Sorry if there’s already a thread been reading the CDWM thread with interest...but would to know any secrets about locationx3
I would love to have a budget big enough to go on it one day but they all seem to have 500k at the age of 21 these days 🤔
Any secrets kirsty and Phil seem lovely I hope they are as nice in RL

ETTC makes me laugh, show couple around a massive kitchen bigger than my entire flat and they pulling faces because it’s “too small”. Always retired couples who need a 5 bed for some reason.

Op have you got a link to the cdwm thread?

HashTagLil · 23/09/2018 10:25

I love the Property Brothers shows, including the one where they were doing up their own house.

LLL bugs me where you get 2 x 20 year olds who work in a supermarket NMW with a max budget of £500k (from where?) who the can double their budget at the drop of a hat!! Bank of Mum and Dad I presume?

We LOVE Escape to the Country. We think there's a secret code at the end of the programme whereby the more cakes on the table, the higher the chance of them making an offer.

brizzledrizzle · 23/09/2018 10:31

I liked Phil until I saw photos of him on twitter hunting big game. The photo was him with his kill looking pleased as punch. 🤬

Tosser. That's him off viewing list then.

AamdC · 23/09/2018 10:33

Once Kevin was on the scene, the woman always got pregnant Hmm

So true! We were looking at a project at one point and one of my friends said we could apply for GD and I replied "but I don't want any more babies"

Nanny0gg · 23/09/2018 10:37

House Doctor with Ann Maurice and Alisdair was fabulous. It's been brought back with a zany American who loves lairy wallpaper and fabrics. She is very irritating.

The Colin and Justin shows in Canada were good - some of the houses (usually quite small) looked amazing afterwards - very tasteful but with the odd quirky bit. Same as the ones the two Canadian brothers do.

MatildaTheCat · 23/09/2018 10:40

Loved this weeks’ GD, a beautifully restored folly nestled in the heart of rolling English countryside, yada yada. Not one mention made of its approximately 50 meter proximity to a noisy, busy A road to enjoy from their rooftop terrace. Grin

ProseccoThyme · 23/09/2018 10:42

Oh, Alasdair from House Doctor - I did fancy him!

Gilead · 23/09/2018 10:46

I think you may be in for a surprise Prosecco, unless you're male!

Ds has met Kevin socially a couple of times. Says he's a really nice chap, very interesting and very interested.

eco1636 · 23/09/2018 10:48

On George Clark’s original show he used to say “you don’t actually need all these bedrooms, so I’m going to turn one into a staircase and knock the others into a master suite”. So a 5 bedroom place would become a 2 bedroom place and they’d have spend way more than they’d ever get back on selling.

LLL came to our town once and Phil was pissed they didn’t go for the house he showded them, which ticked all the boxes. It was on a really busy A road and pretty minging given their budget was £1m.

Nondescriptname · 23/09/2018 10:50

First time buyers too. How do these people get such big deposits??

Probably from an inheritance, is my guess.

ISendNoComplimentsToYourMother · 23/09/2018 10:50

60 minute makeover - that’s the program my friends neighbour was on. The makeover went on for longer than 60 minutes. Neighbour moved out for a couple of days. Or that could have been after she’d seen her house & burst out crying.

AamdC · 23/09/2018 10:54

I have nevet seen an episode of a place in the sun wherre they have actually bought any properties shown, even if they make an offer and ots accepted theres usuallt a bit at the end that says after my consideration Sarah and John deceided against buying the apartment in llore de mar but are still considering properties in the area Hmm

AamdC · 23/09/2018 10:55

Was she crying tears of joy or devastation ISend

ProseccoThyme · 23/09/2018 10:56

@eco1636 - I see what you mean now!!

Flashingbeacon · 23/09/2018 10:57

I love grand designs but for all the wrong reasons. Mainly I love when they finish the house but have run out of money to furnish it so it’s full of their Ikea furniture for the 3 bed terrace that doesn’t match a barn conversation. And the kids always end up with a box room. Basically I don’t understand it at all.

MeAgainSparkle · 23/09/2018 11:00

I know a couple who were on Grand Designs years ago. Both are leading architects (she having won a RIBA award) not exactly representative of the general public but makes good TV I suppose

itwaseverthus · 23/09/2018 11:05

@lakielady I think you live near me...

ISendNoComplimentsToYourMother · 23/09/2018 11:06

Devastation

SweetheartNeckline · 23/09/2018 11:08

We'd been to see a house that later popped up on the Amanda Lamb programme. They dropped the price a bit and tarted up the kitchen and it sold within a week or two, having been on for a year or so. I felt a pang when it came on, we'd dismissed it out of hand but it made me rethink for a second! I've always thought I'm open minded with housing but apparently not.

Most of the people on LLL seem to want a seller that's made a massive mistake and under priced their house by 25%!

CoffeeShortbread · 23/09/2018 11:12

60minute makeover always looks like a trolley dash in HomeSense. Slapdash, chaotic with waaaaaay too much, way too big furniture and too big patterns crammed into an average sized house.
