The Christmas markets are up in my town centre now, the Christmas lights are on and several houses near me have got their trees up already! This is very very wrong, we're not even halfway through November!

When does yours go up? Mine goes up on 1st December.

One or two weeks before Christmas day and comes down on 27th

scaryteacher · 10/11/2018 15:08

Either Christmas Eve, or hopefully this year, about the 20/21st. It does stay up til 12th Night though.

MrsStrowman · 10/11/2018 15:09

The first weekend after November 24th (DHs birthday)

PumpkinPie2016 · 10/11/2018 15:09

It varies year on year but this year I am planning on doing it on the 8th Dec. For the simple reason my son (5 years) is at a drama club rehearsal all morning so I can get it up easily without him attempting to 'help' Grin

It will be a nice suprise for him when he gets back!

bokkleorandoove · 10/11/2018 15:10

No earlier than 12 days before Christmas and stays up until 6th January

DuchessofManchester · 10/11/2018 15:17

Ours goes up 2nd weekend of December and comes down new years day... hangover permitting!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 10/11/2018 15:18

We don't bother with a tree I'm afraid. But I think November is waaay too early. Christmas isn't until the end of December.

Loyaultemelie · 10/11/2018 15:18

Last Saturday in November. 1st December was my Grandas birthday and he loved putting the tree up and liked it up for his birthday. My dm is a grinch and doesn't do it anymore but I still do it for him and my dds love it. This year I won't have to faff with aspirin etc to keep the thing alive got a Balsam hill one less than half price so hopefully they are as real looking as they claim [santa]

Aspirin??

We always get a real tree and it's always still alive and barely shedding when we put it out in January.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 10/11/2018 15:27

We used to do about a week before Christmas but now we have DS it will probably be weekend of 8/9th

starrynight19 · 10/11/2018 15:31

Second weekend in December and stays up until after new year.
I imagine I would be fed up of looking at it if I put it up now.

Darkestnight · 10/11/2018 15:33

Mine goes up 2nd week of December if I can be bothered this year

Bluesheep8 · 10/11/2018 15:35

What is the "rule" about the 6th Jan though? I thought it was just that it had to be down by then, not that it had to stay up til then? Confused

Stephisaur · 10/11/2018 15:37

1st weekend in December usually. Occasionally the last weekend of November. It comes down on twelfth night.

I love Christmas Grin

Hedgehog80 · 10/11/2018 15:39

27 November every year since 2001

TheLastNigel · 10/11/2018 15:45

Dec 1st, down Jan 5th

Mulberry72 · 10/11/2018 15:47

1st weekend in December

drspouse · 10/11/2018 15:50

It's traditionally the 12 days of Christmas starting on 25th of December and ending on 6th of January with Epiphany, the coming of the Wise Men. Christmas is therefore supposed to start with Christmas day rather than finishing with Christmas Day according to the church calendar.

User97532468 · 10/11/2018 16:15

First weekend in December but it comes down on Boxing Day before my DS’s Birthday

Desecratedcoconut · 10/11/2018 16:19

I put them up on the second or third weekend in December.

TheWickedWitchofWestYorkshire · 10/11/2018 16:22

Probably a week or two into December and then take them down on new year's day. Before I had children I didn't put them up at all. As much as I like Christmas and love looking at the lights and going to the Xmas markets etc, decorations in the house do my head in!

daisypond · 10/11/2018 16:23

A week before Christmas and then down on 6th Jan. I'd really like the tree to go up on Christmas Eve, though, by preference, but I'm outvoted on this one. I find the idea of people taking the tree down before Epiphany very odd!

eurochick · 10/11/2018 16:27

Usually 2-3 weeks before Xmas. We like a warm house and have a real tree so any earlier and it wouldn't look its best at Christmas.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/11/2018 16:30

around about the 12th-14th Dec - I have a real one so it needs to last!
