Guns n Roses. Why?

Without my knowledge DD (6) has trawled Spotify only to proclaim that her favourite song is Welcome to the Jungle and she loves Guns n Roses.

How can this possibly have happened. I have done my best to get it right, really I have. Please help. What can I do?

Ds' choice on the school karaoke was Hotel California. Teacher probably managed to get ALL her marking done that day.

marymoosmum · 10/03/2018 21:22

She obviously has good taste, you have clearly done a great job. Grin

I dawn Axel Rose sing with AC/DC in London a couple of years ago. He was amazing. 🤘

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 10/03/2018 21:29

Top kid you've raised there. I remember DD, then 7, singing along to Can I play With Madness as we drove through the South of France.

"Your soul's gonna burn in a lake of fiyyaaahhhh!"

TalkinPeace · 10/03/2018 21:32

Until your child knows the opening chords of Fairies Wear Boots, you have not lived ;-)

BeastInView · 10/03/2018 21:36

'Too late mate, you dont want my sloppy seconds.'

Shock

@TERFragetteCity are you saying you have biblical knowledge of GD?!?! If so, I am MADLY JEALOUS AND DEMAND DETAILS!

Lol. A lady never tells!

BeastInView · 10/03/2018 21:57

I'm going to take that as a 'YES I did shag Greg Dulli' from you!

(but I really need details)

Oooeeeerrrrrindeed · 10/03/2018 22:01

My daughter knows the words to Immigrant Song. I am very proud of her.

smashyourglasses · 10/03/2018 22:12

You should get her into Faith No More, GNR's far superior old nemesis.

TERFragetteCity · 10/03/2018 22:16

I'm going to take that as a 'YES I did shag Greg Dulli' from you!

Lets face it, GD is a bad bad boy. That is all I am saying on the matter.

BeastInView · 10/03/2018 22:20

Dammit!

Purplefrogshoes · 10/03/2018 22:23

Love guns and roses! My dd who is 9 loves Elvis Hmm

stellenbosch · 10/03/2018 22:29

So sad he fucked his face up with bad surgery :-(

stellenbosch · 10/03/2018 22:30

Lol@avoid rocket queen

They DO NOT make them like that anymore (the snowflakes would be all over that with their hashtags!!)

sarahjaneg · 10/03/2018 22:36

Omg I would do anything for my teenagers to do this, we constantly have a band off session where I have to listen to their crap, then I play then decent music and try and convince them it's good.....
Never works and I'm left devastated 🤣

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 10/03/2018 23:21

I never got GnR. Much more of a Faith No More fan. In fact, it was seeing a fnm CD by my bed that turned a ons into a marriage!

Willow2017 · 11/03/2018 00:22

Both my dc are into all sorts of rock/metal (although dd also has a penchant for musicals) unsurprising as dh and I are both rock fans. I remember ds aged around 3 at the time hearing an advert for CBeebies radio where they said they would play your favourite song. He asked me if they would play his if he phoned and asked. I said they might, what is it? One by Metallica. Probably not then son!

Oh lordy tell me you let him try though Grin That would have given them some relief from all the crap they were asked for Grin

Willow2017 · 11/03/2018 00:23

I love a bit of FNM its good for the soul to scream it all out. Grin

NickyNackyNoodleNoo · 11/03/2018 06:52

My 13 year old loves rock and indie, his music selection on his phone is interesting. Five Fingered Death Punch anyone? although he says only certain ones are suitable for him! He clearly has more sense than DH who introduced them to him Hmm

Anyhoo he got bullied at school and some of it was over his music taste i.e his hatred of crap music, he laughed in their faces and refused to conform. It'll be interesting how his taste develops and change.

Toomanycats99 · 11/03/2018 07:08

My daughters drama class did school of rock - nearly 20 4-6 year old doing sweet child of mine on air guitars.it was fantastic!

She loved that song but she's a bit more of a little mix girl at heart!

Clandestino · 11/03/2018 07:15

@Willow2017 FNM are phenomenal!
On another note, there's a strange misconception amongst some adults that kids will sing nursery rhymes and kids songs till they turn teenagers. A friend of mine visited about 2 years ago and tried to get my DD, then six sing to some nursery tunes. DD was going through her Evanescence period at the time and was very confused about why she should hop around singing cheerfully about some millipede called Betty or whatever it was.
One of the hilarious memories was DD then four reenacting Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Look Mum, there's the two doggies and I am dancing between them!

BeansandSausages · 11/03/2018 07:37

Dc has loved GnR from about 3. Positively encouraged in this house!

Middleoftheroad · 11/03/2018 07:50

The day I can get my soon to be 12 year olds to appreciate The Smiths and The Cure will be a good one.

Despite years of indoctrination seems we can't compete with Big Shaq.

As a child I had no choice. Dad played Leonard Cohen or Pink Floyd back to back.

differentnameforthis · 11/03/2018 07:55

Sorry, is there something wrong with Gn'R?

Good for kids to discover their own style, regardless of who it is.
