Guns n Roses. Why?

Without my knowledge DD (6) has trawled Spotify only to proclaim that her favourite song is Welcome to the Jungle and she loves Guns n Roses.

How can this possibly have happened. I have done my best to get it right, really I have. Please help. What can I do?

Unfortunately the new Jumanji is a 12 and she's only 6 now.

I love November Rain. When I was 17 I got dumped by letter and he quoted November Rain in it.

Now when I hear it I remember what an idiot he was and how much better my life is that he is not a part of it.

Both my dc are into all sorts of rock/metal (although dd also has a penchant for musicals) unsurprising as dh and I are both rock fans. I remember ds aged around 3 at the time hearing an advert for CBeebies radio where they said they would play your favourite song. He asked me if they would play his if he phoned and asked. I said they might, what is it? One by Metallica. Probably not then son!

Singlebutmarried · 10/03/2018 20:23

Our 6yo love a bit of gnr

Also, AC/DC, the Quo and McFly

TalkinPeace · 10/03/2018 20:26

Mildly outing
but I taught my half sister a stack of Hawkwind lyrics when she was a toddler.
They are still in the back of her brain even though she rarely admits it.

PROPER music is good for the soul.

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 10/03/2018 20:31

My dc have been raised on radio 6, my 90s rock.and punk years, dh's happy Mondays era....and Gram Parsons and the Handsome Family. They will probably not make many friends in school.

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 10/03/2018 20:32

And ds on John Grant:"is this the sweary man?"

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 10/03/2018 20:37

I come downstairs most mornings to find the DCs shouting "Alexa, play..." and this week overheard DS2 command "Alexa, play Hall and Oates You Make My Dreams Come True" and DS1 shouting "for the love of God, just let me listen to The Doors, you fool".

I love that neither has much interest in pop music.

You have done a great job. My 10 year old is into the most awful rap stuff. Give me Guns n Roses any day!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 10/03/2018 20:39

DS loved GnR, Queen, Motorhead and The Sweet as a small boy but his big love was My Chemical Romance. He used to insist on black skinny jeans, black hoodies with skulls on and big skater trainers until he was about 13, from about 6. He even had an emo haircut. He now likes dance and RnB, which makes me quite sad.

theWarOnPeace · 10/03/2018 20:46

Better than my 4yo singing every day for months “I don’t wanna be alive, I don’t wanna be a-liiiive, I just wanna die today....” 😩

jmh740 · 10/03/2018 20:46

It's the theme tune for jumanji, introducing great music to a new generation

TERFragetteCity · 10/03/2018 20:48

Can I bagsie Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs? He makes me swoon.

Too late mate, you dont want my sloppy seconds.

NewMinouMinou · 10/03/2018 20:53

DD, almost nine, loves Nirvana and always used to refer to Kurt as “...the boy who looked like but died...”

My god though, Axl was summink else. I could stare at those old photos for hours.

Yogafailure · 10/03/2018 20:53

I'd be delighted that she wasn't into the crap that passes for music these days old and grumpy One of my finest parenting moments was when I sang "With the lights out...."and all 3 dc (then 4, 13 and 11) sang back "it's less dangerous.." My kids know a wide range of music and went to a G&S show with us this week too. Not that I love Gilbert and Sullivan but we know a lot of the cast 😂😂

RJnomore1 · 10/03/2018 20:57

Good lord axl is 56.

ForalltheSaints · 10/03/2018 20:59

Why do you need help OP? I cannot think of a reason.

Singlebutmarried · 10/03/2018 21:00

DH and I went to see gnr last summer.

Waited years to see them.

They did it disappoint

Singlebutmarried · 10/03/2018 21:00

DID NOT. NOT IT 🙈🙈

When DH was alive he and DD used to travel around the UK visiting family because his work patterns allowed this. I therefore ended up with a pre-schooler word perfect in Bob Dylan lyrics.

GirlsBlouse17 · 10/03/2018 21:12

Fantastic! She has good taste

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/03/2018 21:16

omni just attach it using the paperclip. 😆
