to ask when you put your Christmas tree up?

The Christmas markets are up in my town centre now, the Christmas lights are on and several houses near me have got their trees up already! This is very very wrong, we're not even halfway through November!

When does yours go up? Mine goes up on 1st December.

@puzzledlady there's no need to be like that, it was a lighthearted post. Sorry if that wasn't obvious to you. And sorry about your grandmother

In Manchester by any chance OP?

I'll do my mum's tree mid Dec, take it down New Years Day. Won't bother at home, never do

eloliphant · 10/11/2018 09:06

@CheekyRedhead yes, I am! I was shopping in town and didn't think they'd be up yet, it took me by surprise

Mine always goes up in the last Sunday of November. Most of our neighbours put theirs up straight after Halloween, which in my opinion is way too early.

PlatypusPie · 10/11/2018 09:10

Week before Xmas and then down at New Year. We used to put it up earlier at our house when we went away to parents for the whole period as we didn’t get the chance to tire of it !

MoaningSickness · 10/11/2018 09:10

If you have real trees they won't cope indoors for months. We bring ours in a week before Christmas, so it's in for about three weeks (to the twelfth night), which is really pushing it.

If you have a plastic tree you can have it up all year if it makes you happy!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 10/11/2018 09:12

Our real trees are always fine up for a month/6 weeks. Just trim the base, water it etc

Pinkyyy · 10/11/2018 09:12

I put mine up last week, I just couldn't wait. I absolutely love Christmas time.

Jaxtellerswife · 10/11/2018 09:13

Today!

thismeansnothing · 10/11/2018 09:16

14th December this year. We've got a real tree and like it to last to twelfth night.

Garland over the fireplace and Christmas ornaments and bedding comes out on the first

WellLetsSayHesSquare · 10/11/2018 09:17

Ds birthday is on the 7th so the weekend after. This year it's going up on the 8th. We will ship the kids out for a few hours and let them come back to it all sparkly. They are only just 2 and 6 months though so wont be able to "help" yet.

LokiBear · 10/11/2018 09:18

I like to keep Christmas in December. I start shopping in September, try and get it all done by the end of November. Tree up on the 1st of December, down on 2nd January.

Biancadelriosback · 10/11/2018 09:24

Decorations go up around 12th Dec. Tree goes up the weekend before Xmas day. My son's bday is just before Christmas so we try to pour loads of bday excitement into the weeks leading up and then do Christmas

Doghorsechicken · 10/11/2018 09:28

Used to be 1st December but recent years has become 30th November because I get far too excited!! I love my Christmas decorations, they’re beautiful, homely & warm. I really don’t understand people that get bored of them if they put them up too early! You’re obviously doing it wrong! Grin

craftymum01 · 10/11/2018 09:33

Mine went until last week. Love Christmas and making it last as long as possible. I get a lot of grief over it for some reason

hazell42 · 10/11/2018 10:14

4pm Christmas eve. Tree goes up. It's Christmas. Can't understand people who put it up early. Takes all the magic out of it

Killybashangel · 10/11/2018 10:15

1st Saturday in December

Girlicorne · 10/11/2018 14:22

we usually do it the first weekend in December or if the weekend falls around 28thish of November we ll do it then, but we are away the first weekend in December and the last weekend in November so I want to do it next weekend. DH however thinks IABU and I m dependent on him getting the decs from the loft!! (it's boarded out and I m worried I m too heavy!!!!) So not sure if it will happen but if we all get on at him it should!!

Bluesheep8 · 10/11/2018 14:43

Usually just before Christmas. As Christmas eve is a Monday this year, it'll probably go up on the Saturday before. It'll come down the Saturday after.

Bluesheep8 · 10/11/2018 14:44

Agree with hazell42

DramaAlpaca · 10/11/2018 14:49

Ours goes up no sooner than a week before Christmas. This year it'll go up on Saturday 22nd & come down at 12th night.

icebearforpresident · 10/11/2018 14:57

Before I had kids it was the weekend before Christmas, even f Christmas was on the Monday. Last year I think it was about about the 10th.

I spotted a Christmas tree up in someone’s living room when I was walking home from work last night. I know it has zero impact on me whatsoever but it drives me mad seeing them up so early.

Celebelly · 10/11/2018 15:01

First weekend of December (if it happens to be the 30th of November then I won't quibble over it being a day early!). And then it usually comes down on the 2nd or 3rd of January as I like to tidy everything festive up then. I love Christmas and the Christmas tree being up makes me happy!

TurkeyBear · 10/11/2018 15:03

2 weeks before Christmas. If not just the week before. Stays up until January 6th like it should do!

TurkeyBear · 10/11/2018 15:06

@bendydickcuminsnatch "We start putting house decorations - lights, paperchains etc - up after my birthday (16 Nov)"

ConfusedHmm

You're nuts.
