid December to 12th night .

Veronicat · 10/11/2018 07:49

Ours go up the afternoon of my birthday (16th). Nice little family tradition since I was born. [santa]

vampirethriller · 10/11/2018 07:49

2nd week of December.

kaytee87 · 10/11/2018 07:50

Just noticed that this year we're pretty busy the first weekend in December so it will be the second weekend.
