To not wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night

AIBU to not want to wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night?

A little bit of a backstory - I was having dinner at in laws last night and the topic over dinner got to what you wear for bed. (I know very random)

My DP said that I have the worst taste in pjs and that 'most women' wear sexy pjs in bed. Not for a sexual reason just that they do. I totally disagreed with this and said that little outfits (playdoll outfits etc) are for sexy times and not to sleep in. I am guessing he would prefer this and like it. Then MIL backed DP up and said that she has always worn nice pjs and sexy outfits to bed.

I shut the conversation up after I figured I wouldn't get anywhere and wanted to be mindful who I was speaking to.

AIBU to want to wear comfy pyjamas to sleep in or should I be more inclined to get the playdoll outfits out?

Do these husband's that expect their wives to put in all this effort to look 'sexy' to go to sleep also put in the same amount of effort or their wives? Or do they in fact sleep in the same boxers they have worn all day?
I'm just thankful that my dh doesn't seem to need me to put effort into looking nice for him as he finds me attractive anyway.

Knittink · 09/11/2018 22:29

And do the older husbands also put in effort with their nightwear for their laydees? I doubt it somehow... Lazy youngsters Hmm I'm far from being a youngster and have never in my life worn sexy nightwear. Tacky, uncomfortable-looking, synthetic stuff. Ugh.

lovetherisingsun · 09/11/2018 22:30

Some men just can't love us as we are - we have to be dressed up wank socks for them to find us "sexy", or for them to be happy with us.

sweetkitty · 09/11/2018 22:31

I have fibromyalgia and Raynauds which means I am constantly cold. Tonight I have fleece Harry Potter PJs with a tshirt underneath which has to be tucked in to prevent drafts and a pair of fleecy socks. Oh and I’ll be under two duvets one a 13 tog! DH says he cannot find me let alone get up to anything. I do have other clothes for sexy times we just crank the heating up!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 09/11/2018 22:35

Dh bought me a big pair of men's flannel pj's. He knows I'd steal them if he only bought himself some... in summer I steal his singlets.
They're nice and comfy. He loves me and wants me to be comfortable. I'm not performing sexy when I'm asleep ffs.

Stephisaur · 09/11/2018 22:44

PJs are only for lounging around the house here, so comfort is king 😂

DH usually sleeps in his boxers/naked. I sleep naked.

I cannot fathom wearing sexy pjs to bed. How do you get comfy? They’re so slippy 😂

foodiefil · 09/11/2018 22:46

I would have said 'oh so you want me to dress like your mother in bed?' That would have killed his boner

Layla8 · 09/11/2018 22:51

Ugh, weird conversation to have with his Mum.
We both sleep naked, I would never go to bed in PJs and a T-shirt, and I don’t like him to wear anything, love to feel his skin. Surely there’s a compromise between being comfy and pleasing him ? Soft little shorts and a strappy T maybe ?

Returnofthesmileybar · 09/11/2018 22:57

Nothing gets me hornier than my husband telling me he wants me to dress more like his mother in bed Confused ---> said no woman ever!!

AngeloMysterioso · 09/11/2018 23:02

I wear this sort of thing to bed, does that count as sexy?

Bootanicbanshee · 09/11/2018 23:05

This is hilarious. Are you for real?

"Most women" wear sexy PJs to bed, do they? Is that what he really thinks/says out loud? And his mum backs him up? And yet... you're asking if YABU? Right.

What does your DP wear to bed? Tell us more...

nononsene · 09/11/2018 23:07

I just wear pants to bed. Not sexy ones though. I don’t think I’ve ever owned sexy nightwear!

Bluesmartiesarebest · 09/11/2018 23:21

I’ve never had fancy pjs. Those silky ones look like they’d get caught up my chuff!

TheChickenOfTruth · 09/11/2018 23:27

Bluesmartiesarebest

IKR, right up in there!

Notjustanyone · 09/11/2018 23:30

What if your house is really cold or there's an emergency like a fire and you end up stood outside in your lacy teddy with a thong up your butt

BigChocFrenzy · 09/11/2018 23:37

A man wanting you to dress like his mum in bed, to turn him on
Total turnoff

MrsApplepants · 09/11/2018 23:41

I wear a vest and clean pants to bed. With fluffy socks. DH would find babydoll nighties hilarious and this would totally kill any passion. We both prefer to just get naked if we want some frisk, rather than me wearing sexy sleepwear/ outfits

MrMakersFartyParty · 09/11/2018 23:44

@busybarbara lazy youngsters? How rude.
I think you'll find the older generation are just more willing to fulfil the stereotype their husbands expect of them. The lazy youngsters are just a bit smarter and realise that we don't need to please the males all the time.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 10/11/2018 00:01

You should make a bit of effort to keep your marriage alive OP. I’d suggest sexy pyjamas, a wig just like MIL’s hair and maybe a mask of her face? Or is that too far?

Nettletheelf · 10/11/2018 00:05

HAHAHAHA at the MIL wig and mask!

Nettletheelf · 10/11/2018 00:10

Those polyester satin nightwear things are a sweaty nightmare to sleep in. Get him some XXL baby doll pyjamas (are those garments still for sale in shops other than Ann Summers I wonder?) and suggest he sleeps in them for a few nights because you find the idea so appealing.

Don’t give in, BTW. Next he’ll want you to wear bloody basques and stockings every day because that’s a woman’s duty, innit? To be sexy for her man irrespective of comfort or simply having better things to do.

edwinbear · 10/11/2018 00:16

You had a dinner party conversation about the sexiness of yours and your MIL bed attire, on which your DH opined? Oedipus complex.

TheGoogleMum · 10/11/2018 00:33

I do have sexy baby dolls but I don't wear them often. I'd only wear them if I'm planning ahead to seduce my husband not for a normal nights sleep.
I usually wear pjs or a non sexy nightie or nothing in hot weather. I'll happily stay in my pjs all day if I'm not going out but feel a bit more comfortable being decently covered up!
