To target a politician’s children is UNREASONABLE!

Just that. Not a fan of Rees-Mogg but no child should EVER be targeted so horribly anywhere, let alone on their doorstep. I am just so shocked that anyone thinks this is ok.

Typical behaviour of a lefty arsehole TBH

BackinTimeforTea · 13/09/2018 11:46

the class war bloke was also utterly inept - did he really think that JRM's nanny was going to reveal her salary or sympathize with him?

I agree with longweek though, the families of politicians should be completely off limits, and the amount of victim blaming about why they weren't removed is crazy - we don't know the context of what they were trying to do with the kids, maybe they were trying to go some where or take a family picture, there could have been a reason that they weren't removed.

Also, if someone said my daddy was a horrible man, it's a natural instinct for a child to want to stand there and defend their dad. It should just never have happened.

I feel things have gotten worse - I don't recall seeing much about Blair's kids when they were in downing street - lots of stuff about Cherie Blair and Sam Cam's outfits, but nothing like this involving their children.

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 11:51

Has the mouthy old guy been identified yet? I understand the clown guy in the background has but not seen any positive identification of the mouthy old guy.

Xiaoxiong · 13/09/2018 11:52

Metalmidget I disagree. This is not JRM's fault or any of the adults except the guy doing the shouting. I want parents, women, mothers to feel like they can enter politics without having to hide their children away from potential harm. The only person to blame here is the idiot who was verbally abusing the children. For all we know they were on the school run or going out for a hot chocolate. I don't want any politician to feel like their kids have to live in a bunker or they will be blamed for not protecting them. They have a right to a normal family life.

UpstartCrow · 13/09/2018 11:54

It looked like a set up to me. Back in the 1980's, Class War anarchists wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near his home or his kids.

snapkat · 13/09/2018 11:54

This seemed to be a photo opportunity for Mogg who seemed to want to milk it a bit, though he's perfectly entitled to stand on the street with his kids. The Class War idiot should be locked up for targeting his kids. And finally, both of those useless, police officials ( struggle to call them 'Officers' ) should be sacked for gross incompetence and dereliction as this was a public order offence.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 13/09/2018 11:55

It doesn't matter whether a parent uses their children for self promotion or not. The children don't have a choice, they should never be a target.

LittleLionMansMummy · 13/09/2018 11:56

There is a odd moral compass on here, I note that all left supporters have a short and selective memory when it comes to fairness and moral behaviour.

Do you really mean all left supporters? Because from the many replies, many are from those on the left wing of politics who are equally appalled that children were targeted and believe they are absolutely not fair game. I am one of them. So your statement is inaccurate. My moral compass is just fine thanks.

propatria · 13/09/2018 11:57

The mouthy old guy is Ian Bone, well known joke anarchist, class war activist and lover of all things Eton, few years ago he was more than happy to scream and shout abuse at my son among others, hes a real charmer..

user1471450935 · 13/09/2018 11:58

Can I ask a question
If MP's families are off limits, and the Kids should be, why the fuck does every Politian roll them out at every bloody event and election time?
Daddy/Mummy has an affair or does something wrong, pictured at home with said wife/husband and kids, many are bloody employed by their MP partners, I think LongWeek works for her Husband.
It's either one or the other. God why are we paying their salaries £77000, and then their spouses. Jobs for girls.
Police Officers, who die much more often then MP's got 2% this week, their independent pay board said 3%, who cut it?
I know who I feel sorry for.

BackinTimeforTea · 13/09/2018 11:59

where's the evidence that he was using his kids and it was a setup? The 2 police officials should've bundled all the protestors into a van like in the good old days? Where was the manpower for that? They weren't violent as JRM has said.

shouldn't we stick to the substantiated facts, that JRM's kids were involved in something they shouldn't have been?

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 12:08

Oh, I thought Ian Bone was the clown (excuse the pun). I've just taken a peek at his twitter. The guy really comes across as a pretty vile person from the content and language on his twitter.

Quangot · 13/09/2018 12:13

YANBU. There are many acceptable ways to challenge politicians, but that isn't one of them.

BertrandRussell · 13/09/2018 12:18

Rees Mogg has categorically stated that neither the Labour Party nor Momentum were involved in this incident, which has been categorically condemned by all sides.

Best forgotten, surely. Before it starts to look as if anyone’s trying to make political capital out of it?

Bombardier25966 · 13/09/2018 12:25

Ian Bone is a member of the Class War group, and despite the way some media outlets are portraying the incident, he has nothing to do with the Labour Party.

I'd actually put Bone and Rees Mogg in the same category, they both have extreme views and set out to stir up hate.

I don't agree with doorstepping politicians, whether children are involved or not.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 13/09/2018 12:27

I saw this and was taken aback

You can tell Mrs RM wanted to twat him one

Horrible unkind actions

Growingboys · 13/09/2018 12:27

Totally unreasonable.

Those poor children.

twoshedsjackson · 13/09/2018 12:30

I agree that family should be off-limits; that goes for older generation as well. Some time ago, our local Labour retired, )long-standing moderate) and rather than selecting a candidate with local connections, the powers that be at Central Office decided to helicopter in a "radical firebrand" type with no local connection, or much notion of constituency issues, probably reasoning that it was such a safe Labour seat.......she was not a popular choice, and did not go down well with the local loyal party activists, so feathers were ruffling. Even so, I felt sorry for the woman when journalists unearthed the fact that her father had been an abusive alcoholic who had several brushes with the law. So what? She had overcome her unfortunate start in life and was moving on (even if her brand of politics was not mine.....) and for that, I admired her. What relevance did they feel it had to the election campaign? I sometimes wonder what you could find out about said journalist if you cared to dig around.

Satsumaeater · 13/09/2018 12:47

I totally disagree with JRM's politics but to pick on his children/nanny is odious. I think the nanny was his nanny too, by the way.

I don't actually think he's that horrible as a person - Mhairi Black of the SNP says they're quite good friends yet I imagine they couldn't be further apart on the political spectrum.

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 12:49

Bert To be fair having read the bbc article on the incident JRM has already downplayed it and said it was a non event. The bbc also have it quite far buried in their website out of the headlines although Good Morning Britain were running with the story this morning.

specialsubject · 13/09/2018 12:50

bad enough to have JRM as your dad, to be targeted for it is appalling. And they are still very young. the rent a mob of Class War reach a new low.

this, I recall, is one reason why Chukka Umana wouldn't stand for Labour leader; he didn't want the hassle for his family.

Quangot · 13/09/2018 12:51

I have to agree, Satsumaeater. It's perfectly possible to like someone and be friends with them, even if you have very different beliefs about politics.

LittleLionMansMummy · 13/09/2018 12:52

If MP's families are off limits, and the Kids should be, why the fuck does every Politian roll them out at every bloody event and election time?

JRM trots his nanny and kids out a lot in public, yes - in a way most of us would feel uncomfortable with. That's his choice, not his kids', and we should still be above seeing children as a legitimate target just because they're paraded around by their parents. Whatever next? Children in beauty pageants being fair game for lewd comments from perverts?

LongWeek · 13/09/2018 12:53

@user1471450935 you are right- I do work for my DH. And most weeks do far more hours than I’m paid for. IMO that has nothing to do with politicians kids being a target. (And it’s not just jobs for girls- there are a fair few husbands employed too 😀)

My kids are not ever on DHs political leaflets. They are not pictured on his website. We do not ‘roll them out’ at elections. I rarely if ever put pictures of them on my personal Facebook. He might occasionally take them to an event (eg he’s opening a summer fair they like to go to the fair) but they aren’t photographed with him.

I know other people do things differently. But my kids didn’t ask to be the children of a politician- so they should have their privacy.

user1471450935 · 13/09/2018 12:58

By the way also the press are quite happy to use Jeremy Corbyn's child going to Grammar school, even though he was against it, to constantly attack his stance on education.
Every time you watch the news there are camera or protestors out side MP's houses. We do in fact work for us.
Seems it's ok to attack Corbyn, but not Saint Rees Mogg.

Also Rees Mogg has his kids on his Twitter feed, out of the Four local MP's I couldn't tell you if three have children, the Fourth a Tory never stops publicising, even though they are adults, every bloody newsletter and pamphlet has him, his wife and 2 DD on them, many as kids. He a prat though. Other 3 do a brilliant job with parading their kids around.

Double standards I think.
