Aibu to ask how you deal with thigh rub?

It's hot. I want to wear a skirt. In colder weather I always wear tights but when it's this hot wearing tights is horrible! Even at my thinnest (9st) I have never achieved a thigh gap. By the end of the day I have sore red raw patches on my inner thighs where they rub. How can I fix this? The only alternative is to wear leggings under a maxi or trousers Hmm. Surely I am not the only uncomfortable person ?

I put body glide on - if I haven't got this I put deodorant on

Ohmydayslove · 20/04/2018 17:15

When I said cycling I don’t mean you have to stay on a bike permanently to avoid thigh rub although it would work Wink

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 20/04/2018 17:16

As soon as I've shaved my legs I will trying some of these 😂

2018SoFarSoGreat · 20/04/2018 17:16

it gets better. I failed to keep reading down the page. Yes. All of our problems. Solved!

I cannot recommend M&S culottes enough. Yes, they look like they fell out of the Victorian era but they are soooooo comfy under a skirt.

I keep a small tub of coconut oil in my handbag for emergencies - it helps your thighs to glide together rather than rub and it will soothe the chafe. Even lip balm will do if you're desperate.

but I have just bought a few pairs of cycle shorts designed for this purpose. I'm sick of wearing leggings all summer. I want to wear long dresses and skirts.

I have never had a thigh gap even at a size 10. My thighs are chunky and always will be.

TattyDevine · 20/04/2018 17:28

You are not fat enough. Put on enough weight so your thighs are rammed so hard together they don't even rub whilst waddling.

You're welcome! 😎

LightDrizzle · 20/04/2018 17:28

Wow! The cut-off old tights thing is genius, I’m a bit embarrassed it didn’t occur to me.
With regard to the “tone-up” suggestion, even when I was a gym bunny with an underweight BMI weighing 6st11lb, I didn’t have thigh-gap. I had a back like a xylophone, my tits shrank and I had s 4 pack, but no thigh gap. My upper arms similarly never go really slender. From upper thigh/ arm down, my limbs are really slender.

This is a great thread for me.

I also wear longjohns or slipshorts as they are also called. Balms don't work on my fat legs.

caoraich · 20/04/2018 17:33

I feel your pain! No matter how thin or chubby I am my thighs always rub, even at a size 8 Sad

These are my answer www.bandelettes.com/

They stay up by themselves, don't roll and are really easy to wash and quick to dry. Plus if you're wearing a shorter skirt and accidentally flash them then there's always the illusion that you're actually wearing hold-ups Grin

crunchymint · 20/04/2018 17:38

I have never had thigh gap even as a child and as a slim young adult. I think it must be how your body is built, because I can seen women fatter than me with a thigh gap.

Xenophile · 20/04/2018 17:39

Gold Bond powder is amazing.

I think I might look at the fresh breasts stuff though, because droopy boob sweat is just awful, horrible half moons of sweat just under your boobs is deeply unattractive.

MaggieFS · 20/04/2018 17:41

Hooray I'm not alone! I don't find Lanacane lasts and it's a bit pricey.

I have tried the cut off tights thing, but they're hot and icky and anyway and they just rolled all the way up Shock

My favourite so far is some very cheap short cycling shorts from Sports Direct. As cycling shorts they're crap but as they're more cotton than Lycra, they're not hot and they're not tight like support underwear, so don't ruin the lines of clothing.

DH always asks why they're in the laundry when he hasn't seen me wearing them. He has no idea...

sparklefarts · 20/04/2018 17:41

Hahaha tatty I tried that! Rammed doesn't stop the rub!

Cheeseandapple · 20/04/2018 17:42

@PeachesandPie yes to bandlettes! They are fab, can't rate them high enough. They look like the top of sexy stockings, they stay in place and so you don't to adjust or reapply throughout the day and they aren't hot like leggings or shorts because they just wrap around your thigh!

Bramble71 · 20/04/2018 17:45

Apparently, using a roll on deodorant (reapplying every 3 or 4 hours or so) is the best way to deal with this. I'll give it a try if and when it ever gets warm enough to get out of my winter clothes here in Scotland!

MrsMuddlePluck · 20/04/2018 17:45

I've decide to try cutting the crotch out of my tights for summer. My legs are too thread veined + bruised old lady legs to have them out in public at work. Outside of work I might try those M+S culottes?

MrsMuddlePluck · 20/04/2018 17:46

Just looked at culottes...maybe not

Juells · 20/04/2018 17:47

Befuddled Hmm

TattyDevine · 20/04/2018 17:48

Dammit Sparkletits I better get back to the gym

Undercoverbanana · 20/04/2018 17:48

I’m a runner. My thighs rub in running knickers. Vaseline is the answer.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 20/04/2018 17:50

Udderly smooth chamois cream. It's an anti chafing cream for cyclists. My DH uses it and I've been "borrowing" it for the last two summers no chub rub whatsoever and it doesn't feel greasy - your thighs just slide against each other. Apply in the morning and all ok for the day.

sparklefarts · 20/04/2018 17:52

Tatty sparkletits haha I like the error..I might change my name now sparkletits is much better Grin
