Thrilling subject I know!

Henry has given up the ghost and I don’t want another one. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than £200 but if i’m Told I can’t get anything fab for that price then I could go to £400 at a push. I will see it as an investment Grin We will be living in a 3 bed, mostly carpeted with one set of stairs. No pets.

I bought a shark last year and my g tech and stain went straight on eBay, it’s bloomin brilliant

2kidsnopets · 30/05/2018 22:30

I'm intrigued to know which dyson people have that's so awful. I've got a V8 cordless and used it 3-4 times a day for 18 months with no issues ( I have to vacuum after every toddler meal or snack).
I also have a corded dc06 (I think) Animal one that's 12 years old and still going strong.

2kidsnopets · 30/05/2018 22:37

Also, does anyone recommending the shark have a cordless one?

Namechange128 · 30/05/2018 22:39

My Miele one was recommended by Which, was the most basic model (with a bag! Old school! £99 new!) and is going strong after 2 years and a.major renovation with industrial quantities of dust. I am never going back to Dyson again...

justilou1 · 30/05/2018 22:41

I had a Dyson for years - also found it to be temperamental. Not worth the hassle. My Shark leaves it for dead. I can’t believe the difference. I’m never going back.

jmh740 · 30/05/2018 22:54

I love my shark lift away but think you need two batteries (I've only got 1 but it's a pain when it dies half way through hoovering and you need to wait for it to charge) I've got wooden floors downstairs carpets upstairs it's great on both have 2 hairy cats 2 messy kids as well as oh and it copes well with all the mess we all leave behind.

Medrad · 30/05/2018 22:56

Went from Henry to Dyson Animal to Shark corded lift away. Shark wins hands down 🦈

PickAChew · 30/05/2018 23:05

Love my sebo.

Tolerate my Dyson cordless. Normally only use it for spot cleaning and even then it's useless at crumbs and needs a dustpan and brush to be used first.

Ancient, exclusive to Comet, Dyson ball is kept in reserve for plaster dust and the like. It sounds like an angry wasp and is about as pointless.

Another vote for Shark. No comparison to my crappy old Dyson.

Crumblevision · 30/05/2018 23:08

I have the Shark corded liftaway

PurpleTigerLove · 30/05/2018 23:10

I have a Henry . My mum has a shark and likes it as it’s easier for her to use .

MixedButtons · 30/05/2018 23:25

Another for the Shark, I love mine, Im a cleaner and its light weight and so easy with the liftaway! I couldn't believe the crap that it lifted out of my carpets and fluffy rug!

FindoGask · 31/05/2018 05:00

Same! We got our cordless V7 because it was a Which Best Buy (for cordless vacuums) and it's been fantastic. Genuinely revolutionary after fighting with my Henry for years!

Naynayba · 31/05/2018 05:24

Wouldnt recommend cordless dyson here! I used mine a handful of times and then it started getting temperamental so i reverted to the ancient piece-of-shit upright corded vacuum i inherited from my grandad 9yrs ago which has been completed abused but STILL did a better job!?

MismatchedStripySocks · 31/05/2018 13:51

Ok....the results are in!!!

I have just purchased a......

Shark Liftaway Up right vacuum Tru-Pet. This is following all the great advise on here. It was only £189.99 on Very, coming tomorrow.

I might have to take the day off work to hoover Grin

Let us know what you think of it.

lljkk · 31/05/2018 19:30

My noisy Dyson is a DC07. 3x louder than it needs to be, 6x louder than the DC03 it replaced but not better (maybe worse) at cleaning. Would like to hear how OP gets on with her shark.

TheNoodlesIncident · 31/05/2018 20:09

I was going to say Shark Liftaway Grin We got ours after positive comments on here, we LOVE it. Did the living room carpet with it after it had been done already by the Bosch Athlet and the tank was FILLED with crud the Athlet had missed.

Hope you're happy with it OP

yy558 · 31/05/2018 20:27

Shark trupet. It's lightweight. I got the cheaper one (think there is one at £200 price range and one at £150). Good attachments, easy to manoeuvre.

I like the Dyson but the price is just...my neighbour swears by it though.

Used to have a Miele which was great on hard floors but have some carpets now and it wasn't good enough.

MismatchedStripySocks · 31/05/2018 23:25

Ooh i’m So excited Grin And I got a new job today, could today get any better?!! New vacuum and new job. Living the dream.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 31/05/2018 23:34

Love, love, love my GTech AirRam - super lightweight and easy to steer around/under things , charge lasts for ages (I say this as someone who fell down the stairs while wrangling a heavy Vax). I think once you've gone cordless you'll never go back!

agedknees · 01/06/2018 00:02

I love, love, love my shark lift away (corded). Best vacuum I have ever had. Enjoy.

stayathomer · 01/06/2018 00:09

A second vote for Hettie as opposed to Henry;) Saying that we had a Philips before that thst was our cheapest one but lasted about ten years! Funny people are so divided on a Dyson, sore adore it, some are bitter they bothered to spend their money on it!

stayathomer · 01/06/2018 00:10

Oh and had a Miele that was terrible before, DM says the same, can't inder that theyre so famous!
