To wear underwear to bed?

This is so Random but I really want to know! Do you wear underwear to bed?
As a kid I was told by my stepmom to let it all breath, and be free from underwear.
By my mum I was told to wear underwear.. her view was simply if something happens in the night, you’re wearing underwear.(fire)
I seem to wash and put on clean underwear (briefs) nothing uncomfortable. Is it unhygienic to wear underwear to bed? I have on occasions not wore any but it’s such a habit now. I don’t wear my bra to bed. My mate thinks I’m bonkers wearing underwear to bed. Is it important to let our lady bits breath?

As for wearing them under pyjama pants, why?

But you wear underwear under your normal day trousers, right? So how are pj pants any different?

I wear knickers in bed. I have never had thrush.

I wear boxers with no underwear at home especially when it's the warmer months. lol It's just me and my husband anyway.

If it's colder I wear pajama bottoms, no underwear.

Unless people are lying on their backs legs akimbo with no duvet on - how exactly are your bits breathing??

Until I joined Mumsnet I never realized so many women wore PJ's.
I wear nothing,maybe fluffy socks in winter and will battle with pants and nightie if visiting someone.

Pj seam irritates fanjo without pants. Prefer nothing but if cold or menstruating pants on. I think its healthy to let the air get to my bits.

Brits seems to have evolved to breathe through their bits. This wearing no underwear in bed is a very peculiar Brit thing. I'd watch out for it.

I'm lying my in bed now, with pants, trying to work out the dynamics of 'airing' the one part of me which isn't exposed even if naked I'm wondering if it's like the peeing in the shower thread where you would have to do acrobatics for the suggested things to happen

No underwear here but just because it's comfortable not because I use my fanjo as gills

I always slept in pjs at home, OH is a naked sleeper so now I am too.

I struggle when away now to sleep with pjs on. I like to let things breathe but have clothes close to hand in an emergency.

I wear knickers only. Never had any probs.

I sleep in a tshirt and pants. (Pyjamas if it's really cold)
If I don't wear pants I end up with sticky inner thighs which I hate.

In summer it's just knickers

I have never once had thrush or a yeast infection in my life

I spent 2 years of infertility treatment with my gynaecologist down there up to several times a week - my womb might not work, but my vagina is in top notch condition despite knicker wearing and no scuba gear to 'allow my vag to breathe'

Unless you're sleeping legs akimbo with no covers on, how much ventilation is your vag getting under a duvet anyway?!

I wear knickers under PJs because I can get a couple of days wear out of PJ bottoms

I wouldn't wear the same knickers two days on the run, so why would I wear PJ bottoms with no knickers two days on the run?

Clean knickers every night
Clean PJ top or t-shirt every night
Clean socks every night
Clean PJ bottoms every 2-3 nights

But with a duvet covering you , why on earth do you need pants and PJ bottoms
I wear a nightie , or go naked Secretions ?

In winter I go to bed in knickers, long sleeved top, PJ bottoms, socks and a wool jumper. Under a 13.5 tog duvet

I'm only braving wearing a t-shirt and pants rather than full on PJs because it's much warmer

I'd bloody freeze in a nightie or worse, naked!

I sleep with a pantliner in my knickers too because I hate feeling damp from any secretions - cervical fluid / vaginal discharge is pretty normal for most women.

I can't stand wearing underwear or pyjamas in bed so I never do, except if my withdrawal bleed (I'm on the pill) is slightly heavier than usual, then I'll wear a tampon and a pair of old knickers. But if the bleeding isn't too heavy I just wear a tampon.

I only wear pants to bed, if I have my periods. Otherwise, I sleep fully naked.
