To not wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night

AIBU to not want to wear sexy pyjamas to bed every night?

A little bit of a backstory - I was having dinner at in laws last night and the topic over dinner got to what you wear for bed. (I know very random)

My DP said that I have the worst taste in pjs and that 'most women' wear sexy pjs in bed. Not for a sexual reason just that they do. I totally disagreed with this and said that little outfits (playdoll outfits etc) are for sexy times and not to sleep in. I am guessing he would prefer this and like it. Then MIL backed DP up and said that she has always worn nice pjs and sexy outfits to bed.

I shut the conversation up after I figured I wouldn't get anywhere and wanted to be mindful who I was speaking to.

AIBU to want to wear comfy pyjamas to sleep in or should I be more inclined to get the playdoll outfits out?

@MustardPowder
Did they ban him or did you? 😆

"AIBU to want to wear comfy pyjamas to sleep in or should I be more inclined to get the playdoll outfits out?"

No you are definitely NOT being unreasonable. I would also be cringing if my MIL talked about sexy things she wore to bed!

hellhavenofury maybe tell your dh you would wear something sexy if he wore....

MENS SCOTTISH KILT COSTUME

It might be out of stock so you may have a long wait!

KeiTeNgeNge · 09/11/2018 17:35

Okay, so what sexy pjs is he wearing to bed? You should wear what you want to bed to sleep in btw.

SleepySofa · 09/11/2018 17:42

Sexy PJs are an oxymoron in any case.

Alwaysasparklymoment99 · 09/11/2018 17:47

I think there is something weird about this thread. Very odd conversation.

I always though the sexiest thing a girl could wear was a man’s shirt. You do however need to be drop dead gorgeous to pull it off. I’m lolling at MIL who thinks she’s sexy as hell and you should copy her choices. Is she normally this conceited

canyouhearthedrums · 09/11/2018 18:16

I'm wondering in what universe it's normal to have a family discussion about 'sexy times'.

Wear what you want OP.

MrMakersFartyParty · 09/11/2018 18:21

What a grim conversation to have with the in laws!

TeiTetua · 09/11/2018 19:51

O to say "Well actually we both sleep nude" and then look around the table cheerfully.

Ollivander84 · 09/11/2018 19:56

I get freezing in bed. Usually wear a t shirt and pj bottoms plus thermal socks

Deadbudgie · 09/11/2018 19:56

If that conversation had occurred with my pil I think I would have had to stab a fork into each ear so I didn’t have to hear about MIL sexing it up. I wear fleece pjs to bed, it’s getting cold. Quite easy to remove😁. But then my DH is probably more concerned about me feeling comfortable and warm rather than dressing like a mannequin from Anne summers to turn him on😁

ha ha ha ha …….

DarthLipgloss · 09/11/2018 20:09

Another one wondering what "sexy pjs" are and looking for the brain bleach at DH/MIL creepy bedwear image.
I wear harem pants and cami vests to lounge about in, nothing in bed most nights. Do the sexytime dress up thing occasionally but what's the point if its every night? Wear what you want, how sexy are your DHs pjs?

ItsBloodyFreezingg · 09/11/2018 20:12

Ugh, him and his mother were discussing what sexy PJs she wears to bed. That is awful.

Anyway.... No absolutely not. You should see some of the states I go to bed in. DP jokes that it's like going to bed with a bloke because my sleepwear is essentially his clothes. His joggers, his t shirt and fleece in the winter and his nice warm socks Grin

I do have the odd 'outfit' for that sort of thing.... But I certainly wouldn't sleep in them. (Or discuss them with my MIL!)

ItsBloodyFreezingg · 09/11/2018 20:14

Also, how sexy are your DHs pyjamas? Or is he like a lot of men and expects you to be sexy for him whilst he dosses around in his stained jogging pants and the same underwear he's had on for a week?

chocolatebox1 · 09/11/2018 20:19

I don't know what "sexy pyjamas" would entail. Silk? With lacy bits? Sexy nighties? But nighties aren't pyjamas anyway... everyone knows babydolls etc are for dressing up sexily, not for going to sleep in. I like to buy "nice" pyjamas because I spend a lot of time ill at home, but by nice, I mean nice fabrics, matching sets, tasteful designs, but there's no way any of them could possibly be considered sexy.... very strange and what an odd MIL to chime in to such a conversation

TheChickenOfTruth · 09/11/2018 20:23

I never used to wear Pj's, but I have to now as DH wafts the duvet in his sleep so all the cold air gets in and wakes me up if I'm naked!
Also I have to wear a bra, else I frequently accidentally rest my elbow on my nip when trying to turn over and that is excruciating!

ContessaGoesMarchingDOWNTOHELL · 09/11/2018 20:34

Didn't we have a thread recently about people wearing pyjamas to bed? I remember quite a few posters being astonished that any adults do so at all?

My DH once admitted that his mum would prance about naked and ask if he thought she looked attractive. He was a teenage boy at the time and it was just the two of them living in the house. Funnily enough he views her as bloody barking now and keeps well away....

Pinkprincess1978 · 09/11/2018 21:36

My mil wears nighties which done look comfy and might be considered sexy (if a 70+ lady is sexy). I've never seen her wear comfy pjs or even wear her bed clothes before going to bed (some days I get changed in pjs when I get in from work 😂)

Melamin · 09/11/2018 21:39

DH wafts the duvet in his sleep I have a wafter too. Angry

Tartsamazeballs · 09/11/2018 21:44

This is obviously the nasty effects of extended cosleeping that everyone warns you about. [/s]

Fiver says I know what your Xmas present from MIL will be this year OP

cc4490 · 09/11/2018 21:51

I'd be so uncomfortable with this conversation with PIL 🙈
I take my pjs off at bedtime and sleep in undies not in a sexy way! do people not get too hot going to bed in full pjs?
Even on the rare occasion I stay at my mums I take my pjs off when I go to bed.

WildCherryBlossom · 09/11/2018 22:21

Paraphrasing Amy Winehouse:
"They tried to make me wear his mum's stuff. I said no, no, no!"

busybarbara · 09/11/2018 22:22

It sounds like maybe the older generation - of which I am also a member! - might just put a bit more effort in for our husbands unlike the lazier youngsters! But if you prefer comfort you do you

Lana1234 · 09/11/2018 22:27

I usually wear DP’s over sized t shirts and a pair of comfy joggers for bed 😅 I couldn’t care less about being sexy I just wanna good nights sleep. What an odd convo to have with PIL though
