Trans and third space?

Teachtolive · 20/10/2018 12:05

This is by no means an anti trans thread. I am not anti trans. It could also be an extremely naive question so I apologise in advance if this is in any way offensive, it's not my intention. Would the use of third spaces not solve a lot of issues? So men's, women's and trans bathrooms, men's, women's and trans sporting events etc? Or if it wouldn't solve issues of safe spaces and biological advantages, why not?

I forgot to add, accessible toilets (that wheelchair stick figure symbol doesn't mean 'disabled') are for all people without distinction, anyway.

VintageFur · 20/10/2018 16:15

Tbh I'd fear for the safety of transmen in a third space. I strongly believe this is fuelled by AGP and the sexualised element.

Chalkhillblu3 · 20/10/2018 16:17

Re surgery - basically trans activists say it's none of your business if they still have a dick or not. I have heard this from Paris Lees and Laverne Cox. You shouldn't even ask them. Yet they will flaunt their bodies quite happily in revealing clothes.

easternedge · 20/10/2018 16:24

Nobody - unless you were demanding certain priviliges on account of that tummy took or boob job.

What privileges are trans people asking for?

Jaxhog · 20/10/2018 16:24

Your suggestion is entirely logical

However, many trans want to be subsumed into the gender they think they are - seamlessly and without any distinction, despite all the obvious differences of biology. So they are unlikly to agree with this.

IcedPurple · 20/10/2018 16:26

Some among them are demanding the privilege of accessing female only spaces. You didn't know that?

easternedge · 20/10/2018 16:32

And they themselves are female so there we go problem solved.

Of course now you will trot out the tiny majority of twisted individuals who would exploit the situation without failing to realise or acknowledge that these people would find a way to abuse anyway.

Grow up. Stop calling yourselves feminists.

IcedPurple · 20/10/2018 16:35

Yes, and I'm the long lost first-born son of QEll.

Why? Because I identify as such. There we go. Problem solved.

Rebooting · 20/10/2018 16:36

Go on, I’ll bite.

Define female?

VintageFur · 20/10/2018 16:38

I've never met a female with a Y chromosome and a penis.

IcedPurple · 20/10/2018 16:38

Oh, and there's this:

Of course now you will trot out the tiny majority of twisted individuals who would exploit the situation without failing to realise or acknowledge that these people would find a way to abuse anyway.

Right. So people are going to abuse anyway, so why not - quite literally - hold the door open for them to do so. Why do any of us bother locking our front door at night? I mean, burglers are going to find a way to break in anyway, aren't they?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/10/2018 16:44

If it's anyone who feels they are we have a safety issue.

I agree, the people transexuals want protection from are the ones who want and will abuse self ID.

fedupski · 20/10/2018 16:49

I’m getting bored of this now, rather than men’s and women’s spaces, maybe we could have penis, vagina and neither or both ( intersex) spaces. That way if you have a penis, use the penis space whatever gender you consider yourself that second.

TerfedOff · 20/10/2018 16:50

People cannot change sex. Those born male are going to always be male and those born female are going to always be female.

I really do despair at the standard of knowledge of people coming out of our academic system nowadays. What are they teaching them in biology?

Rebooting · 20/10/2018 16:50

But fedup what if you have a lady penis?

JacquesHammer · 20/10/2018 16:52

And they themselves are female so there we go problem solved

No they’re not. People with penises may well be transwomen. They are not women.

IcedPurple · 20/10/2018 16:54

But deep down, no matter how 'woke' they may like to sound, no psychologically normal person really believes that a human being can actually change sex.

Do they?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/10/2018 16:54

We literally have this now it's not good enough.

If I as a biological female were tight clothes does that give anyone the right to ask about what's in my underwear?? Sorry, you've lost me

a biological female

There is no other type of female.

Gogogadetmumoftwo · 20/10/2018 17:03

Slightly beside the point, but as
a woman I like the idea of mixed toilets/facilities. It would mean the queue was less. It would also help friends who have older boys with learning difficulties as they could accompany them.

easternedge · 20/10/2018 17:10

Never have I seen such childishness or such a lack of compassion.

You are exhaustingly ridiculous. It disgusts me that these feminism boards have been hijacked like this.

JacquesHammer · 20/10/2018 17:10

Never have I seen such childishness or such a lack of compassion

So yet again women have to shut up and be “nice”?

whatifido · 20/10/2018 17:10

Most apparently keep their penis, which they use to mastabate and have sex with as only men can. Whilst they retain and use this organ they have no right to be called a woman in my opinion!
Ill be kind and use their chosen pronouns, ill respect their right to dress and act as they choose but I will never see a naked man with a penis as a women, those that say they do are just plain bonkers!
Single sex provisions are needed for safe guarding, privacy and cultural reasons and for these men to demand access without any diagnosis, treatment or surgery quite frankly shows that they believe their feelings and validations are more important than any vulnerable woman!

Aeroflotgirl · 20/10/2018 17:11

I think everywhere is being created into a third space: Unisex toilets, unisex swimming pool changing facilities etc.
