I would love to have a budget big enough to go on it one day but they all seem to have 500k at the age of 21 these days 🤔

Watching with interest.

It’s grand designs where they say

“I’m a professional basket weaver and my wife is a stay at home Mum and our budget is £900,000...”

Hmm
Jeffjefftyjeff · 02/08/2018 07:21

I know two couples who were on it. Both said P & K lovely, genuinely knew their stuff, chatted off camera etc. The phone call to make an offer on a house was genuine (not staged) and nerve wracking.

soundButtons · 02/08/2018 07:46

They came and looked at my ex-neighbour's house. Didn't buy it but spent 6-7 hours there. Chatted to us while the couple were chatting by themselves.

Only Kirsty was there for it but she gave the seller some advice on how to sell his property to the wider market.

DH walked into our front door and bust his lip because the silly man has a crush on her and wasn't looking.

Wishfulmakeupping · 02/08/2018 10:39

😂 buttons
Glad to hear they are nice in rl they do seem very likeable

Ahh I'm so glad Phil & Kirsty are lovely. I thought / hoped they would be.

Blobby10 · 02/08/2018 11:46

Was watching an episode from 8 years ago and up popped my daughters friends parents!! They didn't choose any of the houses they were shown but said it was a great week of filming. Long hours though and great fun. The presenter was one I had never seen before - not Phil or Kirstie or Alastair or Aled!!

JediJim · 21/09/2018 20:47

Anyone see this week’s LLL? Set in Bromley and Dartford. My old stomping ground, know both areas fairly well. I was surprised that £300k didn’t seem to buy that much in Dartford. I’m sure that just a few years ago you could buy a nice 3 bedroom semi for around £250 in Dartford...
The other couple with a budget of £750k. Even in Bromley you can get a nice house for £500k, not sure why anyone wouldn’t be able to buy a house with 3 quarters of a million!!
First time buyers too. How do these people get such big deposits??

bridgetreilly · 21/09/2018 21:24

I've seen plenty of episodes where the budget is £100-£150k, though not in London/SE. First time buyers getting 2-bed terraces or 1-bed flats. It's not Escape to the Country where you have to have £500k and want a pool and room for a pony.

bridgetreilly · 21/09/2018 21:26

The Bromley couple weren't first time buyers. He owned the flat they were living in.

JediJim · 22/09/2018 21:28

Oh yes I missed that bit, he already owned a London flat. Still, these young couples with £750 k budgets. He worked from home too. Wish I had that kind of budget!

trojanpony · 23/09/2018 01:29

I don’t think Kirsty and Phil get “the bargains” like they used to in the old days

When I was buying (years ago) the market was overheating and I was v stressed about finding somewhere - Kirsty and Phil did an episode with a female FTB in the exact area I was looking in.
I was gutted naturally but tuned in to see what I missed out on.

The buyer wanted a two bed in a not too rough bit the nice part of the area.

She ended up being shown a couple of standard two bed flats (the stock is very similar in that area in terms of sq ft) and an ugly ass ONE bed... which she actually bought!?
All were “bijou” in terms of sq footage

I had assumed Kirsty and Phil were going to uncover a 900sq foot two double bed place within 5 mins of the station so felt v conflicted by the ended of the show Confused

Still love Kirsty and Phil though!

Gorillaandme · 23/09/2018 01:54

I love location x 3. Really need Kirsty and Phil in my life right now as can't seem to shift my house and on a tight time frame Confused

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/09/2018 02:21

He's a bit tasty, Mr.Spencer ! 😍😄

abbey44 · 23/09/2018 02:36

My house was chosen for an episode of Escape to the Country last year - I was so excited, as I love that programme. I had five days' notice for the filming and you can probably imagine the efforts I went to to make sure it was perfect...let's just say I pulled in every favour I was owed and our local Sainsbury's had no lilies left. It couldn't have looked any better.

Anyway. They spent the Monday afternoon filming and brought the couple round on the Wednesday afternoon (filming schedule is Monday-Thursday). Jonnie Irwin was the presenter (he's lovely, just like he appears on the TV) and he was very complimentary about my house. I went off, but fifteen minutes later I was called back - there was a problem. Apparently, as the couple were driven in, they said "oh, we've already seen this and we're not interested". Refused to even get out of the car. How bloody rude was that?? The crew were livid, and said they should have just shut up and gone round anyway, but to no avail. I don't know if they managed to find another house to film at such short notice, but I haven't seen that episode aired on TV yet...

flirtygirl · 23/09/2018 02:38

Phil is like fine wine, aging really well and very tasty.

Bloodybridget · 23/09/2018 02:43

Love watching LLL and have said to DP that when we finally decide to move we'll have to get P&K to help with our impossible and conflicting requirements!

Deathraystare · 23/09/2018 07:24

Not LLL but one of those makeover progs. My brother and his (then) wife. Thank goodness they had a makeover as the hose was tiny, filled with victoriana and crap (and a number of dogs). The best thing was getting rid of the decoupage on the doors.......Ugh. When it was finished (in a cool Gustavian - Swedish style) it looked cleaner and brighter.

ihatethecold · 23/09/2018 07:36

I liked Phil until I saw photos of him on twitter hunting big game. The photo was him with his kill looking pleased as punch. 🤬

Whatsnewwithyou · 23/09/2018 07:47

I didn't know that about Phil but I've googled it and you're right, he's big into hunting. Deer and pheasants and things rather than lions but still, not pleasant at all. I already disliked Kirstie who destroys ipads and flies business with the kids in coach so they're someone else's problem.

I prefer selling houses with Amanda Lamb and all the Sarah Beany programmes. Much more fun and Amanda Lamb's taste us terrible which adds to the suspense for me - she often advises things to do really fugly things to their homes like garish bright geometric feature walls with clashing accessories. Sometimes the couple's fight back.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 23/09/2018 07:50

I love location! Some people do have me screaming at the tv “having viewed over 50 properties they still haven’t found the right one”...Hmm how ridiculously fussy or naive are you?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/09/2018 08:04

@ihate the cold, wow, that changes everything .... 😵
I don't trust myself to comment further, incredibly disappointing.🤐😡

Unfinishedkitchen · 23/09/2018 08:09

Wel I didn’t know Phil was a big game hunter. Gone right off him now, hope one of his prey tramples him.

A580Hojas · 23/09/2018 08:17

@abbey44 - oh no! How incredibly frustrating for you. I think I'd probably cry if that happened to me when I'd made all that effort!

Ginorchoc · 23/09/2018 08:20

I didn’t know that about Phil either!! Awful.

Apparently the home owners receive £80 for a days filming.

EdisonLightBulb · 23/09/2018 08:21

An old friend has been on a very recent episode and contacted me to let me know. Her budget was 250k she said it was loads of fun and not staged and they genuinely bought the house they chose on the programme.
