Thrilling subject I know!

Henry has given up the ghost and I don’t want another one. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than £200 but if i’m Told I can’t get anything fab for that price then I could go to £400 at a push. I will see it as an investment Grin We will be living in a 3 bed, mostly carpeted with one set of stairs. No pets.

Oh, deffo go for a Shark. So powerful, and really easy to clean-the whole thing practically dismantles when you need it to! Love mine and would never change brands.

mando12345 · 30/05/2018 15:22

I've had a sebo in the past but now have a miele cat and dog, it is so much better than the sebo, I'd highly recommend.
Don't understand the love for the Henry, we used to have one at work, it was useless took hours to vacuum. Also I have used them in holiday cottages and no better! That's my real bug bear as we have a dog and I try to get rid of the worst of her hair when we leave and it takes forever!

Buteo · 30/05/2018 15:23

Replaced a Dyson with a Miele several years ago - the Miele really showed up how useless the Dyson was. Think I got a 10 year guarantee with the Miele too.

Omgineedanamechange · 30/05/2018 15:25

Another vote for shark

Loonoon · 30/05/2018 15:27

I love my Miele. I also like shark. Dyson are way overpriced. But best of all I love my little Eufy robovac that pootles about in its own and always does a thorough job on the edges.

Gilead · 30/05/2018 15:28

I've had a dyson but it couldn't beat my miele. Would not go back.

IHeartMarmiteToast · 30/05/2018 15:29

I'd never heard about the Shark until I read about it on here. We got the liftaway one and its AMAZING! my hub (who to be fair does 90% of the hoovering) can plug it in and go right up the stairs with the liftaway bit and could probably do another flight of stairs too (we dont have one but WE COULD) its so light to use it nearly takes you for a walk. BRILLIANT

FullMetalRabbit · 30/05/2018 15:32

Sebo - had mine years

PuppetOnAString · 30/05/2018 15:36

I love our Miele.

TillyTheTiger · 30/05/2018 15:37

I love love LOVE my shark. I used to hate vacuuming, now I don't mind it in the slightest.

FindoGask · 30/05/2018 15:38

I had a Henry for years and began to absolutely hate it. Kept getting stuck round corners and falling over all the time.

We have a Dyson cordless now, the Pet version, and it's awesome - so light. It felt at first like the suction wasn't as powerful as the Henry (which I just used to have on Max all the time) but because of the motorised head it seems to suck much more up - certainly all the hair that our two cats and one dog shed.

Pseudousername · 30/05/2018 15:39

We actuslly got rid of our cleaners because the Dyson V8 cordless is so good!

Ohmylord59789234 · 30/05/2018 15:41

Don’t get another Henry, why would you? GET A HETTY!
She’s far superior, she’s a woman and she’s pink, what’s not to like
Ps love my hetty

ChipInTheSugar · 30/05/2018 15:43

I wanted a Miele car&dog but too much money, so I got a Shark, and love it.

ChipInTheSugar · 30/05/2018 15:44

*CAT & dog - I don't think Miele do cars .... Grin

Pancakeflipper · 30/05/2018 15:44

Sebo or Meile.

Never a Dyson - wonder if it's the mass production/cheaper parts that have made them less ace?
I get tangled up with a Henry.

MissConductUS · 30/05/2018 15:46

Buy the cheapest Miele canister vac you can find. They're all amazing.

beeswax2014 · 30/05/2018 15:46

Another Miele vote from me. So powerful, it has pulled up my Lino in the kitchen! Oops!

NancyBlackettsRedCap · 30/05/2018 15:51

My Dyson cordless was blocking all the time so spring for a Shark. Amazing. It's pulled industrial shed-loads of dog fur from every carpet where the Dyson had assured me all was clean.

Oh, and it has headlights. I rest my case.

HushabyeMountainGoat · 30/05/2018 15:53

Cordless Dyson. I couldn't go back to a corded one now. People will tell you that the battery doesn't last long; it doesn't. Maybe 8mins or so on turbo. But it's so quick and easy that i hoover most days now while DH is doing bathtime with DS- downstairs one day and upstairs the next. I don't need longer than 8mins.

SluttyButty · 30/05/2018 15:54

All those saying no to a Dyson, I'd invite you all to mine to try the newest model I mentioned above. It is amazing and far better than my parents Miele that I tried before making a decision.

SomeKnobend · 30/05/2018 16:01

I got a ridiculously expensive (nearly £400) dyson cordless which I was really pleased with for several months. Now it overheats, shuts off after 10 minutes, stops working when it gets hairs or anything cauht in the rotating cylinder bit at the bottom (designed to pick up the bloody hair!) and is generally a bit shit as an only hoover for a family house. I wish I'd got a shark as everyone says how great they are and they're about half the price.

Popfan · 30/05/2018 16:06

Another vote for the miele cat and dog. It's brilliant - just got our 2nd - our first lasted years and years!

PrettyLovely · 30/05/2018 17:22

Mine also did that, They are really poorly designed I would never buy a dyson again.

It's exactly what mine does. And emptying the dust bucket is disgusting because all the dirt gets clogged up by the filter - so you need to get a knife and prise it out. Really shit design and totally fucking annoying. I'd never have another Dyson.
