To do a runner?

And move to Wales??

So here it is. I'm a qualified NHS professional with lots of options career-wise. No children, no debts or mortgage.
But I really don't want to stick around with my OH, he has made it clear over the last 5 years that he isn't going anywhere in life and (I have posted previously about this) when I try to break up the relationship will turn on the charm and wear me down until I agree to stick it out.
There is a recruitment campaign for the NHS in wales at the moment and they will pay relocation costs (not a lot, but enough to tidy up my current rental property, pay a bond on a new one, maybe hire a van to move my stuff). There are jobs that I could do now, some are 6 or 12 months fixed term; so if I didn't like it I could come back easily.
My parents have a holiday cottage in Snowdonia that I could do the changeovers for if I moved up there.
It's not like I'm moving to new zealand or australia, I could technically come back for a weekend visit and lots of my friends regularly come to wales for breaks, so I wouldn't be totally isolated.

plus - Wales!

Am I mad??

also he doesn't know about my plans, I think he keeps hoping I'll get a grip and call it all off. I can't believe this is happening. It's not fun at home AT ALL right now but I feel stronger, cold inside, no matter what happens he can't affect me any more!

Eeeeek!

That's great! Massive congratulations!

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 27/09/2018 21:35

Take ddog and RUN! XX

PurpleCrazyHorse · 27/09/2018 21:41

You could offer to pay a higher deposit regarding your dog or to have it written into the contract that you'll have the house professionally cleaned when you leave? Just a thought if it helps.

GiddyGardner · 27/09/2018 21:42

If you need to convince a landlord about DDog, just tell them that you will have it written into tenancy agreement that you will have the place professionally cleaned before you leave tenancy and that DDog will not bark all day whilst you are at work (because of dog walkers etc.). DDog will bloody love Wales and those long glorious walks!! Good luck, what an adventure!!

Love this thread and would love to be in position to do the same!

Can I just say when looking for a rental property I found plenty that accepted animals and not children!Grin

WasabiSpring · 27/09/2018 22:17

Also I know you are being tongue in cheek when you say 'do a runner' - but it's still nice to reframe it as 'walk swiftly towards great opportunities and a brand new life - hooray!' Grin

Enjoy - I grew up in North Wales. There are some lovely areas and some awful same as most places - but the lovely really are lovely. Also the NHS is grossly understaffed (worst I have seen anywhere) and bank work is abundant! We had reason to use A&E this year with one main bank senior nurse I have never seen anyone work so hard as some of the patients were a right handful.
