to ask when you put your Christmas tree up?

The Christmas markets are up in my town centre now, the Christmas lights are on and several houses near me have got their trees up already! This is very very wrong, we're not even halfway through November!

When does yours go up? Mine goes up on 1st December.

Middle of December. I don't understand people who put them up in November and then take them down on Boxing Day.

Therunecaster · 10/11/2018 17:08

Mine went up today!

flumposie · 10/11/2018 17:10

Usually the first weekend in December. Down on 2nd January as my daughter's birthday is the 4th.

Redgreencoverplant · 10/11/2018 17:28

First weekend in December. This year DH and DS will be away that weekend so they will come back to it decorated which I think DS will find magical (he is 2).

PippaRabbit · 10/11/2018 17:35

Second weekend in December and they come down normally 2nd/3rd January. We get real trees and have a warm house so they're ready to come down by then.

PhilomenaButterfly · 10/11/2018 17:36

Christmas Eve.

Athena51 · 10/11/2018 17:41

First weekend in December, I can't wait any longer-I love Christmas [santa]

It also gives the cat time to adjust and get bored with removing baubles before Christmas Smile

PiperPublickOccurrences · 10/11/2018 17:45

I think the start of December is way too early but I’m obviously in the minority these days.

I am in that minority too then! Looking at the calendar, this year the tree will probably go up on 15/16 Dec, certainly not before. And down as soon as I can get away with it.

All the "it's Christmas" ads on TV are driving me nuts already - IT'S NOVEMBER. I even saw a mayonnaise one telling you how to use your leftovers the other day!

Cannot wait until it's all over.

weeboysmummy · 10/11/2018 19:00

Toddler DS birthday 2nd week of December so tree will go up day after that!

Purplejay · 10/11/2018 19:37

First weekend in December. Probably the sunday as will have a really good clean on saturday.

theSnuffster · 10/11/2018 19:51

First weekend in December usually. By Boxing Day I'm itching to take it down and pack everything away.... One year we did, actually, but that was because we were moving house the following week.

Crunchymum · 10/11/2018 19:53

2 weekends before Xmas.

Glumglowworm · 10/11/2018 19:54

1st December

I bloody love Christmas!

Pinkprincess1978 · 10/11/2018 19:58

I like mine up for the first so usually do it the last weekend in November. Our town does a big light switch on the last Thursday in November and that makes me ready to get mine up.

Although today DH (who usually complains I put them up too early) has gotten the new light up penguins he bought in the sale last year out. He was meant to be figuring out how to secure them to the balcony but has decided they look nice on the landing so they are all plugged in 😂

Babybearsporij · 10/11/2018 20:00

The first weekend in December after we've been to breakfast with Santa at the garden centre.

Hollyboots · 10/11/2018 20:00

We have more than one tree, the real one will go up 2nd week of December. Artificial ones will go up between next weekend and 2nd week of December (3 artificial trees) all the additional decorations will go up in stages from next weekend until the real tree. We love Christmas in our house and I get no time off over the season itself so I like to prolong the celebrations.

sj257 · 10/11/2018 20:01

Usually the first weekend in December

BarryTheKestrel · 10/11/2018 20:04

This year it'll be the first weekend in December as DD is at a sleepover on the Saturday night so I can decorate in peace. Last year it was the second weekend for the same reason.

Putting the tree up involves moving furniture in my house so having a 3 year old barrelling around just isn't worth the hassle and danger.

homeishere · 10/11/2018 20:08

Probably when I buy it. 21/22 December. The real tends to be massively reduced by then and we’ll be away for a week before Xmas day so getting it before would mean it would likely be dead on the day.

Thinking of getting a couple of fake ones in the sales for next year.

simbobs · 10/11/2018 20:14

I would like it up mid Dec but dh prefers it earlier. We always have a real one and it usually last until 12th night.

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 10/11/2018 20:24

Usually up one the first weekend in December but we’re away this year so it’ll be the 8th. Down on New Year’s Day.

icclemunchy · 10/11/2018 20:24

Ours goes up the weekend before Xmas and comes down the weekend after. We have a tiny house and the tree is just right royally in the way.

We have other lights and things that go up from About mid December and usually stay until after New year's

Fatted · 10/11/2018 20:31

Last weekend in November usually. It started as a tradition when we moved into our current home. We moved in the middle of November and I couldn't be bothered to find a home for the decorations just for them to come out again a few days later. So I put it them early.

I'll probably wait until the first weekend in December this year.

My neighbour has her tree up already and even I think that's far too ridiculously early!

lalaloopyhead · 10/11/2018 20:34

We've got earlier and earlier and now usually beginning of December. Recent tradition has been the evening iof our local light switch on, which this year is 28th November. Seems a bit wrong bit what can I do??

Barnyboy03 · 10/11/2018 20:55

When my children were young we used to get our Christmas tree (always a real one) on the 18th December. Now happily child free for the last 25 years I buy my tree on the 23rd and it comes down on New Years day....that way the tree stays fresh and I don't have pine needles everywhere lol
