AIBU?

To encourage Ocado shoppers to read this

If you are an Ocado customer, you should be aware that they consider defining ‘woman’ as an adult human female to be hate speech and not ‘in line with their values’.

They threatened to pull advertising from Primesite unless Primesite took down a billboard with the OED definition of woman on it.

They have received hundreds of complaints from women since, but have refused to apologise.

Just in case you might want to consider not giving your money to a company who consider the word woman to not be in line with their values.

And if you do decide to boycott, tell them why.

Shock I missed this!

It’s pretty shocking. You could excuse them by thinking it was just the intern let loose on their social media, but they’ve had every opportunity to retract their statement that woman is offensive and have chosen not to.

I will not spend a penny with a company who have such contempt for their customers.

I think I love ocado even more. Haven't done an order for a little while, I shall have to consider them for my next shop. Great to see companies standing up to hysterical transphobia.

They took it down because it implies that trans women aren't women and that was the message the billboard was meant to portray.
Kelly Keen - Minshull is unapologetic about her anti-trans stance and that trans women 'should live as men'. Bigotry dressed up as feminism. Well done Ocado.

I've cancelled our weekly orders and the OH has cancelled the Smart Pass.

I've booked an organic veg box, we will shop at the coop for milk and cheese just stock up on staples once a month.

They have 1.2% share of the grocery market, and 82% of their customers are women. The old fashioned Adult Human Female types.

Also gutted that this was an anti trans thread when I thought it was going to be saying that the Ocado Christmas slots are ready to book! I love them, best company to shop with, even more so now.

Are you saying that to define women as Adult Human Female is transphobic?

If so why? Are you saying that trans women are not women?

Doesn't that actually make YOU transphobic?

What is anti trans about saying women are Adult Human Females?

I am only sorry I have never shopped with Ocado so that I cannot boycott them.

Trans women are not and never will be women.

Signed a disrespectful woman.

Gosh all these apologists for rapists in prisons.

Who knew women were so pro female prisoners being sexually assaulted by 'trans women'.

Such an eye opener.

The “enjoy my lady dick in your mouth, cuntwipe” is particularly telling of the mentality. Woman, adult human female.

Baffled as to why I am now being discouraged from describing myself with the OED definition of 'woman'.

'Adult human female' is an accurate description of who I am. Am I a bigot if I describe myself in that way, babysharksmummy? If so, why, given it is factually accurate?

People who say thing like ‘keep the TERF crap on the feminist board’ are the women who would have campaigned against the suffragettes.

Some women truly are their own worst enemies.

I know right?

80-90 percent of 'trans women' keep their penises and have no intention of wanting them removed. So lady dick ain't going away any time soon.

If you read the news articles on it rather than transphobic hysteria from this terrible woman who put the billboard up; it's the reasoning behind the billboard that Ocado disagree with.
The message is that trans women are not women, which isn't acceptable in 2018. It's prejudiced crap. 'adult human female' clearly implies that to be a 'woman' you have to be 'female' (ie have female genetalia) when it's well documented that people can be born in the wrong body and still identify as a woman.
It's perfectly possible to be a feminist without excluding trans women in that.
