Guns n Roses. Why?

Without my knowledge DD (6) has trawled Spotify only to proclaim that her favourite song is Welcome to the Jungle and she loves Guns n Roses.

How can this possibly have happened. I have done my best to get it right, really I have. Please help. What can I do?

Congratulate her on her excellent taste. Introduce her to other similar music. Back comb your hair and play air guitar to it.

Wait till she's 14 and there are loads of identikit pop stars in the charts wailing about lost love and often objectifying women and be incredibly grateful your dd has alternative tastes.

iklboo · 10/03/2018 17:43

DS's was Peaches by The Stanglers at that age. Blush

Dh still moans that our now 16yo DD no longer likes GnR and AC/DC.
They used to headbang in the kitchen when she was 4.

DragonBones · 10/03/2018 17:44

Juggling don't worry. DD came home from school singing
'Upside down
Inside out
If I had a gun I'd blow my brains out'
... Jamie T

beluga425 · 10/03/2018 17:44

iklboo that's a coincidence, DH and I were singing that earlier as I offered DD a tin of peaches!

Good girl! Give me Guns n Roses any day over the yawn fest that is Ed Sheer an or the tripe that is "mans not hot".

PlayingInPuddles · 10/03/2018 17:45

Cadence70

I'm so jealous of you right now. Saying that, if Axl had signed my tits I think I would have had a little accident. That man is so beautiful and even know, I definately would!

Flockoftreegulls · 10/03/2018 17:46

My sister had an Appetite for Destruction today shirt with a girl on the back with her knickers down and a bullet wound. My mother was apoplectic.
Good times! Grin

Flockoftreegulls · 10/03/2018 17:46

*t shirt

PointyBirdsAnointyNointy · 10/03/2018 17:47

DS's favourite song is Despacito. I'd happily pick Welcome To The Jungle over that, not least because Welcome To The Jungle reminds me of an old love.

bricksareheavy · 10/03/2018 17:47

High five to your daughter, OP Grin

FakeMews · 10/03/2018 17:47

Keep up the good work OP. Mind you her tastes may change.....
Mine grew up listening to a mix of 60s, 70s, 80s, rock, metal, opera and folk. Including GnR. To name a few.
One now listens to some godawful drum and base and the other has the most eclectic taste any 20 year old could have. Grin

OliviaStabler · 10/03/2018 17:48

She'll grow out of it... Hopefully!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/03/2018 17:48

Sweet Child O’ Mine - such a great song. I miss the 80s.

JugglingMummyof2 · 10/03/2018 17:48

I'm glad I made people laugh. They are now 13&16 and have realised over the years what are the actual lyrics and that they may not maybe quite what they thought. DD2 was great at singing in the car and gave us many a laugh over the years.

RJnomore1 · 10/03/2018 17:50

I call stealth boast!

beluga425 · 10/03/2018 17:51

November Rain was a thumbs down. It's bit slushy, don't really remember it.
She's just said "can you put some Kiss on?"
Whaaaaaaaaat?

OP posts:
beluga425 · 10/03/2018 17:53

RJnomore1 not if you knew my musical taste. Practically every kind of music played on Earth except rock.

Undercoverbanana · 10/03/2018 17:55

At least you missed the High School Musical years. Dear God. I rip the piss out of DD now.

And don’t start me on Tom Daley coming out. DD’s best friend was in such a state.

My ex’s niece had to have the day of school when Take That split. She made herself so sick.

I thought I would marry George Michael. What do I know?

flippertygibbett · 10/03/2018 17:55

You and I could be great friends @JugglingMummyof2......

I too DS to see Bon Jovi when he was 5 Grin

Sadly as he's gotten older his dads love of "dance" music has taken over Angry

Thehogfather · 10/03/2018 17:56

yy. Along with the accusation you are unreasonable not to let them go to mosh pits and rather dubious events full of adults. Because of course going to a metal gig with just friends is exactly the same as other friends being allowed to pop concerts unaccompanied.

bananaberyl · 10/03/2018 17:58

Fantastic taste! Good for her :)

Cadence70 omg how totally cool!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/03/2018 17:59

Could be worse.
My eldest, age 7, likes heavy metal.
DH has got him listening to this Scandinavian stuff which does my nut in.
My 3 year old has more adventurous tastes and has been quite happily listening to the Ink Spots recently.
