To not wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night

AIBU to not want to wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night?

A little bit of a backstory - I was having dinner at in laws last night and the topic over dinner got to what you wear for bed. (I know very random)

My DP said that I have the worst taste in pjs and that 'most women' wear sexy pjs in bed. Not for a sexual reason just that they do. I totally disagreed with this and said that little outfits (playdoll outfits etc) are for sexy times and not to sleep in. I am guessing he would prefer this and like it. Then MIL backed DP up and said that she has always worn nice pjs and sexy outfits to bed.

I shut the conversation up after I figured I wouldn't get anywhere and wanted to be mindful who I was speaking to.

AIBU to want to wear comfy pyjamas to sleep in or should I be more inclined to get the playdoll outfits out?

Haha! I’m with the poster who wakes with one boob in and one boob out. I also wake up strangling myself with nighties so never wear them! Sexy I’m more like a cage fighter to sleep with

Pissedoffdotcom · 09/11/2018 15:06

Your DP would hate me then. I wear comfy joggers & a baggy tee shirt to bed...unless its the heat of summer. Screw wearing 'sexy' pjs, why the hell should comfort in bed be sacrificed??!

Littlechocola · 09/11/2018 15:07

What on earth are sexy pyjamas?

Pooshy · 09/11/2018 15:08

Pyjamas are not sexy. Wonder what pyjamas he's referring to!

Laureline · 09/11/2018 15:11

And I bet he’s a regular Adonis, is always impeccably groomed and wears silky boxers in bed all the time?

fuzzywuzzy · 09/11/2018 15:11

I wear DP’s boxers and t shirt.

I have regular pjs from Primark (shorts and cami top, or long bottoms and t shirts style), which I wear when not breastfeeding when breastfeeding it’s just DP’s boxers and nothing else for ease of access for baby to latch on.

DP has never ever complained.

Baby dolls aren’t made to sleep in are they?

Unicornandbows · 09/11/2018 15:13

Do silk/satin shorts and top count as sexy? Or dress types

AdoraBell · 09/11/2018 15:13

I’ve said this on a previous thread about what that OP wore in bed,

If my DH, or MIL, told me to wear “sexy outfits” I would wear my jeans and a T-shirt.

diddl · 09/11/2018 15:15

" I wear nice pjs too"

Is there such a thing?

I thought pjs were generally unfitted long sleeve top & long bottoms to keep you warm?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 09/11/2018 15:16

Yes! I have a beautiful Ralph Lauren pair of PJs.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 09/11/2018 15:17

😂 what a strange conversation. I look a right scruff in bed, I want comfort not sex appeal. I wear shorts and a vest top in the summer that are baggy, ancient and a bit tired looking. I've just replaced my winter bottoms with brushed cotton, loose pant things with the same vest tops.

QueenArseClangers · 09/11/2018 15:18

Fuck me, I’d be wearing a full suit of armour every night if my DH came out with such drivel as that.

Is your MIL Babs Windsor?

moresugarthanalemon · 09/11/2018 15:19

I wear a low impact comfy sports bra and a t shirt and some knickers. No way would I dress up for bed

Blanchedupetitpois · 09/11/2018 15:21

I can imagine few worse topics of conversation to have with your IN-LAWS.

Willofthesimpletons · 09/11/2018 15:22

What sexy outfit does he wear to bed then?

The implication here is that you should always be available for titillation and sexy times for him and it's a bit grim, tbh.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 09/11/2018 15:23

And I've just read Barbara's comment and think she may need to rethink her comment because I noted a lack at what the man is supposed to do to sex things up Confused

BeautifulPossibilities · 09/11/2018 15:23

Ewwwh he wants you to wear the same as his Mum to bed?! No no no.

Dobbythesockelf · 09/11/2018 15:24

His mum mentioned that she always wears sexy pjs? What a wierd conversation to have with your son.
I wear normal pjs, so long pants and a scrappy top or t shirt. Last night they were harry potter ones and dh still seems to want to have sex. What are sexy pjs? Like lingerie? Sounds income to me. Also when I want to have sex I just don't wear the pjs to bed that seems to be sexy enough for dh.

Dobbythesockelf · 09/11/2018 15:26

Ahhh typos. Uncomfortable not income..... should not type and try and listen to 3 yrs olds rendition of old McDonald at same time.

Athena51 · 09/11/2018 15:33

YANBU and it is a bit of a weird conversation to have with in in-laws.

My DP finds me sexy, not what I'm wearing and while wearing something sexy is fun, it shouldn't be essential.

Labmum · 09/11/2018 15:33

You were discussing this with your in-laws over dinner??!! How did you and DH not vomit? BOAK!!!

And for the record I hope your DH wears lovely designer boxers to bed with no holes if he expects you to sleep in sexy PJs!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/11/2018 15:34

I don't wear anything to bed although my dh once charmingly referred to a pair of old comfy(ugly) pj bottoms as 'termite' because they 'killed wood'

dontalltalkatonce · 09/11/2018 15:39

'Most women'. So he knows, what 80% of the 4bn or so women on the planet and knows what they wear to bed? And talks about it with his mother? Anyone who tried to dictate to me what I wear in my own bed wouldn't last long, tbh. My body is not a plaything or an ornament. What's he wear that's sexy or nice in bed? Thought not.

Lovemusic33 · 09/11/2018 15:41

I wear comfy pj’s at home but nothing in bed. I don’t own sexy pj’s, what are sexy pj’s? Silk? Lace?

Cyclingpast · 09/11/2018 15:41

What is "nice" pyjamas?
