Sorry if there’s already a thread been reading the CDWM thread with interest...but would to know any secrets about locationx3
I would love to have a budget big enough to go on it one day but they all seem to have 500k at the age of 21 these days 🤔
Any secrets kirsty and Phil seem lovely I hope they are as nice in RL

When we were looking here, Norfolk, a number of houses we had seen turned up on Escape To The Country as holiday homes, that put our budget in its place!
I like their other programme Love It or List It, we saw it a few years ago in the US and both said That's one for Kirsty and Phil.

housepicturesqueclub · 23/09/2018 08:28

Kirsty is from an old money , property owning family. Phil used to be an estate agent that went bankrupt.
They have spent the last 15 years basically telling the nation that its a 'fast moving market' and to offer as much as possible for a house quick before someone else gets it, their negotiating skills are intentionally useless. If they manage to get 5k off the price of a 900k house they think they have done an amazing deal for a couple.
I saw it last week and felt sorry for the couple who paid 10k over asking price 360k for a shitty small rundown house with damp and roof leaks, just because Kirsty said that it would be gone soon if they didn't.
They are not on the side of the buyer.

EggbertHeartsTina · 23/09/2018 08:29

Our home was on LLL, Phil was showing it to a couple. They didn't buy it. And we certainly weren't paid £80 for the filming.

Jeippinghmip · 23/09/2018 08:31

I love the property programmes. Has anyone seen the identical Canadian twins Jonathan and Drew Scott? I love their show and the guys are lovely.

Girlsnightin · 23/09/2018 08:36

I love the twins too. They started out a wee bit cocky but recent series really show then as nice guys. I have a tv crush on one of them but get mixed up as they are so similar!

ProseccoThyme · 23/09/2018 08:36

I met p&k briefly when staying in Glasgow. K was friendly & looked very groomed.

One of the school mums in DC's year was featured locally & bought in the area P&K introduced her to (not in the area she had originally looked).

And yes, where do these 20-something's get the deposit on a 500k-1m home from?

Jeippinghmip · 23/09/2018 08:38

Yes, I have a crush on Jonathan. He could come and do my DIY any time soon.

Ginorchoc · 23/09/2018 08:39

Oh, An estate agent on it told me about the payment. Maybe your agent was paid it. My agent friend paid the house owner the money provided.

Treacletoots · 23/09/2018 08:41

@Jeippinghmip YES! I love this show. Those guys are both amazing and handsome as! I do love the reactions of the buyers when they show them their dream home at the start though and they find out it's twice their budget...

Not LLL but my neighbour's ex wife went on George Clarke's renovation one.

Well. Apparently he pretty much destroyed the house and doubled her budget. She still doesn't have working taps and some floorboards. But the rooms they worked in look great! She's not got the cash to sort out the rest of the issues and has to live in it for now.

George himself 'allegedly' turned up hungover every day for filming and laid on the couch until it was time to work. How not expected of everyone's fave Geordie George..

I personally prefer LIOLI to LLL. I've had enough of screaming at the telly at those super fussy FTBs who couldn't possibly live without en suite, a downstairs toilet, two parking spaces and a huge extended living space, and expect it on their budget

Washedwithrain · 23/09/2018 08:44

I love A Place in the Sun, especially when Jonnie and Jasmine present.

BikeRunSki · 23/09/2018 08:46

George Clark was lurking round the next street last week. There’s a small and knackered house just been sold, with several outbuildings, so I guess he’ll be making one of them amazing. The film crew were all over the road and were apparently quite rude to my friend as she tried to get out if the street to go to work.

AamdC · 23/09/2018 08:48

An aquaintence of mine have just had DIY SOS they do genuinly look for local builder's etc, unfortunatly they are not allowed to show photos untill the programme airs sometime next yearHmm

distantstars · 23/09/2018 08:49

We applied for LLL a few years ago but never heard anything.... I always loved property ladder with Sarah Beany ... love her. I wanted to grow up and be her assistant and best friend 😂

Bigpuglittlepug · 23/09/2018 08:50

My neighbours did one of these shows, it was a gardening one. Not wanting to out myself here I won't say what happened but something of stupendous scale enormous eyesore was built in the garden & painted dark grey. A year later they put the house on the market at a vastly inflated price because of the designer garden. No one would touch it with a barge pole. It came off market for a year before being put up for sale a second time. No one wanted to live with that hideous monstrosity. Eventually it was sold at a massive discount to a couple who brought in heavy equipment & 6 weeks later the whole garden had been demolished and rebuilt more normally. Much to the relief of all of us who had to look out on it.

Jeippinghmip · 23/09/2018 08:51

I also like Escape to the Country but I don’t like all the presenters. I love Jules, he’s the best! I’m not keen on some of the female presenters although Nicki is ok.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 23/09/2018 08:51

I don't understand a Place in the Sun. Susan wants to buy a house in Marbella, despite never having been. Why not rent somewhere for a bit and see if you like it?

bridgetreilly · 23/09/2018 08:52

Not LLL but my neighbour's ex wife went on George Clarke's renovation one. Well. Apparently he pretty much destroyed the house and doubled her budget.

That show made me so angry. He ALWAYS doubled people's budget. He ought to be showing people how to get the best from the budget they had, not just telling them to spend £50k more.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 23/09/2018 08:52

Escape to the country is frustrating because they never ever buy

Jeippinghmip · 23/09/2018 08:54

They do sometimes on ETTC. They did a show recently where they visited people who had bought on the show, to see how they were doing.

I always want to know the outcome, at the end of the show but they don’t always tell you.

lidoshuffle · 23/09/2018 08:55

I love the Property Ladder ones starring totally deluded prats who don't listen to Sarah Beeny and which go horribly (fabulously) wrong. The Rotherhide sausage factory and the Chiswick basement excavation ones leap to mind.

TaxCredits · 23/09/2018 08:55

They are the poster children for the cancerous sentiment of making housing in the UK a speculative investment rather than a home.

They are also useless at negotiation.

Horrible, horrible people.

morningconstitutional2017 · 23/09/2018 09:04

Someone local went on Escape to the Country. They had no intention of moving house and just wanted to appear on telly. Somehow they blagged their way on and enjoyed a night away.

EggbertHeartsTina · 23/09/2018 09:05

Gino wouldn't surprise me, my agents were a bit rubbish. And I made the mistake of being all excited about meeting Phil, I should've acted like it was actually a massive inconvenience Blush

Ginorchoc · 23/09/2018 09:18

He is easy on the eye 😁

I also like Coast it Country, one of the presenters is annoying but can’t think of her name.?

Ginorchoc · 23/09/2018 09:18

*coast or country
