To toast my hot cross buns?

I know it's a day late but I'm having an ongoing debate with my mum who insists you never toast a hot cross bun, whereas I think you do. Who's right?

ds eats them cold. The rest of us shun him while we eat ours toasted, with butter.

I have made a culinary discovery. You buy the HCBs in the morning from a proper baker's (not supermarket), carry them home triumphantly, split them immediately - and here's the good bit -- load them up with Clotted Cream. Slather it on reeeaaallly high. Just amazing.
The next day, toast them to your heart's content, butter, jam, whatever..
But when they are lovely and fresh and soft -- clotted cream all the way.

Toasted with lots of butter and sometimes some strong cheese.

But my current toaster isn't wide enough Shock

Toasted and buttered. Three year old dd has them buttered but she likes her toast "not toasted" do is clearly in the wrong!

Preference is toasted, lots of butter.

Will eat them untoasted but still with butter.

However, I have discovered this year they seem to be one of my 'Can't Eat' foods which kicks off my IBS. ShockSad
