HELP! Dd has accidentally bought me a penis candle!

Dd in year 9 got back from her French exchange in Paris yesterday - she bought presents for me, Dh and both her siblings.

One problem - she bought me what she thought was an innocent Eiffel Tower candle. It clearly isn’t.

Should I break it to her?

Hmm I doubt any 14yrs old wouldn't recognise a penis shaped candle Hmm

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/03/2018 18:13

That's very sweet and innocent for a year 9. Cherish her innocence! Grin

LeighaJ · 24/03/2018 18:13

Just burn the candle down in your bedroom and Never tell her what it actually is.

DailyWailEatsSnails · 24/03/2018 18:28

My teen DD would think this was a HILARIOUS mistake. Her & DH would fall about laughing & fire innuendos at each other for hours on back of the incident.

Your call what's best in your house if OP is for real

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/03/2018 18:30

Oh dear God HairyHands! ShockGrin

Lovemusic33 · 24/03/2018 18:32

My dd is year 9, she knows what a penis looks like but I think she might not necesarally notice is the candle looks like the Eiffel Tower like in the OP’s link. I’m sure most year 9’s know what a penis looks like as they have had detailed sex Ed by the age of 14?

Maybe she was in a hurry and trying to buy a gift before getting back on the coach for example, she might not have noticed the top of the candle was shaped like a penis? You would have thought someone with her would have noticed though.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 24/03/2018 18:34

labasz we weren't with our teacher all the time on exchange trips, I remember going to the pub!

Skiiltan · 24/03/2018 18:47

Surely they can tell the differed between a pen is and the Eiffel Tower by then?

Interesting typo. Like Edward Bulwer-Lytton almost said, "The penis: mightier than the sword."

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 24/03/2018 18:53

Oh my, that "lighthouse" is hilarious!

Wauden · 24/03/2018 18:57

Great story about Madame de Gaulle. It must have been difficult for the other diners to have kept a straight face. Grin

smilingontheinside · 24/03/2018 19:01

Despite having sex ed I don't I or my dd would have known at 14 what an erect penis looked like (all girls achool) so quite possibly would have innocently purchased a candle thinking it something else. I also know some yr 9s now that wouldn't be aware as well as some 10 yr olds that would Wink I do hope if she is one of the unknowing type that she is not being laughed at by those that possibly/probably do. Make sure she knows and laugh about it to make sure if she is not having a laugh at your expense that other girls are not having a laugh at hers

Don't know how to post link to thread, but here is image of FrannyandZooey sculpture.

tea4two4three · 24/03/2018 19:38

I had mice a few year back and my grandma, on her holidays in Germany, brought me back a souviner money box of a mouse caught in a trap and a second mouse trying to pull it out from behind. It had a phrase on the box in German and when we translated it it came out as “get it whilst you can”. Never did tell my grandma, she would have been mortified, but It gave the rest of us a good laugh.

Springprim · 24/03/2018 20:30

I would not have known at that age what a penis looked like errect & I doubt vet much that my dd would too. I can just imagine myself doing something like that at her age. My ds on the other hand, would totally know-obviously!

kimanda · 24/03/2018 20:41

who is frannyandzooey?

DairyisClosed · 24/03/2018 21:38

You really must keep it and bring it out again when she's older.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 24/03/2018 22:52

Oooooh I never get to play on threads like this, I give you DS's (aged 5 at the time) picture of a firework

LadyFarquinMark · 24/03/2018 23:13

Oh bless her OP. You can call her clueless if you want but really, not that much detailed inspection goes into holiday gifts for parents. I had a good few years on your DD when I bought a Greek urn style fake perfume for DM. Was so busy choosing the right fragrance I didn't realise the hieroglyphicically looking pictures were actually more karma sutra-ish. I think I'd already seen a couple of real ones in the flesh by this point so I can't even put it down to naiveté, just head-in-the-clouds unobservance. We had a good laugh when she pointed it out. If I was you, don't embarass her now, put it away in a drawer for a few years and you can both have a chuckle about it when it gets uncovered in the future Grin

nakedscientist · 26/03/2018 07:26

Slightly off topic because a grwnup did this, but my very religious friend at work brought some sweets in for the office. They were decorated with pandas. Each and every sweet had a wrapper adorned with two pandas ‘enjoying each other’ one on top of the other. She hadn’t noticed a thing until it was pointed out.

People still tease her, 8 years later!

nakedscientist · 26/03/2018 07:27

*grown up

WellThisIsShit · 26/03/2018 13:39

Ahh, I am terribly disappointed about the state of this thread, so holey its like Swiss cheese and neery a picture to be found from the Op. boo.

MirandaWest · 26/03/2018 13:45

I remember Frannys clay cock. Wonder how long ago that was.

MirandaWest · 26/03/2018 13:48

Have found it.

Is nearly 10 years old Shock
