To think that bikinis on toddlers are vile and wrong..

And to wonder why my Daugher has to wear anything on her top half atall ? I've spend hours this morning trying to find a nice pair of swimming shorts for her and have seen rails and rails of bikinis that are just scaled down versions of adult ones, little triangle tops and everything ! I am struggling to understand why anyone would dress their toddler like a mini adult, it's very saddening.

I am almost amused at the thought of these paedophiles that you know are only turned on by children in bikinis, but left cold by ones in bikini bottoms or swimsuits. I suspect this is terribly unrealistic.
I don't think my daughter will fall prey to some random paedophile on the beach, Kerrymum, because I, you know watch her. So she doesn't drown or get buried in sand or something, or bashed on the head with a bucket by some random child.

And for heavens sake some t-shirts are tacky and some are cute. Me, I wouldn't put my daughter in adult styled clothes. I like tweed coats and dresses with sashes and button shoes.

Enid · 09/06/2007 20:53

oui oui comme ca

MadamePlatypus · 09/06/2007 20:54

Its interesting. I don't own a one piece (wear speedo sporty style bikinis), but I don't think of myself as looking more sexy than if I were wearing a one piece. I just think its something to go swimming in.

Aloha · 09/06/2007 20:57

ooooh enid, don't you know you are just begging for your dds to be abused, showing off their bodies like that (not really, but you know that)
I think MN is obsessed with what paedophiles think.

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 20:58

Yes madame, I can't see that difference either. I dpon't think a bikini is sexier than a 1 piece swimsuit (I'm talking about adults here.

Enid · 09/06/2007 20:58

who cares about peados? As long as we are having a nice time on the beach and they are not actually wanking in sight I couldn't care less about them or their sad lives.

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 21:00

Lol. Honestly, I'm more concerned that they don't drawn.

ScottishMummy · 09/06/2007 21:13

i know liz hurley got pilloried for launching a leopard print bikini...imo Eeeeuugh so wrong

foxinsocks · 09/06/2007 21:16

I tell you what - you try and get a full costume off a toddler girl who is wearing armbands in less than a few minutes when they are screaming 'poo poo poo' and you'll know why bikinis are just SO much easier.

I am not sure if toddlers in bikinis are to my taste, but I strongly object to anyone suggesting that they should not wear them because of paedophiles

A child has the perfect right to be anywhere, dressed in anything, and be free from harrassment and abuse, the same way that adults do

suggesting that dressing them in a certain way increases the likelihood of them being abused, suggests some amount of culpability to me

thin end of the wedge
