Well, it is now 11:14 and I have very rudely not updated you all!!

It's quite fun I must say.

So, by some twist of fate 'someone' let the air out of one of DH's tires last night. Was full and plump last night, this morning it looked like it had melted. Funny coincidence.
However DH had parked up just behind me, any further back and he would have been encroaching on our other neighbours drive.
So 10:05 rolls around and there is a knock on the door- just the menfolk this time, asking me to shift my car.

Well unfortunatley I am not able to due to the flat tire DH has and I am now blocked in too. Darn. I explain to the menfolk what's happened and instantly I can tell by their faces it was them (or one of the others) who let the tire down. I've explained that someone is coming out to replace the tire later than day and slipped in the conversation that we have motion sensor dash cams in both cars so will of course be turned over the footage to the police.

I'll be honest with you, I could have gotten my car out at this point, but it would have been a lot of shimmying back and forth and I actually couldnt really be bothered with all that.

One of the men tells me that this has gotten well out of hand and if he offers to sort the tire out now, can we please shift and he assures me that they will never park on our property again.

I said absolutely (I don't want to appear unreasonable!), However I must insist on an apology from the driver who felt the need to park on my drive way and the driver who blocked them in.

You'll be pleased to know that have now received apologies from two very sheepish looking women (along with a lengthy explanation as to why they parked there) and DH has a lovely new bouncy tire.

Before leaving one of the menfolk asking if we could please delete the footage from the dash cam. He thinks the culprit was just having a bad day and made a bad decision. Bless.

I agree, keep the dashcam footage just in case. You only need one person from that group to continue to have a grudge against you for things to get unpleasant.

justilou1 · 16/06/2018 11:43

OH WOW! You are the best parking CF reporters ever!!! Thanks for getting back to us!!!

HyacinthsBucket70 · 16/06/2018 11:43

I've read both threads and I'm still Shock that anyone would just park on someone elses drive......... just how do you become that entitled!!!

OP I have to say that I think you've dealt with this brilliantly.

You need to go on The Apprentice for your technique in problem solving Grin.

Jimmers · 16/06/2018 11:43

The way you dealt with this is an utter thing of beauty, @Sharron Grin

Cuttingthegrass · 16/06/2018 11:43

Oh my word. How you kept your dignity and politeness I have no idea.

What a brainless pollock and to think they were probably laughing about last night. And these people walk among us and are raising the next generation Shock

We are doomed I tell thee

Sayhellotothesun · 16/06/2018 11:44

I'd be interested to watch it and find out exactly which arsehole let it down though!

walnutwood · 16/06/2018 11:44

Why would THEY have let the tyre down though? Confused

IggyAce · 16/06/2018 11:45

Fantastic update. Definitely post on local fb page and the schools because I'm sure another parent will try and use your drive. I would also install a penguin bollard.

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 16/06/2018 11:45

What was their explanation?

LondonGin · 16/06/2018 11:46

Can someone link to the first thread have tried searching but can’t find !

DesertIslandPenguin · 16/06/2018 11:46

This is a very satisfying conclusion to the saga! I suspect word will get round and no one will be parking near your house again.

PestoSurfissimos · 16/06/2018 11:47

DanielCraigsUnderpants · 16/06/2018 11:51

This has brought so much joy to so many.

Missingstreetlife · 16/06/2018 11:51

London you missed a treat. Can't link, someone more clever will do I'm sure, but it's in active Aibu and last 24 hrs. You may search ops name or my very first parking thread. Make coffee beforehand!

SharronNeedles · 16/06/2018 11:51

Their reasons were that their kids go to the local school and they live on a different street which is across a main road so it isn't safe to walk there and back every day. The school is very close to my house and the cars do line the road directly outside, I live in a street coming off this road IYKWIM. Apparently there are always loads of cars and parking is a nightmare, my drive way has been empty for months at drop off and pick up time so they never saw an issue with it. They've never blocked anyone in or done any damage. It was all done for the safety of their children.
