I know it's a day late but I'm having an ongoing debate with my mum who insists you never toast a hot cross bun, whereas I think you do. Who's right?

Delicious toasted

Kerberos · 31/03/2018 12:45

pinkyredrose · 31/03/2018 12:45

Damn right u toast them!

TobleroneBoo · 31/03/2018 12:45

I'm with you! Toasted with loads of butter 🙈

MayFayner · 31/03/2018 12:46

I think they're nicer not toasted, but if they're a day old they might benefit from toasting!

Sirzy · 31/03/2018 12:47

I have mine toasted and lots of butter

Ds has his not toasted and dry.

Ds is wrong on this one!

viques · 31/03/2018 12:47

There is no polite way to say this.

Your mum is on glue.

windchimesabotage · 31/03/2018 12:48

I have never eaten one not toasted and thought they existed to be toasted? They are decorated tea cakes surely?

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2018 12:49

I always toast them.

Roominmyhouse · 31/03/2018 12:50

I only like them toasted.

KitKat1985 · 31/03/2018 12:50

Always toasted and dripping with butter here.

DH eats his untoasted and WITH NO BUTTER ON.

I'm considering LTB.

jaseyraex · 31/03/2018 12:50

Toasted with more butter than is ever necessary Grin

I don't think I've ever had one not toasted!

TheLastMermaid · 31/03/2018 12:51

Toasted. There is no other way.

No need to post, anyone else. We've got this.

YourWanMajella · 31/03/2018 12:52

What kind of madwoman eats an untoasted hot cross bun? Shock

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 31/03/2018 12:52

DH has his cold with jam like a sandwich. They are just fancy teacakes though aren't they, so toast and butter all the way.

Gottagetmoving · 31/03/2018 12:53

I never used to toast them but decided to try it last week and its much better!

ifcatscouldtalk · 31/03/2018 12:53

I'll eat both toasted & not toasted (with butter).
My preference is toasted though.

TheSpottedZebra · 31/03/2018 12:57

Toasted, with butter, OR non-toasted, as the outside of a cheese sandwich.

TheSpottedZebra · 31/03/2018 12:57

Or anyway really. I love them.

happymummy12345 · 31/03/2018 12:58

I only ever eat them cold, separate with proper butter on one side and butter and strawberry jam on the other side

Astrid2 · 31/03/2018 13:00

Definitely toasted, with a tonne of butter and marmalade.

Are you not meant to eat hot cross buns after Good Friday?? I still have 8 in the freezer 😂

TheSassyAssassin · 31/03/2018 13:00

Had two toasted this morning with butter and honey (yum) and toasted is my preference. However....if I am in a rush I have been known to open a pack and wolf one straight down whole (no slicing or butter) and actually a naked hot cross bun can be a glorious thing. So you're both right Gast Easter Wink

mum11970 · 31/03/2018 13:00

Isn’t there a clue in the name HOT cross bun?

AnneProtheroe · 31/03/2018 13:01

My ex would eat a hot cross bun like an apple. Didn't even cut it or butter it, nothing.

Heathen. Angry

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 31/03/2018 13:08

I am in the toasted with lashings of butter group-
DH eats them any way they come-

DS eats his dry and untoasted.
I have failed as a Mother...
