To ask you: All In or All Out?

All seems to indicate that it's now crunch time for the UK. In the style of another active thread, I'd like to ask you all what you'd go for if given a binary choice between No Deal at all with the EU or Remain.
No blame game or mud slinging, just simple polite answers please.

Nope. There will not be another in/out referendum. I'd frankly be amazed if there is any kind of referendum. A general election, maybe if TM can't get her shitty deal through Parliament. And I can't see any of the major parties offering Remain as their position.

I can't see a three way AV referendum being cobbled together in time. It would have to be authorised by Parliament. Arlene Foster and her DUP nutters MPs would be unlikely to support it. I've never heard of one being used in other countries that do referenda more regularly. Happy to be put right on that one.

SerenDippitty · 07/10/2018 22:17

Remain

Moussemoose · 07/10/2018 22:37

*bellinisurge does the SNP not count as a major party? They are offering remain.

It is the third largest party in the HoC.

@Moussemoose - the SNP are not a national party in the sense that they are not UK wide. I was against Scottish independence in the last vote. Now? I have completely changed my mind. I think the UK should break up and the "fault " will lie entirely with anyone who voted Leave.

bellinisurge · 08/10/2018 08:36

@Motheroffourdragons - in what I think is the unlikely event we have a new In/Out referendum, I would vote Remain as I did before.
If we have a GE, I really doubt a major national party would stand for Remain (which does not include the SNP because they are not a UK party) . Corbyn's Labour are leaver loons who just want chaos so they can rise to dubious glory out of it and the Tories are in such a mess , god knows what they want.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 08/10/2018 08:37

I thought this was about belly-buttons at first glance.

But will be sticking with my original vote to Remain.

Feellikeimthemaid · 08/10/2018 08:40

I voted leave and I'm still leave. If that's No Deal, then so be it. Too late in the day now to plead to stay as they'd penalise us however they could.

Quietrebel · 08/10/2018 09:09

feellike
No not too late to stay. We could stay on the current terms but not if we leave until after Brexit day.

OP posts:
A4Document · 08/10/2018 09:13

Leave, definitely.

bellinisurge · 08/10/2018 09:14

@Feellikeimthemaid explain how shooting yourself in the foot counts as someone penalising you.

derxa · 08/10/2018 09:31

I think the UK should break up and the "fault " will lie entirely with anyone who voted Leave. This would add to the insanity. It's not a game.

Bambamrubblesmum · 08/10/2018 09:39

Remain

Thomasinaa · 08/10/2018 14:02

If TM can't get her bad deal through Parliament, presumably nothing else will then happen, and it will be a No Deal at end March?

DGRossetti · 08/10/2018 14:25

Arguably, that should trigger an election, since it was a manifesto pledge from the Tories. That said, I'd expect them to slither out of it by claiming they didn't "win" the election, so aren't to be bound by stupid manifesto pledges. If we had a no-deal Brexit, all those lovely Henry VIII powers will kick in, so no need for any elections again anyway.

Ngaio2 · 08/10/2018 14:26

I feel even more strongly Remain.
I think the country is circling the plug hole.

Thomasinaa · 08/10/2018 15:21

Parties are forever breaking manifesto pledges. If people take a manifesto pledge seriously, the government just laughs at them, don't they?

Thomasinaa · 08/10/2018 15:22

Because there's nothing anyone can do about a manifesto pledge being broken. So if you complain, you're just told you're naive.

DGRossetti · 08/10/2018 15:33

In theory, inability to deliver on a manifesto pledge - like failing to get a budget through - used to be enough to trigger a general election. No doubt with the excuse of the FTPA, we'll be told "it's not that easy".

Once again, the late Tony Benns questions for power have never been so relevant ...

<span class="italic">"What power have you got?"</span>

<span class="italic">"Where did you get it from?"</span>

<span class="italic">"In whose interests do you use it?"</span>

<span class="italic">"To whom are you accountable?"</span>

<span class="italic">"How do we get rid of you?"</span>

<strong>Anyone who cannot answer the last of those questions does not live in a democratic system.</strong>

(Worth applying those to the EU, by the way ...)

UnnecessaryFennel · 08/10/2018 15:40

Agree, Ngaio

twofingerstoEverything · 08/10/2018 15:44

Remain. How could anyone watch the shit show of the last two years and still think leaving is a good idea? Leaving with no deal is even more mind-bogglingly stupid.

Thomasinaa · 08/10/2018 16:13

I'd be really surprised if the Tories lost a vote on the shit deal and then failed to call a general election. They simply wouldn't do it. And nothing could or would then be done about it,

Thomasinaa · 08/10/2018 16:15

Sorry - would be really surprised if they then DID call a general election. They would do nothing, and then No Deal would happen. All they need to do is wait to end March. And then blame Labour for not voting for shit deal.
