To not wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night

AIBU to not want to wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night?

A little bit of a backstory - I was having dinner at in laws last night and the topic over dinner got to what you wear for bed. (I know very random)

My DP said that I have the worst taste in pjs and that 'most women' wear sexy pjs in bed. Not for a sexual reason just that they do. I totally disagreed with this and said that little outfits (playdoll outfits etc) are for sexy times and not to sleep in. I am guessing he would prefer this and like it. Then MIL backed DP up and said that she has always worn nice pjs and sexy outfits to bed.

I shut the conversation up after I figured I wouldn't get anywhere and wanted to be mindful who I was speaking to.

AIBU to want to wear comfy pyjamas to sleep in or should I be more inclined to get the playdoll outfits out?

You know full well that YANBU

Why on Earth would you have this conversation with your PIL? Does your DH actually want to know that his Mother wear sexy PJ's to bed?

SinkGirl · 09/11/2018 14:38

Slightly alarming dynamic between your DH and MIL there!

Pyjamas are comfy, not sexy. My DH fortunately finds comfy pyjamas sexy, so win win 😂

fantasmasgoria1 · 09/11/2018 14:38

Most women I know wear pyjamas to bed. I wear ordinary pyjamas and I never wear sexy nightwear to bed. My fiancé said there is no point as the pyjamas just come off!

Booie09 · 09/11/2018 14:38

Fuck that....fluffy jim jams all the way....

petbear · 09/11/2018 14:38

Tell your DH that most women have a man with a big cock, but we don't all get what we want do we?

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/11/2018 14:39

Euw, that's all kinds of inappropriate! Hmm

Aquamarine1029 · 09/11/2018 14:39

Your DP is an idiot. He has no idea what he's talking about.

Limensoda · 09/11/2018 14:39

YANBU
You aren't a sex toy or a doll. Main reason we go to bed is to sleep.
Your DP and his mother are bonkers.

WithAFaeryHandInHand · 09/11/2018 14:40

Ugh Jesus. Why was he discussing this with his mum 🤮. I never want to think of my mil in sexy undies.

ileclerc · 09/11/2018 14:40

Bizarre conversation to have with PIL!

Handsfull13 · 09/11/2018 14:41

I can't think of anything worse then trying to actually sleep in those sexy barely there bedroom outfits.
It's for the bedroom but not to sleep in.
I'd have a chat with your hubby about his comments and how you feel about them.

There is a difference between frumpy shove on stuff and more stylish pjs but even then it's up to you what your comfortable in.
I'd find find what he meant by it all and go from there.

If he wants you to wear a thong to bed I'd buy him one to match and see how that lasts

Nanny0gg · 09/11/2018 14:41

Euwwwww!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 09/11/2018 14:42

I'm not into "play doll" stuff for any reason but I like to wear nice pjs to bed. I have loads of little shorts and cami tops for Summer that are feminine and when it's colder I wear nice pjs too.

BUT you can wear whatever the heck you like!

busybarbara · 09/11/2018 14:43

To be honest if he says you have the "worst taste" in PJs you are probably wearing something quite unappealing as that's a weird thing to say if you are just wearing normal PJs. If you want to keep your relationship on the straight and narrow maybe you could sexy it up just a little bit as you have to put the effort in sometimes x

Luxembourgmama · 09/11/2018 14:44

bizarre convo with the PIL. I wear fluffy PJs at home in the evening but we've a super thick duvet so i wear nothing to actually sleep. I do sometimes complain that DH wears PJs to actually sleep rather than nothing.

Omzlas · 09/11/2018 14:45

You mean to say that when you wake up in the middle of the night, you don't look perfectly quaffed, with immaculate make up and unwrinkled clothes!? Shock. Fucking. Horror.

Sexy babydolls are for sexy times. They get thrown at the bedside, beside the penisbeaker and jizzpants

PJs are for sleeping - I don't know a single person alive who sleeps in sexy PJs

Also find it super odd that this was dinner conversation with the outlaws!

ShatnersBassoon · 09/11/2018 14:45

That is so, so strange. A woman using herself as an example of sexiness to her son would be so uncomfortable to listen to, especially if her son was my partner and he didn't seem to find it weird!

PrincessMonacoOfKent · 09/11/2018 14:46

Whenever I've worn a sexy baby-doll to bed, I've woken up the next morning with one boob in and one boob out...

It's comfy PJs all the way now! Smile

BitOutOfPractice · 09/11/2018 14:47

Has anyone actually worn a baby doll nightie (eww that name is grim isn't it?) since the last Carry On film was made?

shearwater · 09/11/2018 14:49

No way. Bed is for sleeping, and I get cold too.

NOTthepinkranger · 09/11/2018 14:49

Busybarbra really? Hmm and what does he have to do exactly ..

hellhavenofury · 09/11/2018 14:50

OK I am not the only one! MIL didn't go into too much detail but they sometimes stay over and I have seen her pop to the bathroom so it was no secret to me!

I admit they aren't the most flattering pjs but I do wear sexy stuff for the bedroom just not to sleep in!

So there aren't many women who do wear sexy PJs? I don't mean thongs, stockings & suspenders BTW just not long PJ bottoms and a baggy T-shirt!

What a bizarre conversation for a mother and her grown up son to have. Or any of you.

Coldilox · 09/11/2018 15:02

I wear my Harry Potter pyjamas or an old t-shirt most of the time
