HELP! Dd has accidentally bought me a penis candle!

aimeeniamh59 · 23/03/2018 09:30

Dd in year 9 got back from her French exchange in Paris yesterday - she bought presents for me, Dh and both her siblings.

One problem - she bought me what she thought was an innocent Eiffel Tower candle. It clearly isn’t.

Should I break it to her?

Alabama3 · 23/03/2018 18:01

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 23/03/2018 18:11

DarkNightDelight · 23/03/2018 18:15

Awww bless!

I'd burn it ASAP Grin

DarkNightDelight · 23/03/2018 18:15

And I tell her what is actually is

SomeKnobend · 23/03/2018 21:11

Amazing. No, you mustn't tell her. Display it in pride of place in your home until she's old enough that she realises what it is, and then let her tell you.

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 23/03/2018 21:24

Someone bought my mother in law 2 vases which bear an I canning resemblance to external female genitalia. Mother in law DEFINITELY know his though so she keeps them at the back of the shelf

FlissMumsnet · 23/03/2018 21:37

Hi Everyone,

Just a wee reminder to post within our TGs please - we'd hate to have to take this one down and spoil the fun.

You have to tell her. She will have shown friends on the trip, she might be that innocent but they won't all be and she needs to be able to style it out as a 'yeah I was totally winding mum up' or be teased forever more.

ErniesGhostlyGoldtops · 24/03/2018 09:35

When we were kids visiting Bristol, we went to the observatory on the downs and from the gift shop, bought a lamp on a stand for a present for our DMum. I remember there was a choice between clear glass or red glass and we (in our innocence) liked the red the best. We could never understand why Mum kept it hidden on a shelf in the built in wardrobe. When were older and rediscovered it in there we had a laugh about it. I still have it somewhere. I might get it out and light it and see if I can make a few bob!

FluffyWhiteTowels · 24/03/2018 09:55

@ErniesGhostlyGoldtops

What was the lamp resembling?

Sorry to derail the thread am just a little confused

SweetMoon · 24/03/2018 10:03

You need to keep it, don't burn it and then show her it in a few years time! It will be a funny story for years to come!

SoupDragon · 24/03/2018 10:07

Has the OP been back since yesterday morning?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/03/2018 10:42

DS made me a stunning sculpture of a lighthouse when he was four.

Tangofandango · 24/03/2018 10:50

FluffyWhiteTowels

I think Ernie means because it was a red lamp (red light in window = prostitute) rather than it resembling anything.

Ijustwantabloodyusername · 24/03/2018 10:53

@ILikeyourHairyHands, I love that artwork Grin

seven201 · 24/03/2018 11:19

I can believe this happened. I once made the mistake of setting a homework task that involved finding bad logos. Quite a few of the class innocently handed in a dentist one where it accidentally looked like a stick person giving a stickman a blow job. They were completely unaware! They wrote things like "it's boring as there's not much colour".

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 24/03/2018 17:40

I just think it is a shame that the French have to produce such an object to sell to tourists. Whatever happened to good taste? This is just NOT funny.

Avocadosarethewayforward · 24/03/2018 17:43

That is properly hilarious 😂

LookyLooky · 24/03/2018 17:51

Can MNHQ help the OP with posting a picture?

labazs · 24/03/2018 18:08

why did the teacher not stop her perhaps suggest some thing better or why on earth were they shopping in a place that sold things like that anyway
