Hairless foofs

Ginismyfriendx · 06/07/2018 01:02

So can't sleep and watching naked attraction (please do judge me, I deserve it)
Are completely bare foofs a thing now? Having had a nasty experience of an ingrown hair from shaving bikini line (which required anti-biotics) why go through that? Nevermind the faff. Who want's an evening shadow on their lady bits?
All for a bit of pruning, but uprooting?

Overall, this is a fashion and like all fashions the pendulum will swing the other way in the end. There is already a backlash mainly in the US where slebs are happy to show a full bush.

What is unnerving is how women are pressurised into thinking bare=normal, when it's not. Hairy is normal. It's there for a purpose. It's not the same as armpit or leg hair when it comes to health.

Before porn was available online, ALL the lads' mags had women showing bushes. If you look at art throughout history the majority of women have pubic hair in the paintings.

But porn online shows shaved women so the camera can get in close and show their genitals in all their glory. There may also be a subconscious paedophilia element too.

I feel really sorry for young women who spend their time and money getting rid of their pubes. Either because they have been made to feel it's 'yucky' or that boys/men prefer it. If you think you are not subject to societal pressure, you are naive.

Vashna · 10/07/2018 09:19

I think some men probably do prefer a bush, but I think it’s becoming less of the norm. I think this is more down to the general media, to be honest, rather than porn. In magazines and advertising, women are always size 8 ish, hairless and perfect teeth. This is the subliminal message that permeates society.
In contrast, on porn websites there are categories for all “types” - older women, small /large breasts (not phrased like that sadly), the delightful “MILFS” category and even more delightful “teen” one, “fat” women (again far more offensively titled) and so on. There are the surgically enhanced women of course, but most of it is amateur or low budget and pretty grim.

SickOfSitting · 10/07/2018 09:25

No not all men prefer a shaved fanjo. All I was trying to point out is I wouldn't take a lot of men too literally when they say they "don't " like the look of it or that they "don't " watch porn. Perhaps my own experience along the way has made me sceptical.

I have shaved for years and years. When I was single I shaved and I don't spend money, other than to buy the razor, to have it removed. When I started shaving, a lot of porn still had women with a full(ish) bush and porn wasn't as available as it is today on the Internet. It was there but not as available as today.

The reason I stay on these threads is to challenge the view that women are either removing it through pressure from someone and they are doing so at great expense!

It's all preference but I do mine because I prefer it, I have never done it to please a man and would continue to if I was single again like I did before. Plus it doesn't cost a thing other than a razor!

If a woman only ever wore t shirts and never exposed her underarms to anyone other than her dp, would you still find it odd if she shaved? Even if no one was going to see it?

LemonJ · 10/07/2018 09:32

As I said up thread, nobody on a desert island on their own ever said "oh I must get rid of this hair!" Stop trying to convince yourself that you are not influenced by society and what men think. I might add that the men that you seem to have experience of is different to mine, you are not more experienced than everyone else you know!

"He doesn't watch porn" That old chestnut! Maybe he doesn't but don't be too sure **

This is patronising.

Joey7t8 · 10/07/2018 09:33

It always makes me chuckle when I read the phrase ‘my DH doesn’t watch porn’.

9/10 times, he’s lying.

Roussette · 10/07/2018 09:44

Or maybe Joey the man has an exciting sex life and doesn't feel the need to watch porn?

Vashna · 10/07/2018 09:58

I think most men do watch porn but it’s not always a replacement for sex or they don’t link the two in their minds. Sorry if tmi, but DH describes it as a “mechanical aid” and he mainly uses porn if he’s away. All men and women “DIY” and we’re all thinking of something when we do. I think men have less imagination to be honest, so need the visuals, whereas I don’t personally. It has nothing to do with real life relationships unless it becomes an addiction.

BertrandRussell · 10/07/2018 10:02

Personally, I would not want to be with a man who thought of women -even "other" women-as commodities to be bought and sold. Can't imagine how anyone could want to, frankly.

Vashna · 10/07/2018 10:05

Please don’t get me wrong btw, I think porn is very damaging on a societal level, but the issue of shaving or not is the least worrying aspect of it. Most men are shaved in porn too and this has also infiltrated into real life now as you rarely see a man under 35 with a hairy chest or back. That’s a lot of waxing going on.

WickedLazy · 10/07/2018 10:12

I used to take it all off. I still do from time to time, if it's getting really long, but these days I usually have a wide landing strip, with no hair anywhere else, including bum, which is easier to maintain than removing all foof hair (which looks too little girly to my eyes now).

I'm really hairy, and could easily rival Demi Moore in those photo's, within a fortnight. I don't like it when it gets too hairy, it doesn't feel as clean? Especially during my period.

Vashna · 10/07/2018 10:12

Bertrand, they don’t pay to watch porn, it’s all free. It’s easier than watching Netflix. If they actually had to subscribe to a site, leave details or payment info, or have a password or something, they probably wouldn’t bother.

JacquesHammer · 10/07/2018 10:13

Bertrand, they don’t pay to watch porn, it’s all free

The women in the porn have been bought and are being sold, whether the vehicle they’re being watched on is free or not.

TornFromTheInside · 10/07/2018 10:21

Indeed, even amateur exhibitionists are exploited by the porn industry. You don't have to be aware, or outraged in order to be exploited.

Porn isn't free. It may appear to be free to watch, but the viewer also becomes the commodity being sold to advertisers.

SoddingUnicorns · 10/07/2018 10:23

Porn isn’t free, someone has paid for it somewhere.

Vashna · 10/07/2018 10:24

Jacques, yes I agree and I’ve had this conversation with DH, that even if to all intents and purposes a particular woman has chosen to do a particular job, what are the circumstances that led her to that point in the first place? We have most definitely had this conversation about the hypocrisy and mental dissonance going on.

Vashna · 10/07/2018 10:39

The statement from DH that I found most staggering was when he said, “Well porn is a multi billion dollar industry these days - a bit like Disney.” ConfusedAngry And this is from a man who is generally on the moral high ground about all other issues. Fgs, porn is many things, but Mickey Mouse it is not.

mummamarnis · 10/07/2018 10:40

I think most men are greatful to get some foof! Either shaved or bushy. I can't imagine many men saying mid way can you shave your foof right now please! I do think the hollywood bald look is a sign of the times but women should do what they are comfortable with not for the sake of men. It reminds me of Wolf of Wall street when Jorden's dad was surprised that women are completely shaved now! It shows the different generation perspectives. Porn is a influence as if it wasnt designer vagina surgery wouldnt be as popular as it is now with women who haven't given birth and are not doing it for medical reasons but for the aesthetics. Same with breast enlargement the fashion in the 90s was big boobs encouraged by ladmags that seems to be dying now and even if women have boob jobs they are not as big.

Some women have always shaved I get that but if you just look at the amount hair removal products for intimate areas available today than say 20 years ago its clearly a trend to be hairless down there. Also the increased rates of BV and thrush probably has something to do with being bald down there too. Same with men getting back sack and crack waxes I bet in the 70s men didnt even consider it but now again because of porn and trends men are using more methods of hair removal than ever before.

UneViedAmour · 10/07/2018 10:40

Of course hairless is sexier, you don’t get pubic hair in your mouth during oral, the enhanced sensation of bare skin, dog can see the rabbit (and men are visual creatures). Aside from that, now that I have been hairless, never in a million years would I go back to a full bush. You feel so much cleaner, less sweaty down there, don’t get vaginal discharge/ urine etc trapped in the wiry hair. Unless you use a bidet after every bathroom visit, it does make a difference with no hair down there.

And this applies not exclusively to women, either. My OH cottoned on to the benefits of smooth and he now says himself how much fresher he feels throughout the day, patches of eczema he had in the pubic area have cleared up as the sweat etc don’t linger on the skin.

Why do you think in hotter climes women have removed hair in the pubic area for millennia? Health and hygiene was one of the main reasons, not some porn/fashion. Very enduring fashion, that.

Other women can do what the hell they like down there, but there is no question for me and OH, smooth all the way. I have decided that to finally laser it off to save the faff. It’s not as if I’m ever going to grow it back.

SoddingUnicorns · 10/07/2018 10:42

dog can see the rabbit

Ugh. There really wasn’t a better way you could have phrased that?

JacquesHammer · 10/07/2018 10:50

Every time you wrote “you” in that post, you meant “I”.

I’m hairless (not through choice, although I prefer it for ME and don’t assume other women will feel the same!)

QueenoftheNights · 10/07/2018 10:52

Oh no judgement here then Hmm
So women with no pubes have sexier sex? Bollocks.

Have you asked your partner if they mind a bit of hair ?

Considering what does go in our mouths during oral sex, the odd stray hair is meaningless. If you feel your partner is put off by hair, you need to reassess your ideas about sex. Sex is wet, noisy, smelly ...and it usually involves a bit of hair.
Of course bristles may be sexier. (because even the slightest regrowth feels like a man's beard. Even with waxing.)

Men who wax look ridiculous imo. DP would no more entertain a wax than stick pins in his eyes. I happen to like lush, profuse pubic hair on men.

Why do you think in hotter climes women have removed hair in the pubic area for millennia?

Why do you think in hotter climes women have removed hair in the pubic area for millennia?

Errr. where is your proof?

If this is the middle east maybe it's got more to do with the way women are treated, by men, not hygiene.

mummamarnis · 10/07/2018 11:02

Funny this idea that hairless is cleaner!! This is what I hate!
Ask a GP that see patients with ingrown hair pus cysts recurrent BV cases are advised to grow hair. Many women get thrush from hair removal. If they think hairless is cleaner its a myth. It's actually easier to pass on infections if your hairless such as herpes and you can still get lice if your hairless. We have hair for protection otherwise we wouldnt develop any at maturity. If you dont wash a hairless vag or a hairy one it will still smell piss off with this only a hairless vag is a clean vag comments.

Joey7t8 · 10/07/2018 11:23

On the basis that the hair shouldn’t be removed as nature put it there for a reason, does that mean that all men should grow beards?

JacquesHammer · 10/07/2018 11:26

Given the hair on a man's face doesn't have protective qualities I don't think the two are comparable, do you? Confused

QueenoftheNights · 10/07/2018 11:30

@UneViedAmour am surprised you manage to have sex at all. You appear to be so squeamish about natural bodily functions, odours and hair.

Your skin sweats whether you have hair on it or not. Vaginal secretions are normal, good and healthy. Washing before sex is just good manners and considerate and if you can't access a bath or shower, a bottle of water used sitting on the loo is quite effective to freshen up.

This idea that women with normal pubic hair have sticky secretions ruining their lives, smell and have little sensation during sex is offensive and the sooner you lot shut up about it the better!
