Guns n Roses. Why?

Without my knowledge DD (6) has trawled Spotify only to proclaim that her favourite song is Welcome to the Jungle and she loves Guns n Roses.

How can this possibly have happened. I have done my best to get it right, really I have. Please help. What can I do?

She's got a good, taste! We are ACDC, Queen, Led Zeppelin, System of a Down, Metallica and Eminem family. DD loves singing to SoD even though I censor the song selection heavily (Violent Pornography is a no go e.g.) and she knows better than singing all the lyrics Grin Also, Nina Simmons etc are favourites over here. I would be more unhappy about crap like Little Minx or Justin Bieber

TERFragetteCity · 10/03/2018 18:45

I mostly want to marry him so he can sing Strawberry Wine to me every day

I am sure he would be only too happy to. Bless his stripey cottons.

isthismummy · 10/03/2018 18:47

Your DD has excellent taste. I'd be thrilled if I was her mum. Much better than the shite that she could be listening too. She could be an Ed Sheeran fan and then you'd have cause for concern.

Disclaimer: Guns N Roses may be one of my all time favourites from 11 years onward...

Terf I think when someone (like your good self) has put in the best part of two decades being a devoted slave there should be some pay off. For the 20 year anniversary you should at the very least get a coffee date with him. And at least one snog and a handhold.

Musicalstatues · 10/03/2018 18:51

@bugjune yes it’s true. They moved to the US when he was 4 I think.

Willow2017 · 10/03/2018 18:54

Good on her. Love G'n'R.
Our local radio which is on constantly at work seems to play the same 'top 10' songs over and over. They have all merged into one pile of shit.
Modern stuff all sounds the same, no personality i cant tell one from the other.
My kids have been brought up on Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, AC/DC, Metallica etc much more fun to sing along to.
If they were listening to Beiber i would feel a failure😀

Please thank your DD 🤗

I’m having a blast here!

There’s FAR worse she could be listening to than GnR as far as ‘suitability’ too. She’s 6, her idea of ‘Welcome to the jungle’ is not the same as GnR’s! 😂 and it’s a lot less worrisome than much of the shite out now.

bluebells1 · 10/03/2018 19:05

You have a lovely DD!

my DH was listening to Queen while babysitting and my niece is now a huge fan. She is 5! We caught her humming Killer Queen and you should have seen my DH's face. He was so proud, bless him!

DH took dd (8) to see GNR last year, she fucking LOVED it! She has the tour tshirts and everything. Her Spotify playlist is mainly drum and base (me) and rock (DH)! Her favourite song is Night Train. 🤘🏻

AnnieAnoniMouse · 10/03/2018 19:07

Ryam Adams Strawberry Wine

Bloody hell, that’s dreadful 🤣

I was feeling quite up after listening to GnR, I’m ready find a high bridge now.

ChickenDinnerChecky · 10/03/2018 19:08

Forgot to add she wore her purple leather jacket too!

BeastInView · 10/03/2018 19:09

Can I bagsie Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs? He makes me swoon.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 10/03/2018 19:09

bluebells how were your BIL/SIL with that? Quite a deviation from The Wheels on the Bus 🤣

NoisyBrain · 10/03/2018 19:15

My 4 year old DS loves a bit of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but his current favourite song is Robot Rock by Daft Punk, thanks to OH. He regularly requests it when he gets in from school Grin

BusySittingDown · 10/03/2018 19:17

I love Welcome To The Jungle. Good choice mini Cupofcake! Grin

Dipitydoda · 10/03/2018 19:30

Love that song ( hopefully steer clear of rocket queen though to avoid awks questions. On a sepetate note you could also use axl rose as a great e ample why you should never date anyone purely for their youthful looks. It has the potential to backfire massively in later life😂

BothersomeCrow · 10/03/2018 19:41

Take me back to Paradise City, when Axl Rose was young and pretty...

My kids (youngest 6) like GnR though prefer Queen. I figure Appetite and Use your Illusion 1 are OK, but not UyI 2 thanks to so many intelligible swear words, mostly from Get in the Ring (they weren't allowed to play that song at Wembley on the GitR tour!)

Meanwhile they like Katy Perry Roar, which is one of the few videos they can watch. most songs they only watch the Just Dance versions, which eliminates all the girls in their pants writhing around.

RhodaBorrocks · 10/03/2018 19:42

My DS has a GnR t-shirt at that age. It was awesome. He now likes Queen, Greenday, The Smiths, Stevie Wonder and does like a few GnR tracks, such as tgeur vover of Live and Let Die and Sweet Child of Mine.

He laughs at Ed Sheeran, but he does like some of Coldplay's new stuff, much to my shame (although even I can't dislike Paradise and Something Just Like This).

DoctorTwo · 10/03/2018 19:42

My then 4yr dd2 loved this.

RhodaBorrocks · 10/03/2018 19:43

*their cover

DoctorTwo · 10/03/2018 19:44

And she hates GnR

jmh740 · 10/03/2018 19:45

Sounds like she's got it right to me. Has she watched the new jumanji?

MrsKoala · 10/03/2018 19:59

Thinking about November Rain has reminded me of that programme where the guy plans the wedding as a surprise. There was one where the bloke was clearly just using its an excuse to relive his uni days and he themed the whole thing around the song November Rain. He got his fiancé a dress from a market iirc and had it cut so the front was short and long at the back. Shock

solvendie · 10/03/2018 20:09

You should be posting that she’s ‘Sweet child ‘o mine’ Grin
