This is so Random but I really want to know! Do you wear underwear to bed?
As a kid I was told by my stepmom to let it all breath, and be free from underwear.
By my mum I was told to wear underwear.. her view was simply if something happens in the night, you’re wearing underwear.(fire)
I seem to wash and put on clean underwear (briefs) nothing uncomfortable. Is it unhygienic to wear underwear to bed? I have on occasions not wore any but it’s such a habit now. I don’t wear my bra to bed. My mate thinks I’m bonkers wearing underwear to bed. Is it important to let our lady bits breath?

I wear knickers in bed.

I doubt my bits could breathe under my heavy quilt anyway!

thinking3333 · 26/05/2018 14:41

I don't. I find it uncomfortable to wear undies and I think it's good to let everything breathe.

OliviaStabler · 26/05/2018 14:41

I don't wear underwear to bed. I can't see the point.

I have pajamas on so why would I need anything else?

awomensworkisneverdone · 26/05/2018 14:43

It’s good point to let Breath I think. As we spend all day in underwear I suppose Confused

I don't wear undies to bed, I let it all breathe. I think it's more comfortable not wearing them aswell

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 26/05/2018 14:46

I wear underwear to bed but nothing else. I tend to get too hot so don't like to wear pyjamas. But I'm also up in the night with dc2 and sometimes dc1 so it's nice to have something on! I also need to sleep in a bra so I have something to tuck my breastpads into and also because I'm more comfy in a bra (32FF).

AlwaysPondering · 26/05/2018 14:49

If I have nothing on my bottom half I wear comfy underwear. I just prefer to. I've not encountered any problems from not letting my bits breathe.

Fluffyears · 26/05/2018 17:47

I always wear pants, just how I was brought up. If you have your period surely you need pants on as you aren’t meant to use a tampon overnight.

FASH84 · 26/05/2018 17:56

I only wear pants for bed when I'm on my period in case of leaks etc. When I changed pills a couple of years ago I had a very persistent episode of thrush, GP said it's a bad idea to wear underwear over night generally, as it encourages moisture and warmth which yeast and bacteria love, sorry TMI!

Topseyt · 26/05/2018 17:57

Of course you can use a tampon overnight. I have to use super plus ones, along with a super plus sanitary towel or I would flood the bed.

I sometimes wear underwear to bed. I don't buy this letting it all breathe bollocks. If I want to wear undies I just do. Never a problem.

SilverySurfer · 26/05/2018 18:00

I wear nothing in bed - maybe a t shirt if it's chilly but definitely not underwear. Why would you?

LoniceraJaponica · 26/05/2018 18:03

"Do you wear underwear to bed?"

No.Why would I? I don't want thrush, and I don't have big boobs.

MrsHappyAndMrCool · 26/05/2018 18:05

I just wear a long t-shirt to bed and nothing else, I think in bed is the time we should allow our parts to breathe 🤓

itallhappensforareason · 26/05/2018 18:05

I only wear knickers if I wear a nightie to bed as I like to feel like I'm "tucked away" if you like. If I'm wearing pyjama bottoms then no underwear.

ScaredPAD · 26/05/2018 18:07

I thought everyone wore pants to bed pre mumsnet. To me it's more hygienic and saves washing pjs every night .

rslsys · 26/05/2018 18:09

Too early in the thread for poo crumbs?

LoniceraJaponica · 26/05/2018 18:10

"I thought everyone wore pants to bed pre mumsnet"

And I thought no-one did pre mumsnet.

Butterflykissess · 26/05/2018 18:11

I didn't wear underwear in bed but when I was with my ex he translated that as me always "wanting it" so I had to start. I m Back to not wearing any now.

Jammycustard · 26/05/2018 18:11

Always wear pants under my PJs. Have never had thrush.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 26/05/2018 18:12

It's 'breathe' OP

hildabaker · 26/05/2018 18:13

LOL @butterflykisses, same here.

reallybadidea · 26/05/2018 18:14

I don't really see how your nether regions 'breathe' more without underwear? There's not much air circulating under your pyjamas and a duvet regardless of wearing knickers or not. I always wear knickers to bed and I've only ever had thrush once, when I was pregnant. I reckon it's one of those things which doesn't really have any evidence, but it's been repeated so often that it's become accepted as truth.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2018 18:14

It doesn't matter what everyone else wears in bed, just do what makes you feel comfortable.

Jengnr · 26/05/2018 18:16

I usually wear knickers. Mainly because I don’t take off the ones I’ve had on in the daytime. Why would my fanny need to ‘breathe’

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 26/05/2018 18:18

There was a thread almost exactly the same as this a few months ago...
