To think peeing in the shower is fine?

Dh thinks it's disgusting. I think it's fine.

The warm water makes me need a wee and I'm not going to get out, soak the floor, dry off and all that.

It's environmentally friendly as less toilet flushing

The water washes the wee away and it's only wee

I thought everyone did it occasionally.

I would never wear a tampon to shower as it would get wet when you cleaned yourself and then presumably drip whilst you were trying to dry. Personally I would have a tampon handy and last thing give myself a good douche and insert clean tampon before drying myself.

You do know vdbfamily that this isn't advisable?

vdbfamily · 18/08/2018 11:48

Why....which bit is not advisable? Obviously if I knew it was not advisable I would not do it!!

Strugglingtodomybest · 18/08/2018 11:51

Interested by the idea that however much you wash the shower wee can resist and remain to cling to your feet. Fascinating. Kind of makes washing anything seem redundant if it in fact has no effect on removing smells and stains.

It must be homeopathic wee, no matter that there is no trace of it at all in the shower, it's effects still linger.

vdbfamily · 18/08/2018 11:53

I was pondering this in my morning shower and those worried re walls and toiletries maybe have overbath showers which if a man is peeing standing up I can see how the pee might not go where it should!! In a cubicle it is hard to see what the problem is and if a child got covered in poor for whatever reason I would shower that off too.

RedneckStumpy · 18/08/2018 11:55

The shower join’s the same plumbing as the toilet, pee is sterile. No major issue

Lumbagokid · 18/08/2018 11:55

I can be a prissy mare but I have had a pee in the shower on many occasions.
I think the people who find it disgusting are the ones who separate all their washing
and won’t wash certain things together

RtHonLady · 18/08/2018 12:05

vdbfamily the washing inside your vagina/douching. The vagina is self-cleansing, flushing out the good bacteria isn't recommended.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 18/08/2018 12:07

I’m with your DH, it’s a no In this household. Pee before you get in the shower.

Onthebrink87 · 18/08/2018 12:16

I pee in the shower all the time. Definately saves on flushes etc shitting isn't remotely similar though ffs! I have a small shit bucket in the shower I use then I just plop it in the wheelie bin when it gets full! I cant remember the last time I used my toilet - so historic and wasteful! (You get a much better clean with the shower head than you would with loo roll anyway) Wink

CatRen27 · 18/08/2018 12:18

@lyndsaykola i often don't wear my mooncup in the shower as i give it a good wash under the warm water. When drying down there i use some loo roll to save the towel and then pop in my mooncup again plus pad as I'm a gusher

CatRen27 · 18/08/2018 12:19

And agree weeing in the shower is totally fine - its sterile

Yogafailure · 18/08/2018 12:21

I love how often this comes up on MN. I've never peed in a shower in my life and until I found this site years ago I have no idea that anyone would do this.

If I ever do pee in the shower it's because I'm losing my faculties and it'll be time to check into a retirement home 🤣

BunsOfAnarchy · 18/08/2018 12:22

I would normally say no....
THEN i had a baby.
Totally acceptable now lol

Hidillyho · 18/08/2018 12:27

I rinse the potty out in the bath. Is there much difference between that and an adult peeing in the shower?

I do but I’m partially disabled so sitting on a toilet to pee is painful when I then need to stand back up. Especially in the morning. It takes me longer to get off the toilet than it does to actually go to the toilet so peeing in the shower is easier, quicker and far less painful. Wee away people, wee away

nicebitofquiche · 18/08/2018 12:55

Efforts to defend this practice are amusing.

Efforts to say it's wrong are more amusing and totally unfounded in any actual facts Grin

PinguDance · 18/08/2018 13:06

Homeopathic wee lol

At least those of us who wee in the shower get to feel environmentally smug. Take that judgy non shower wee’ers!

AynRandTheObjectivist · 18/08/2018 13:10

Have none of these horrified people ever had a toddler? They pee and poo in the bath regularly. When my toddler shat the bath, I would pull the plug, so some shitty water went down the drain. Then I used toilet paper to scoop out as much as possible and throw it in the toilet. Then I'd rinse and disinfect the bath, sending a few more flakes down the drain. Then I'd wash my hands in hot soapy water. Then I got on with life.

I don't know, what do other people do in that situation?

jasjas1973 · 18/08/2018 13:22

Perhaps those that have ever unblocked a bath or a shower might take a different view?
The waste pipes (only 20mm) can absolutely stink, easily clogged with slim and sludge, which absorb your piss as well as anything else you wash down there.

What if you re a family of 5 pissing in the shower every day? why not use the sink as well? just run the taps, it ll fine!

Once in a while no problem at all but to make a habit of pissing in the shower is lazy, its not a toilet,

ferrier · 18/08/2018 14:51

Why would waste pipes absorb pee whwn it's being washed down by water?

If doctors recommend the practice then it's the non-peeers who should be laughed at for defending their position Grin

FASH84 · 18/08/2018 14:53

When DH cleans the shower he can pee in there

TillyTadpole · 18/08/2018 14:58

I got as far as the first response....

I am with your DH. Would defecate in the shower as well if you felt the need and though you could wash it down the drain? Or vomit?

What we do without MN? 😂😂😂

Binkytheslug · 18/08/2018 15:00

I thought everyone did until it came up in a discussion at work (night shifts tend to do that), and several colleagues were revolted. I think most of us who have been students (or just teenagers in general) have been sick in a shower at one point too...

JuneFromBethesda · 18/08/2018 15:03

I would normally say no....
THEN i had a baby.
Totally acceptable now lol

Ha, me too! Grin

Binkytheslug · 18/08/2018 15:04

Now that it’s been almost 30 years since I left university, and there’s a pretty good likelihood they aren’t on Mumsnet, it can be revealed that an acquaintance of mine pooed in a shower when they were in a severely refreshed state.

Binkytheslug · 18/08/2018 15:06

‘Tired and emotional’, as they say....
