To target a politician’s children is UNREASONABLE!

Just that. Not a fan of Rees-Mogg but no child should EVER be targeted so horribly anywhere, let alone on their doorstep. I am just so shocked that anyone thinks this is ok.

However much some people hoped it would be different, nobody on the Ledr has had anything but contempt for the people who did this.

YeTalkShiteHen ye really do talk shite.

YeTalkShiteHen · 13/09/2018 19:26

Boodapoo if ye say so. I tend to find people who just post insults don’t really have anything useful to say, so have a very nice evening won’t you?

Graphista · 13/09/2018 20:17

I agree BUT 2 things:

1 It's being claimed that Rees-Mogg himself brought the children out, he's certainly tried the "I'm a loving family man" Schtick to progress his career!

"R-M benefits from this kind of publicity. He uses his family as part of his public image." Exactly!

"A responsible parent would have sent the children back inside and not exploited them in this way" yep!

2 he and the majority of the Tory party don't think twice about implementing policies that are targeting MILLIONS of disabled children.

But yes it is out of order if only cos "they go low we go high" we shouldn't be stooping to their levels!

Wherever I go the video is heavily edited showing none of what happened before the comments being criticised. As always we're not getting the full picture.

Thefairycaravan - where is the full video? There's a link on class wars page but it seems to have been taken down!

So in my opinion BOTH the protestor AND RM are to blame. 70/30.

Everanewbie - have you or your loved ones been directly affected by Tory policy? Clearly NOT from the tone of your posts (or worse you don't think you are but you are - I have a few friends who vote Tory and they fall into that category yet can't see it!) The kind of people the policies target can only DREAM of private pensions and investments! Plus he's in a better position than the vast majority to withdraw his investment in anything against his morals/religion and invest elsewhere! It's worse than it being his intention to put the poor in impossible life threatening situations - he and his ilk think they deserve it! How can "scumbag" be too strong for someone who consistently votes and campaigns for the poor, sick, disabled to be even WORSE off?!

"but that won't mean he'd seek to change government policy on abortion or gay marriage" but yet he votes accordingly - is that what his constituents want? (Honestly I dread the answer!)

"Maybe he didn't agree with the wording" oh please! You're reaching now!

"When has a load of Tory supporters gone to a poor and disabled persons house and harangued their children." Spiritually/ethically

"I thought there was a news blackout on filming/photographing children for news etc without the parents permission." If JRM brought them out himself that would probably be seen as his giving permission.

Bridgetoc - Bone DOESN NOT represent all socialists/left wingers etc. What a ridiculous statement!

"I feel things have gotten worse - I don't recall seeing much about Blair's kids when they were in downing street" seriously? Blair regularly used them to depict himself as "an ordinary family man" but equally his critics delved into their school records, misdemeanours and iirc there was even talk of corruption regarding a property bought for one of them.

I agree with userxxx (hate those usernames), they can't have it all ways. The mp's shouldn't be using the children to further their careers either.

"The 2 police officials should've bundled all the protestors into a van like in the good old days? Where was the manpower for that?" Are you kidding?! There's around 20,000 fewer police officers that might have something to do with it!

Teething problems? Really? Teething problems generally don't lead to people losing their homes, jobs even their lives! NO Job creation, NO housing being built, just taking support from those MOST IN NEED.

His voting record says it all!

I agree, but I want to know why the parents/nanny didn't immediatly get those kids out of there! You can bet I would've got them straight inside, not hanging around outside with people like that!

Sleepless123456789 · 13/09/2018 20:49

It does seem a bit as though JRM was using them as 'bait' to make them seem more victimised, why else were they all just standing outside like lemons?

squeekyhead · 13/09/2018 21:07

Children do not choose their parents. The Rees- Mogg children are all still rather young (I believe all still primary school age or younger). They shouldn't have to put up with people badgering them on their own doorstep. The fact that politicians of all parties have condemned what has happened says it all for me, leave the kids alone.

Defrack · 13/09/2018 21:31

I will say again, yes it would have been good to get his kids back inside. But again by should he? He should be able to walk with his kids without them getting shouted at.

Westcountryvoice · 14/09/2018 12:37

Too much irresponsible negativity and polarisation, especially on social media, has stirred people up. JRM is just a politician. He is doing his best for his country as he sees it, like the others. The trouble is that people's opinion of him, as with the leaders of all the parties, is that a negative view of them is built up by their enemies that has no basis in reality. It is the portrayal that is believed, not the words and beliefs of the politicians themselves. Of course the families should be kept out of it, but there is no excuse to abuse the MPs either!

Dapplegrey · 14/09/2018 12:45

Really, Bertrand?
There have been several people on this thread who seemed to think what the protesters did was fine - Thankfully these posts have been deleted - and I guess these posters were on the left.

snugglybeans · 14/09/2018 12:47

The way those lefties attacked Rees-Mogg and his children was simply disgraceful, and says a lot about the impunity which they think they can operate with.

I can't say I agree with Rees-Moggs views (on abortion for example) but if there's one thing you can say for him is that he's exceedingly polite (in this instance, perhaps too polite!) and makes his case calmly and responsibly.

And enough of this equation of Rees-Mogg & these Class War idiots as both being 'extreme'. Clearly the people of North-East Somerset saw fit to elect him three times, and he represents the views of a sizeable minority of the country. Ian Bone on the other hand is a lunatic who represents a small but shouty number of idiots.

BertrandRussell · 14/09/2018 12:55

"The way those lefties attacked Rees-Mogg and his children was simply disgraceful"

It was disgraceful. But they were not "lefties". As Rees-Mogg himself made clear in his statement.

noraclavicle · 14/09/2018 21:06

“It was disgraceful. But they were not "lefties". As Rees-Mogg himself made clear in his statement.”

They’re as hard left as left goes..no fan of Corbyn but Bone’s organisation Class War has attacked Corbyn as much as they have others. Well, they haven’t doorstepped him and abused his family that I’m aware of.

The doorstepping was advertised in advance by Bone with a time and date, so this little piece of political theatre would have been no surprise to JRM. Bone is a despicable, dole-abusing nob frankly & the stunt was just as despicable as he is. It should never have happened & politician’s kids & families should never be targets But let’s not be naive, JRM played him.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 14/09/2018 21:10

I wonder if he has kids of his own or if he just liked yelling at other people's?

There's a man who would be better off volunteering at the local charity shop or hospital library.

SnorkFavour · 17/09/2018 14:31

That being said I am slightly worried by any intelligent person who is so religious and forms a belief system based on the ancient beliefs of a few middle eastern shepherds

Except it's not based on that is it? the Bible correctly talks about properties of stars Orion and Pleiades, thousands of years before telescopes were invented, it mentions the Earth being suspended above nothing, thousands of years before we knew that, it says that air has weight, aeons before we knew this, it talks about the cycle of weather long before we understood it, it talks about life being in the blood while we were still using leeches to drain blood away, it talks about using running water to wash germs away while we still used standing water to bathe wounds, it talks about pathways in the sea, lava in the Earth, particles indiscernible to our eyes (atoms etc), that we are made from dust, that light can be divided, that the Earth is a sphere, that the number of stars is incalculable when we believed there to be only around 5000, that a human was fully complete at conception, references DNA, that we all descended from one gene pool, how to avoid disease by eating carriers of disease, that we would worship creation (Mother Nature) rather than it's creator, talks about black holes, that the sun moves, the jetstream, quarantine ... i could go on ... all this known WAY before scientists found this out for a fact. So, no, it's not just based on 'a few middle eastern shepherds', however comically flippant you meant to be, you were wrong. I respectfully request that you, or anyone who can be bothered take time to let the enormity of what I've just typed sink in, rather than reject it out of habit. I'm happy to be proved wrong.

And yes, of course the man was wrong to target Rees-Mogg's children. It's come out now that he never paid child support for his own children hasn't it?
