To think peeing in the shower is fine?

Dh thinks it's disgusting. I think it's fine.

The warm water makes me need a wee and I'm not going to get out, soak the floor, dry off and all that.

It's environmentally friendly as less toilet flushing

The water washes the wee away and it's only wee

I thought everyone did it occasionally.

Thanks @lyndsey that's so interesting, I'd read it was sterile in all the potty training guides, love a good mythbuster. Still think its fine to wee in there!

katielouise3 · 19/08/2018 12:07

It's gross.

HTH.

katielouise3 · 19/08/2018 12:10

These type of threads always make me LOL.

OP: 'AIBU to think pissing in the shower is fine?'

Other posters: 'no it's gross YABU.'

OP: 'No I'm not, it's fine. You are not a better person than me - just coz you don't piss in the shower.' Hmm

Cue a bunch of randoms on the thread saying people are weird and obsessive and 'probably need therapy' if they think pissing in the shower is a bit gross.

LOL.

SneakyGremlins · 19/08/2018 12:12

I had a thread on this a couple months back. Got VERY heated..

katielouise3 · 19/08/2018 12:21

Was that the warmth from the piss in the shower tray @sneakygremlins ? Grin

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 19/08/2018 12:26

I believe I read on here a while ago, that pooing in a shower is an actual 'thing'. It's called Wafflestomping or something akin.

vdbfamily · 19/08/2018 13:38

I think the thing about tampons is to do with the idea of feeling clean. I would not want to get out of a shower without a fresh tampon. The idea of a tampon is to absorb blood and not ruin your clothes. This is not a danger in the shower so it is more healthy to shower without and then use a fresh one when finished so you feel you are starting again nice and fresh if that makes sense. I think the differing opinions on this may be a divide between those who have very heavy periods and others like me who can remove one for a shower and not be overwhelmed by heavy bleeding!

AngelsAckiz · 19/08/2018 13:54

The shower makes me want to pee whereas I didn't need to go before I got in.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 19/08/2018 13:56

No. It's not fine. Toilets, yes, drains, if you really must. Showers? Nope nope nope.

DS1 liked to piddle in the bath or shower every time he went in. All well and good when they're tiny and have no control but when there's a 5'10" manchild stood in my ensuite pissing himself liberally I cannot control my wrath.

Strugglingtodomybest · 19/08/2018 14:08

As someone who obviously has a very strong opinion on this, could you explain why you say nope nope nope? I really really really don't understand why you wouldn't.

ferrier · 19/08/2018 14:13

Answering the earlier post about tampon strings getting wet when weeing, I always change the tampon at the same time. Would not like a wet string!

Gottagetmoving · 19/08/2018 14:27

I wouldn't make a habit of it but try being past menopause age with a leaky bladder...and it happens!

It's not disgusting or gross, it's washed away for goodness sake!
People can be far too precious about ridiculous stuff.

NannyMcfanny · 19/08/2018 20:51

I remember reading that peeing in the shower was to be encouraged to save water.

snowone · 19/08/2018 21:05

I reckon most people pee in the shower Grin I don't see the harm in it, it goes straight down the plug hole and then you have a wash!

TheDowagerCuntess · 19/08/2018 21:34

I'm not that poster, but if peeing in the shower isn't something you've ever done, can't you see that it just wouldn't be something that seems appealing...?

Weeing down your leg. Making sure all the wee is properly washed away. Even though it's lovely and sterile (yeah right!).

If you've only ever weed in the loo because a). it's right there, and b). it's specially invented for weeing in, then the idea of weeing on yourself is just wrong.

userxx · 19/08/2018 21:46

Nothing wrong with peeing in the shower, saves on loo roll too. It's all about saving the planet.

It's bodily fluid. It's something that we have a waste system designed to get rid of; I can't understand why anyone would want it running down their legs in a place where they're supposed to be getting clean. It just makes no sense to me at all. Plus then there's the fact that the shower base will need to be cleaned even more frequently because surely it'll start to smell like urine after a time?

Also, one of our cats likes to drink the water left in the bottom of the shower cubicle. I'd hate to think she was drinking someone's pee, poor old girl.

psychomath · 19/08/2018 21:55

I don't because I don't like the feeling (tried it once after finding out loads of people do it), but I wouldn't judge anyone who does. The point about it being more environmentally friendly is actually making me think that maybe I should!

userxx · 19/08/2018 21:55

@Idontbelieveinthemoon does your loo smell like pee after you've flushed? The shower doesn't either as it's getting flushed down with the water.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 19/08/2018 22:06

Ha, it's hard to tell at the minute as the DC seem to have reverted to "liberally wave your penis about the bathroom" mode whenever they pee!

I see your point, and it probably makes more environmental sense. I'm just not sure I could unclench and let go!

Gillian1980 · 19/08/2018 22:12

I do it! I don’t see the problem, it’s gone down the plug in a split second and is washed away with the shower water.

I share showers with my toddler and tell her it’s fine to wee down the plug hole.

Doesn’t bother me what anyone else thinks of it, I’m at ease with my actions.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 19/08/2018 22:14

*I've seen threads about peeing in the shower before. Some posters think it's dirty because it splashes up the side of the cubicle!

Unless you're a horse or a fire hydrant, this doesn't happen. It just disappears down the plughole alongside several dozen litres of water.*

GrinGrin

Of course it's fine. Water is flowing down your body as you wee and you also wash your body in the shower. The wee goes down the plug hole along with shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The whole bathroom and shower cubicle doesn't smell like piss as a pp stated, it's the same principle as a toilet you wee and water takes it down the pipe.

TroysMammy · 19/08/2018 22:17

A shower makes me pee even though I peed in the toilet beforehand. My toilet and shower are on different floors.

TotHappy · 19/08/2018 22:23

Wait... The pp who said that one must have a bizarrely wide vaginal opening to be able to douche Shock are you serious?? To be able to get a stream of water up there you must be bizarrely wide? But, but, water is so fluid!

userxx · 19/08/2018 22:28

@Idontbelieveinthemoon Ha ha! I was very much the same, clenching for dear life until a nasty water infection left me with no choice, I was slightly mortified that I couldn't hold on but hey ho.

My friend who has ibs had a poo in a car park once, made my peeing in the shower seem much more dignified 😏
