To toast my hot cross buns?

I know it's a day late but I'm having an ongoing debate with my mum who insists you never toast a hot cross bun, whereas I think you do. Who's right?

They're supposed to be toasted. Although I sometimes eat mine not toasted these days, but it isn't the correct way.....

pinkhorse · 31/03/2018 13:09

I can't eat them not toasted!

Watto1 · 31/03/2018 13:10

THey are HOT cross buns, not COLD cross buns. Toasted all the way.

Knittedfairies · 31/03/2018 13:10

They’re considered raw if untoasted here.

RidingWindhorses · 31/03/2018 13:11

Always toast and butter.

wildduckhunt · 31/03/2018 13:11

Of course you toast them Confused

Ltb.

BlueSapp · 31/03/2018 13:12

Always toasted, never eat them cold urgh!!

Follyfoot · 31/03/2018 13:13

Surely they are supposed to be toasted? Untoasted would be all gooey.

Eminybob · 31/03/2018 13:13

It has never crossed my mind not to toast them. As far as I’m aware that is the way they are eaten. I’m Shock that this is not always the case.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/03/2018 13:13

Split, toasted and buttered. Slice of strong cheddar in the middle and eat with gusto; it's only once a year!!

UpstartCrow · 31/03/2018 13:13

First day - not toasted.
Second day - toasted with butter and cinnamon.

Best of both worlds.

MaverickSnoopy · 31/03/2018 13:14

Love them both ways with a preference for toasted.

One year at work someone brought in hot cross buns for everyone. I was so excited. Then I found out that there was no butter and the didn't have butter with them EVER! I literally could not eat it. So disappointing.

Tried them toasted for the first time this year - why did I not discover this years ago?! This morning I had one toasted, and one plain - like them either way.

HobnobBob · 31/03/2018 13:16

Toasted, always.

Maybeicanhelp · 31/03/2018 13:17

Toasted, with best butter.

I never knew there was any other way.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 31/03/2018 13:18

So... your mum likes a cold cross bun How odd!

TheSassyAssassin · 31/03/2018 13:18

Wow Maverick your butter disappointment is literally dripping across this page Easter Grin

LEELULUMPKIN · 31/03/2018 13:19

I can't believe that I have been 48 years on this planet to only find out today that people eat them untoasted! What devilry is that? How else does the butter run down your wrist to lick off?

AnneProtheroe · 31/03/2018 13:19

I think Maverick was very disappointed!

GrouchyKiwi · 31/03/2018 13:20

They are best toasted whole in a hot oven, then split open and slathered with butter, which melts. Crunchy outside, soft buttery interior. The best.

Second best is cut in half then toasted in the toaster.

Cold is unacceptable, except to my eldest.

pilates · 31/03/2018 13:20

Toasted with butter
