Thrilling subject I know!

Henry has given up the ghost and I don’t want another one. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than £200 but if i’m Told I can’t get anything fab for that price then I could go to £400 at a push. I will see it as an investment Grin We will be living in a 3 bed, mostly carpeted with one set of stairs. No pets.

No need to spend £200 - get a Henry. (Or two - one upstairs, one downstairs!).

LanguidLobster · 30/05/2018 13:58

I was going to say Henry Blush

Good luck with it, let us know what you get!

DailyMailClickbait · 30/05/2018 14:28

I love my Henry. I have thrown him down the stairs more times than I can remember; he doesn't have a scratch on him and still works perfectly.

It's not fancy, but it does the job. I have a cordless Dyson (V6 Animal) which is great when it works. But it spends a lot of time not working and having to be coaxed back into existence. I have never had such a temperamental vacuum before! The only reason I stick with it is because it cost me almost £300 and I'm too bloody tight not to use it to death before replacing it Grin.

My next cordless will be a Shark. My next corded will be a Sebo.

MorningCuppa · 30/05/2018 14:32

Get a shark brilliant and I've had a Henry and many dysons, shark much better.

Nanny0gg · 30/05/2018 14:32

Push the boat out.

Sebo. They're wonderful.

Butterflykissess · 30/05/2018 14:40

Henry Hoover's are awful can't believe people recommend them so much. I have one and the suction is practically non existent. I dream of a Dyson but can't afford one.

llangennith · 30/05/2018 14:50

Dyson and Miele seem to be the most popular. Haven’t tried the Miele but had various Dysons since they first came out and love them.

jamoncrumpets · 30/05/2018 14:50

Get a Hetty instead Grin

Littlecaf · 30/05/2018 14:52

We have the basic Miele - it’s the best one I’ve ever owned!

I got a Miele bagless vacuum cleaner - which is good.

Emma93X · 30/05/2018 14:56

Vax air solo cordless hoover,

Amazing ! So light to carry round the house and cordless, has a light on the front so you can see in the dark spots near skirting boards etc.

Way better than a dyson! Smile

Queenofscarves1 · 30/05/2018 14:56

Miele is amazing! You can adjust the strength if the suction. On the strongest it lifts my heavy rug off the floor! Does a damn good job! Better than dyson i would say!

PrettyLovely · 30/05/2018 14:57

I had a dyson cordless it was useless the suction was dreadfull I was better off sweeping up, Henry all the way, never known a hoover with such good suction.

Throwaway4misc · 30/05/2018 14:58

I've just bought the cordless Dyson v7 and I love it. Paid £250 direct from Dyson so it has 2 years guarantee.
I let my mum borrow it and she's now bought the next one up

Twerking9to5 · 30/05/2018 14:58

Another vote for Miele-we have the cat and dog version despite not actually having any pets. The turbo head designed for the pet hair is a dream at collecting up my shedding locks!!

Another vote for the Miele here, I've had a Henry, several dysons and a Miele. Miele wins by a mile, the suction is amazing!

butlerswharf · 30/05/2018 15:12

I love my Dyson cordless

CAAKE · 30/05/2018 15:14

Henrys are great. There's a reason you always see them in hotels and office buildings, because they're sturdy and reliable.

SluttyButty · 30/05/2018 15:15

I took possession of my new Dyson V10 yesterday... I thought the V6 was good but this baby will be sleeping next to me in bed to keep her safe. She's that bloody good I'm horrified at what came out of the seven month old carpet!

FawnDrench · 30/05/2018 15:15

Shark is the best one I've had in over 40 years.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 30/05/2018 15:16

I have had dysons and miele but nothing is as good as Henry in my opinion. My henry almost pulls the carpet up the suction is so good.

MismatchedStripySocks · 30/05/2018 15:18

Thanks. Some new ideas there, never heard of a Shark or Sebo.

another for dyson v7 cordless, with the powered brush.

had an old heavy dyson for years, and we hated dragging it round (and bashing up all the skirting boards and radiator feed pipes).

but this is much better. reckon we hoover 2 or 3 times more often now.

only takes about 20 minutes to charge, and even on the minimum setting, it picks up most of the debris from a family of 5 (and the hay falling out of the guinea pig cage)!
