To really like Grand Theft Auto?

I'm mid 30s but still love video gaming. It takes a lot to get into a game the older I get but I have a few firm favourites- The Sims, SimCity and GTA. DH has just bought me GTA5 and I love it! The intestine world, driving around LA, the silly radio stations, the madly innapropriate dialogue - even the ironic stuff like the characters telling off their kids for playing violent video games - it's like an escape from reality. I can so see why kids get obsessed with stuff like this.

AIBU to love something that a lot of people (parents especially) my age frown upon?

I love GTA. I love stealing a taxi and clocking on as a taxi driver. I could do it for hours. It's a proper escape for me.

I haven't spent much time playing it, but my DS has it and it's such a stunning game.

I get told off by bf when having a go on GTA5 because I drive really carefully and feel guilty if I crash or run someone over. I also stop when traffic lights are on red

I have got a bit better now and stab or shoot random people.

I also stop at traffic lights and feel bad for running people over. I was quite proud of myself last night though, I'd shot someone and they were just about to get back up so I walked over to them very calmly and shot them in the head execution style. I felt very gangsta 😂

Oh god me and my DP completed it on PS3 and then when we got a PS4 we bought it again and completed it again! It is an amazing game!!!!!!

Now I'm thinking of digging it out and playing some more online stuff!

Nah i love it. My OH will never let me live down the time i tried to escape the police by sitting in the back ofa taxi and waiting for it to drive me way discreetly.

Someone else posted upthread about driving really carefully in their stolen car, and another poster about stopping at the red lights.. i do both of these things too. I also don't switch the radio stations until i'm stopped at the lights. i do love mugging people on it though. It's like you can listen to both the angel on your shoulder and the devil at the same time. Great game

To the OP who mentioned The Sims and anyone else who plays the game, does everyone think that they haven't topped The Sims 2 yet and The Sims 4 seems babyish and like it's constantly telling you what to do?

I think it's ridiculous for grown women to be playing a silly bloody video game. Have none of you played Saints Row? It's much better

The best Sims game was the one with the university and seasons expansion pack, that one will never be topped. Sims 4 is crap really, I only play it because I can't get used to the graphics on the older games now.

Talking of radio stations on GTA5 - I always switch the stations to suit the character I'm playing, so if I'm Franklin I put rap on, Michael gets old school rock stations and Trevor gets the country and western channels 😂 I also like to park properly in proper parking spaces.

It's a brilliant game. The only thing wrong with it is that it's too popular, so God knows when GTA6 will come.

Despite being a 2013 game, GTA 5 was 5th in the American charts last month. Unbelievable.

I love GTA5 too, I have replayed it a lot!

I have a PS4, I play it much more than my DH.

Sims 2 was still my favourite for a loooong time after Sims 3 was released, but now Sims 3 is my favourite. I really dislike Sims 4 and have uninstalled it.

I still play 2 from time to time though, it will always have a special place in my heart :P

I still pop onto WoW from time to time too although it gets harder and harder to play casually as time goes on, not that it was ever easy in the first place. I heard a rumour about Blizzard running full on Vanilla servers again and got madly excited, but that was early last year and i'm still waiting.

I love GTA! Just driving around, stealing cars and having shootouts with the police it's just a lot of fun it's like an American gangster film and all the characters in GTAV are great especially Franklin and Trevor I'm not too into Micheal but his family is hilarious!

I've actually not played the sims since the sims3 as the sims4 just doesn't look very appealing it's seem too cartoonish. I'm currently playing state of decay 2 which is pretty good.
