I'm mid 30s but still love video gaming. It takes a lot to get into a game the older I get but I have a few firm favourites- The Sims, SimCity and GTA. DH has just bought me GTA5 and I love it! The intestine world, driving around LA, the silly radio stations, the madly innapropriate dialogue - even the ironic stuff like the characters telling off their kids for playing violent video games - it's like an escape from reality. I can so see why kids get obsessed with stuff like this.

AIBU to love something that a lot of people (parents especially) my age frown upon?

Loving Fallout 4 at the moment.

KlutzyDraconequus · 23/05/2018 11:28

GTA:V And especially Online.
I think my total hours put in was over 4000.. was addicted to the online for well over a year.
The only game that ever got close in hours time is probably minecraft..

I dont play PS4 these days much.. had to step away.. lol

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 11:31

I love turning all the chests once and pre-opening the levels and just rampaging and killing! Juvenile but great larks.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 11:32

That should read "turning all the cheats on"

longdaysandpleasantnights · 23/05/2018 11:32

I love Red Dead Redemption, like GTA but in the Wild West. I can quite happily ride around on my horse picking flowers and helping strangers all day. Grin

Roll on October for RDR2!

OnTheporch · 23/05/2018 11:34

I've never played GTA5 online - can anyone talk me through it? The last time I tried I made a character and felt a bit lost - didn't really know what I was supposed to do!

I do love a game of GTA.
And sorry Mumsnet, the devil that is call of duty Shock

KlutzyDraconequus · 23/05/2018 11:38

Theres so much to do online itd be impossible to direct you. Lol.

Create a chracter, jump on in. Fond some missions or races tonearn cash, omprove gins and buy a car. Tune that car tonwin more races. Find a co-op to play in. Run missions like heists, bank robberies, assassinations etc. Work as a team to get it done. Eventually set up a business and be executice. A biker gang and club house.
Its immense, endless, unlimited options and down right bloody good.fun.

MamaBear2181 · 23/05/2018 11:40

And sorry Mumsnet, the devil that is call of duty

No need to be sorry about it, it's one of the best games ever! Earlier editions, not fussed on the last 2 really.

siwel123 · 23/05/2018 11:42

@Mama. I agree not a big fan of non boots on the ground stuff. I prefer proper boots on the ground stuff not space and jetpacks

ComfortablyGlum · 23/05/2018 11:42

Massive GTA V fan here!

I’m in the minority as I absolutely love Trevor. I put him a frock and have tremendous fun doings heists with him running around in a flowery mini dress. I know (proper) LA quite well and it tickles me how accurate the road layout is.

The game in so impressive in every single way - characters, gameplay, story, graphics and humour. A pure masterclass in video gaming entertainment. I am looking forward to GTA VI whenever that will be but I will miss Michael, Franklin and Trevor SO much!

Ps SPOILER

Could anyone else not face killing any of the 3 characters at the end of the story mode episodes? I just couldn’t do it!

NearLifeExperience · 23/05/2018 11:44

This is a first: a GTA thread on MN with 33 posts and no negative comments about the game!

Surely someone (who's never played it) will be along soon to say it should be banned because it's all about violence to women, and because it's not suitable for children (erm, it's an 18).

ComfortablyGlum · 23/05/2018 11:44

We should have a GTA Online Mumsnet squad 😀😀

siwel123 · 23/05/2018 11:44

I didn't kill any of them. The ending mission was lots better finding all the other dicks and killing them.

The Michael ending was especially sad I hear though

Mightywease · 23/05/2018 11:45

I bloody love video gaming!!

The Fallout series is my favourite (I miss my Megaton house!) but I have laughed out loud playing GTA5 as I drive (ineptly) around crashing into things and people.

I saw the voice actor of Trevor in an old "Law & Order" episode a while ago and I was so, so excited. I even texted my husband saying "TREVOR'S ON THE TELLY!!"

I'm not a massive GTA fan, but I'm well into Cod WW2 at the moment.

Also currently love Monster Hunter World, FFXV and Fortnite if I'm in the mood.

MamaBear2181 · 23/05/2018 11:49

I love this thread, and i love this idea!

We should have a GTA Online Mumsnet squad

My baby is wondering what i'm sat here cackling about haha

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 23/05/2018 11:49

I love GTA and The Sims! We only have a PS2 though so we're a bit behind the times, still playing San Andreas Grin

I used to have a huge Sims2 collection, I had 11 expansion and stuff packs, and then I sold it all to buy Sims3 because I discovered the Pets pack had horses Grin So I now have Sims3 with the Pets and Seasons packs.

Cloud9Until6am · 23/05/2018 11:50

YANBU it's my guilty pleasure Grin when i can wrestle the controller from DH who's mad about Far Cry atm

siwel123 · 23/05/2018 11:51

@Ain't nobody. Update update update. You're missing out Grin

OnTheporch · 23/05/2018 11:52

Argh! Skimmed past the spoilers there but caught a glimpse! Please, no more! I've only just got Trevor to Los Santos! I've just played the mission with Michaels daughter doing the dance audition and actually caught myself warming to Trevor when Tracey ran upto him for a cuddle! I wish I had an aging psychopath in my life, someone I could call up to cause mayhem to people that piss me off 😂

I'm up for a GTA5 mumsnet squad! I'll create an online character tonight. I love character progression and the thought of starting with nothing and building up to mansions etc - can you buy houses online?

Lethaldrizzle · 23/05/2018 11:52

Isn't thst the murdering prostitutes game or has that gone now

MamaBear2181 · 23/05/2018 11:56

I agree not a big fan of non boots on the ground stuff. I prefer proper boots on the ground stuff not space and jetpacks

This is my biggest gripe about them too.

siwel123 · 23/05/2018 11:57

Yes you can buy houses and garages to store cars and bikes etc. And places to store tanks and planes Grin.
