Well, it’s happened... the trans activists have waded into the 8th amendment issue in Ireland

And are apparently pushing for the language in the repeal legislation to be “gender neutral”.

Quote from the article-

“Despite what some may believe, men can become pregnant too. There are tens of thousands of transgender men and non-binary people in Ireland who can conceive, and when speaking about reproductive healthcare, we must always be mindful of that.

“It’s imperative that newly written legislation uses inclusive language. By including this, trans men and non binary people will not hit legal barriers should they need to receive an abortion. By using the term pregnant people in new legislation, as well as protecting women, we are also protecting and respecting all gender identities should a crisis pregnancy occur.”

So. That’s nice. Thousands upon thousands of women have suffered, many have died, because of bullshit like the 8th amendment. And after fighting so hard for so fucking long and finally winning the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive rights, if the TAs get their way, we get to be referred to as pregnant people

I’m a bit of a TERF at the best of times but this is beyond fucking insulting. Savita Halappanavar wasn’t a pregnant person. Michelle Harte wasn’t a pregnant person. Sheila Hodges wasn’t a pregnant person.

If the TDs capitulate and let this happen I will be really pissed off.

Isn't it what feminism is about? Equal rights and opportunities?

Now there you got me. Up until about 3 months ago I would probably still be agreeing with that.

But now tha TRA agenda has bitten me out here int he real world, in my business, I am self employed. And now I have changed my mind and my 1980s egalitarian fem self has decided that feminism these days MUST be about protecting women and girls from the new, more invidious, patriarchy. That words can be mroe dangerous than the sword, that Orwellian Doubel Think is a real and present danger to all women and that Margaret Atwood was right about Gilead!

I have NEVER been so scared by the meek acqiesence of so many women I though were sane and sensible. Preferred pronouns? Watch your misgendering? Bollocks to the lot of it!

birdbandit · 02/06/2018 12:18

FFS, for anyone who thinks that all trans women are a homogenous blob of pink nice, ask one of their wives.

Full time Fetish life lived. I wouldn't want my STBXH anywhere near a woman's shelter, because I am proof positive that he has a sodding arousal response to hating women whilst performing what he thinks are their upgrade.

Honestly, can you handmaidens/activists explain to yourselves why it is that my experience of all this is invalid, and not as worthy of your charitable brain as his?

Waddlelikeapenguin · 02/06/2018 12:23

pachyderm GinStar loving your posts on this thread.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/06/2018 12:24

birdbandit
It sounds as though you have gone through hell. Flowers

TerfsUp · 02/06/2018 12:28

I am sure that @strongmummy will have a thought-out response to your question, birdbandit.

pachyderm · 02/06/2018 12:31

Thanks @Waddlelikeapenguin and others for your kind words.

I'd also like to point out re the original post that it's actually been going on for some time - they just suspended hostilities during the campaign of the last few months once the referendum was called, but they were centring themselves in the movement for a couple of years before, and ensuring that dissenters were booted out and marginalised. People like to think that Twitter isn't the real world and it isn't representative of most people's views but unfortunately, it's where a lot of ideological and political power-grabs take place these days.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/06/2018 12:34

pachyderm
Yup agreed. We only have to look at the excuses given over the past couple of days for why more women aren’t in the boardroom to see that the hatred of women and desire to keep them under is still very much alive.

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:35

This is it. Anyone who did

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:36

Anyone who dismisses the reach and power of social media like Twitter is dangerously naive.

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:38

Going to repeat my post again so it's legible. My phone has been hacked by TRAs Grin

Strongmummy · 02/06/2018 12:39

No response other than sorry you married such a cunt.

TerfsUp · 02/06/2018 12:40

You wanted a personal example. You got it along with all the other bits of evidence.

Do you want to admit that you were wrong?

LiteraryDevil1 · 02/06/2018 12:41

Is it me or is this just another way for men and the patriarchy to continue to minimise women? Is it so indoctrinated into men that even men who claim to be women are still minimising the needs and rights of women?!

TerfsUp · 02/06/2018 12:42

It's the latter, LiteraryDevil1. Ably assisted by handmaidens and the woke brigade.

Strongmummy · 02/06/2018 12:43

@Terfs, the example you linked to is a man “claiming to be” trans FFS !!!

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:43

No it's not just you. In a misogynistic world, it's not surprising that some women take the path of least resistance.

JacquesHammer · 02/06/2018 12:43

@Strongmummy

No response

Well there’s a surprise.

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:44

And that this is clear as day a male dominated, male supremacy movement driven by male entitlement.

RoseWhiteTips · 02/06/2018 12:45

Waded in wearing hobnailed boots. Sounds typical. It is not always about them. 🙄

Strongmummy · 02/06/2018 12:49

And by your definition a trans Male who is attracted to women and has a dick could work in a women’s shelter because they’re still female. Is that ok? You make no
Sense!!!!

daisychain01 · 02/06/2018 13:03

If you think 2 men having sex can create a pregnancy, you really shouldn;t be commenting on what other people can't get their heads around. You might want to get a biology book around yours, and give yourself a slap with it

This is it, Miggeldy the word delusional keeps recurring like Groundhog Day, it's the denial of reality, the twisting of words, the deliberate attempts to contrive and conflate. My DN10 knows how babies are created ffs.

And my upthread point was the strawman whatifery of a woman who on the one hand says they want to be a man, but still dtd and gets pg. cake and eat it, anyone? It's quite frankly aaaaall fucked up. But we're meant to take this stuff seriously?

Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 13:12

And by your definition a trans Male who is attracted to women and has a dick could work in a women’s shelter because they’re still female. Is that ok?

A vanishingly tiny proportion of them have anything approximating "a dick". Because it isn't possible to make an actual penis. And yes, they are female. I would hope if they had the volatile psychological instability that so often goes hand in hand with gender dysphoria this would be taken into account to safeguard vulnerable women. But in theory, yes.

Snugglepumpkin · 02/06/2018 15:25

This is madness.
A female (at birth) who tells people they are a male has working female body parts & becomes pregnant by having sex as the female half of that act.
So, they have sex as if they are a female, were born a female & have retained all working female organs, but we have to rewrite laws that are important to half the worlds population so they don't get their feelings hurt if people mention they are female when they want to dispose of the child?

It is a medical procedure that can only be carried out on female anatomy.

Talk about wanting to have your cake & eat it.

I am so far past peak trans I need a new word.

Flooffloof · 02/06/2018 16:05

I have just skim read everything I could find about the original protection of life act, it mentions women/woman/girl/mother
It does not mention men. It does mention people but as in helping the mother to get or carry out an abortion.
So my reading of it (I am not legally qualified ) men are and were never barred from getting an abortion.
If a legal bod could verify?
then all this is academic.

Caribou58 · 02/06/2018 17:01

Give me ONE example where young girls or women have been abused by a trans person. One example. You can’t

I'm late to this thread, but saw this article only today:
