Aibu to ask how you deal with thigh rub?

It's hot. I want to wear a skirt. In colder weather I always wear tights but when it's this hot wearing tights is horrible! Even at my thinnest (9st) I have never achieved a thigh gap. By the end of the day I have sore red raw patches on my inner thighs where they rub. How can I fix this? The only alternative is to wear leggings under a maxi or trousers Hmm. Surely I am not the only uncomfortable person ?

Never been a problem since I started using roll on deodorant.

cardibach · 20/04/2018 22:29

I’m a 20 and bandalettes work brilliantly for me. I’d think if you are wearing long pants/cycle shorts you might as well be wearing trousers as far as coolness goes. Bandalettes aren’t hot. I usually wear linens trousers tbh, but if I have to wear a skirt I use bandalettes every time.

TooManyPaws · 20/04/2018 22:33

Once the leggings come off, I have a couple of pairs of culottes from Holy Clothing that look like hippy tiered skirts.

BeeMyBaby · 20/04/2018 22:44

Loose pj short shorts from primark.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 20/04/2018 22:47

Lancane anti chafing - or in a pinch, hair serum. Good if your shoes rub too.

PenCreed · 20/04/2018 22:51

I mix between cycling shorts and bandelettes. Bandelettes are great, but if I wear them too much I have a weird reaction to the silicon (blistering). Also if you don't get the position just right you can still chafe a bit at the top - a slightly raw patch on one thigh is currently testament to this. I wore loose trousers today instead...

Some great ideas

TattyDevine · 20/04/2018 22:59

Sorry Sparklefarts (consider sparkle butt, sparkle flaps and sparkle nips before you decide) 😎😂

RubyBoots7 · 20/04/2018 23:23

BANDALETTES!!

Honestly life changing. Available in a heap of colours and lace or cotton. Just on amazon or ebay. Get the original ones as they have the grippers top and bottom. Some of the cheaper ones just have gripper at top.

I have tried all the various bodyglide etc creams and powders. They've never worked for me no matter what my size. Have various pots and tubes gathering dust in a drawer.

Also who wants to wear cycling shorts in the summer, it's really not great for your crotch!

CynsterBitch · 20/04/2018 23:34

Roll on deodorant, I usually go for a men's extra sensitive, non Alco one. Put it on first thing in the morning, sometimes reapply half way through the day, sometimes it lasts all day. It was such a revelation to me first time I tried it

firef1y · 21/04/2018 07:23

Body glide...seriously it's fantastic I apply it anywhere that might rub before I run/exercise and haven't chafed at all even during a marathon.

nandaandm · 21/04/2018 07:54

Spray them with dry shampoo. It really works !

Odiepants · 21/04/2018 07:59

Another vote for Big Bloomers anti chafing pants. Really cool, non sweaty and stay put. They do come up small - I get the 18-22 and I'm a 16-18 bottom half.

WazFlimFlam · 21/04/2018 08:16

Get pregnant. My thighs have slimmed right down despite having treetrunk thighs, even as a slim child. It is a revelation about how the other half live.

More practically, cycling shorts. You need to cover the bulky bit of your inner thigh with something smooth.

Ollivander84 · 21/04/2018 11:19

This link should work for the big tights/bloomers company and make the shorts £10 (saw on a FB page, not linked to me)
I think their new Aztec ones are still £10 too

Springersprung · 21/04/2018 12:19

Hasn't worked for me Waz. 28 weeks pregnant and despite putting on less than a stone, the chub rub is worse than ever. So pleased to find this thread. About to go and order Body Glide!

LeighaJ · 21/04/2018 12:27

Why does thigh chaffing happen? I've never understood why some women get it and others don't.

I understand that having a large chest is likely the culprit behind my boob sweat problems, but no matter my weight I don't get thigh chaf.

RhurbabAndCustard · 21/04/2018 12:28

Sure maximum protection stick deodorant on thighs. Works a treat

raindropsandsunshine · 21/04/2018 12:29

I wear running shorts underneath!

WazFlimFlam · 21/04/2018 13:18

Leihga its thigh shape pure and simple. I carry a lot of weight around the top of my thighs both inner and outer saddle bags iyswim. Yes a significant amount of that is fat, but it is also muscle so little I can really do about the shape.

Some men get it. My husband does and he isn't overweight. Tall and broad but lean.

Cheesypasta · 21/04/2018 13:43

Wow, such a lot of handy recommendations on this thread!

CutesyUserName · 21/04/2018 15:45

Made the coconut oil and cornflour mix yesterday and it's working a treat.

BlueUggs · 23/04/2018 17:01

Facebook thigh things

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 23/04/2018 17:18

Talc on its own is not enough.
