To really like Grand Theft Auto?

I'm mid 30s but still love video gaming. It takes a lot to get into a game the older I get but I have a few firm favourites- The Sims, SimCity and GTA. DH has just bought me GTA5 and I love it! The intestine world, driving around LA, the silly radio stations, the madly innapropriate dialogue - even the ironic stuff like the characters telling off their kids for playing violent video games - it's like an escape from reality. I can so see why kids get obsessed with stuff like this.

AIBU to love something that a lot of people (parents especially) my age frown upon?

Lots of things cause problems in families: alcohol, infidelity, money worries, thoughtless DPs, problem behaviour in children, interfering ILs... list is endless, and I'd think that gaming would rate pretty low on it.
GTA is an adult game. For adults.

Dragon Age Origins is a beautiful game that I played through repeatedly. Developed a mild obsession with Morrigan, and totally fell in love with Alistair Grin DP thought it was ok Grin

Thing is though, gaming can be beneficial for children, if done right. People are having issues with children bahvaing badly because of their parenting, not because of the game. It's really frustrating as it's a good game with many virtues that are brilliant for children. It's the same parents that moan that their children are addicted to screens, then let them use them at restaurants, as a babysitter etc. Everything in moderation and balance.

Oh, Chevalier, Dragon Age is my favourite! I fell in love with Alistair too, then made a decision that killed him at the end! I was absolutely horrified and had to start again Grin

Also, Fable 2. Excellent game, got very invested in that. (3 was a pretty big let down after all Molyneuxs hype)

Online is awesome especially if you do the heists! I'd recommend a headset though .

Alistair was the best romance in Origins. I make him King everytime.

I'm torn between Anders and Fenris in Dragon Age 2.

In Inquisition, Cullen is the best.

I also fell in love with Alistair on Dragon Age. My love was requited, and then the fucker sacrificed himself for me.

I am still grieving.

I played as an elf on my first playthrough of Origins and made Alistair king. Sadly I missed out on being his queen by ONE sentence of dialogue and was left heartbroken.

Also, Fallout 4. Got really invested in that and every decision relating to Shaun tore me apart (DS was a baby when I played it so I projected massively).

I have such a soft spot for the GTA games. Vice City has one of the best in-game soundtracks I've ever heard, I loved making CJ go into burger shops and eat until he became obese in San Andreas Grin, and I recently made Michael do a triathlon just for the hell of it Grin You can do SO much on it now and the addition of wildlife etc. is fantastic.

Has anyone else done the Wildlife Photography Competition that you can do on GTA V? It's SO much fun.
