I see your list and add preparing cauliflower with the de-leafing and breaking it up. And it tastes horrific

DanielCraigsUnderpants · 24/04/2018 10:08

kind of begs the question why I bother really.

BurningGubbins · 24/04/2018 10:10

The whole process of making mashed potato. Pain in the arse. I now say if my family want it they have to make it themselves. I will of course eat it once made.

MadisonAvenue · 24/04/2018 10:10

I love oranges but can't often be arsed to peel them. I have a nifty little peeling gadget which is a bit too blunt now, really must find another online.

I can't think of any food prep that I actually enjoy.

KirstenRaymonde · 24/04/2018 10:11

Satsumas are easy to peel, but big oranges I’d just cut into 8ths and chew outside the inside...

IAmMatty · 24/04/2018 10:11

Orange nails

Mookatron · 24/04/2018 10:12

I love roast squash but it omg it's such a pain in the arse! The peel gets up your finger nails, chopping it is like hacking firewood and then the seeds, the seeds!!

SheSparkles · 24/04/2018 10:12

Taking husks out of strawberries....I used to have a nifty wee thing to do it but it’s gone AWOL

UpstartCrow · 24/04/2018 10:12

MadisonAvenue A bic pen with the cap on makes a tedious and fiddly emergency orange peeling tool, if you dont actually own a knife for some reason.

Tamingoftheglue · 24/04/2018 10:14

I hate oranges. Loved them when I had my second baby, haven't been able to stand them since.

I also hate peeling potatoes, no idea why but it makes the skin on my hands really sore.

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 24/04/2018 10:14

Peeling potatoes kills my soul.

PsychedelicSheep · 24/04/2018 10:14

...are not the only fruit

vampirethriller · 24/04/2018 10:15

Grating cheese. But I don't like ready grated, it's powdery and wrong...

UpstartCrow · 24/04/2018 10:16

Peeling and chopping onions and garlic is actually worse. Pity you cant buy frozen ready peeled oranges.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/04/2018 10:16

Wiping mushrooms. Grating carrots. Peeling, chopping and mashing potatoes.

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 24/04/2018 10:16

Also turnip. Hence why my DC have never tasted it.

LaurieMarlow · 24/04/2018 10:17

Peeling a butternut squash is the worst by far.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/04/2018 10:17

Psychedelic you beat me to it! 😂

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 24/04/2018 10:18

I love potatoes but preparing them for any form is so annoying.

Also I totally agree with you about oranges.

UnaOfStormhold · 24/04/2018 10:20

Mook, if you're roasting squash you don't need to peel, just cut into wedges and the skin falls off once cooked!

I don't mind peeling potatoes but do hate cutting them up for chips, so fiddly!

Loyaultemelie · 24/04/2018 10:23

Una this is life changing! I use loads of squash and it is a pain in the arse.
Also I avoid big oranges (although like satsumas) I don't overly mind potato prep though

CrabbyJo · 24/04/2018 10:24

SheSparkles
I use a straw for removing the middle of strawberries

QuimReaper · 24/04/2018 10:45

I'm never really sure how to wipe a mushroom. I know I'm supposed to do it but I just sort of improvise. As long as there's no real live mud on them I feel like they're OK.

QuimReaper · 24/04/2018 10:46

Oh, and OP, yes, oranges are the devil's fruit. The juice gets everywhere even if you just chop and suck, it's horrid. My friend gets around this by eating them skin and all, like an apple Confused

user1467718508 · 24/04/2018 10:48

A couple of nights ago a friend looked confusedly at my fruit bowl with navel oranges in, and said "you don't actually peel and eat those, do you!?"

I quickly reassured her that they were used exclusively for garnishing negronis Grin Gin
