Thrilling subject I know!

Henry has given up the ghost and I don’t want another one. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than £200 but if i’m Told I can’t get anything fab for that price then I could go to £400 at a push. I will see it as an investment Grin We will be living in a 3 bed, mostly carpeted with one set of stairs. No pets.

Sebo. Wouldn't buy Dyson out of principle. Grin

PrettyLovely · 30/05/2018 19:09

"Those complaining about cordless Dyson's. It's not just the filter that needs cleaning, you also need to take the floor head apart and unwind/remove any hair that's got tangled up around the edges. If you don't do this then the bar doesn't spin and the motor does overheat. "
I know and its a really grim job, I dont have to do that on my henry as it doesnt have a roller and has a big enough hole and the suction is amazing, The dyson does need cleaning out alot unfortunately in order to make it work for 10 minutes, Not worth the hassle for me.

MrsOprah · 30/05/2018 19:25

£50 (lasts two years before needing replacing, but i hoover twice daily, in the living room and kitchen. then motor or something goes kaput) but suction is SO good. Hoover brand & vax brand cyclinder vacuums in b&m or homebargins

londonrach · 30/05/2018 19:28

@slutty. ...every single part of my useless vacuum has been taken apart, cleaned and dried. I think ive pretty much read every dyson help advice ever. Dyson has repaired and replaced it...etc.... its just a faulty design.... im vvv happy to photo latest one to show you.

Nanny0gg · 30/05/2018 19:29

The Sebo is a bagged vacuum but it is the easiest to change ever and dust doesn't fly everywhere (and the bagless ones look awful from the first time they're used)

And everything else comes apart really easily if hair gets stuck round the rollers.

Excellent suction and has animal versions too.

Brilliant German engineering.

londonrach · 30/05/2018 19:30

I just wish mil not bought us one and i can use the money towards a machine thats works. As said before we one week into new one..... give it time... (looks enviously at henrys, sharks everything not dyson)

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 30/05/2018 19:35

Shark rocket
We have the pet one and it’s really good, puts the old dyson upright and handheld we previously had to shame

TSSDNCOP · 30/05/2018 19:36

Dyson v8 cordless.

Best.gadget.ever

Plus it’s so light the kids love to drive it.

Etino · 30/05/2018 19:40

I was an early shark adopter and recommender and feel inappropriately proud when I see you all raving about it. It’s great.

twotallgiraffes · 30/05/2018 19:43

Don't buy a vax air. Absolutely shite. I did have a dyson for years but couldn't afford a new one so stupidly bought a vax. Now I need to think about buying another new hoover as the vax is just utter crap.

Firecarrier · 30/05/2018 19:44

Haven't read thread..

Shark liftaway, one of the few things I would recommend!

happystrummer · 30/05/2018 19:45

Surprised no one has mentioned the G Tech...i;ve got the cordless upright and handheld . Both are fab

GrannyHeadology · 30/05/2018 19:46

Another vote for the Shark, suction is excellent, lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. Really easy to empty and clean

GrannyHeadology · 30/05/2018 19:48

I’ve had several Dysons, couple of Vax and a Henry. None come close to my Shark lift away

Avebury · 30/05/2018 19:48

I've got a corded shark and a cordless Dyson. Shark definitely best for a deep clean but the Dyson is great for a quick going over.

Viola82 · 30/05/2018 19:48

Anyone had Bosch?

Pimmsypimms · 30/05/2018 19:51

Agree with the Miele, we had the basic model too and it’s by far the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned!

opinionatedfreak · 30/05/2018 20:05

Miele. I currently have the basic model which is totally fine.

My cat & dog has been kidnapped by my Dad - he looked after it for a while when I lived abroad, the cleaner started using it and now he won't give it back! It is 17years old and still works perfectly...

RomeoBunny · 30/05/2018 20:13

Shark are CRAP do not get one. I don't care what anyone says, they do not compare or beat dysons in any way at all.

Oh and dont get a dyson either... the new ones are cheap shit for the sane extortionate price. I have an 11yr old Animal Ball and its the best thing ever but it's retired now mostly as it's so heavy. The new ones are terrible.

persypear · 30/05/2018 20:26

I have a Bosch now. The super quiet version bought refurbed off ebay as sadly they dont make the really quiet ones anymore. Meant it was £70 rather than £300 though.

It is really great and so, so quiet. Can use it even when watching TV or sleeping. It is a pull along but the wieght off it means that it stays put and doesn't lurch around banging into things like as I found with lighter ones like Henrys. The only disadvantage is the messy emptying - don';t do it indoors! But I can happilty live iwth it for being so quiet and well made.

I'm reading this with interest as I also need a lightweight handheld vacuum, maybe cordless, and want to see what people suggest :)

deste · 30/05/2018 20:40

Miele cat and dog, I have two and bought DD one as well. She adores it.

Grammarist · 30/05/2018 21:46

Miele cat and Dog.
Amazing vacuum cleaner.

Had others in the past (including Dysons and Henry) but the Miele is far far better.

gobbin · 30/05/2018 21:53

Shark Liftaway. Was hoovering when my friend came round yesterday and she was really impressed and wanted to know what make it was.

ALadyofLetters · 30/05/2018 22:02

We’ve just got a Shark liftaway after 7 years of a Dyson- which incidentally broke down a lot. I had to empty the dust thing twice during the first vacuum with the Shark. The crap that came out of the carpets was astonishing!

Norugratsatall · 30/05/2018 22:06

Oreck. Had one 20 years, would never have anything else.
