I don't want this to be a TAAT but my post was triggered about something I read today about someone being a "woman with a penis" generally threads I've been reading about stores amending their changing room policies and more.

I'm not versed enough on the subject and I don't understand how that can pass?? Please excuse my questioning but I'm very new to the discussion and would like someone to clarify this for me.

Surely if you're a biological man who feels he is a woman and wants to be acknowledged as a woman and is truly committed to it you have a sex change? - and you shouldn't be allowed into female spaces until you've undergone that?
How can you possibly expect to be treated like a woman AND keep your male genitals?

Some men, particularly older men, who decide to live within society's gender norms for women get a sexual thrill from it. This is called AGP. The do not get a sex change because they would not be able to orgasm if they removed their penis.

And i'm not 100% sure of the stats but I think it's around 80% of 'transwomen' don't have surgery.

Also if the new laws surrounding self id go through any man can declare themselves a woman, they don't have to have a diagnosis of gender dsyphoria or have lived as a woman for any amount of time. Apparently if you are a man who "feels" he she is a woman, then you absolutely are one, exactly the same as me a person with xx chromosomes, a vagina and who has given birth and if you don't agree you are literally killing them with your cis privilege violence.

Smile this is a major strength of the transactivist movement, isn't it? When you repeat them word-for-word, people still unfamiliar with the rhetoric will not be entirely sure if you're serious. A... female penis? Okay, but... I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron, since sex classifications are based on actual sex-based physical characteristics, with nothing to do with feelings or socialisation or gender roles, so obviously you wouldn't literally say a penis is... is it, like, a symbolic statement? Saying there are people born male who choose/need to live as women, and we should respect this and not go out of our way to point out differences?

Nope. Old news. A woman can have a penis. No debate. If you have an issue with that then you're being transphobic.

But, even when you explain this, I think people still suspect that you're only talking about one or two very extreme voices, just for dramatic effect. People need to see the actual mainstream trans rhetoric in action, and I'm glad it's getting more exposure: everyone should understand the level of cognitive dissonance into which we're being bullied.

Genitals don't have a gender... Wtf?? Isn't it amazing that so few "women" with dicks are happy to be released from that particular burden? So attached are they, in fact, that they've deluded themselves into imagining they have a ladies version of a penis??
The whole thing is so very surreal and frankly frightening, I can't get my head around why it's not being treated as the mental aberration that it so clearly is.

In the US, there is a big reason why someone might not have gender reassignment surgery- expense. It might not be covered under their insurance. I don't know what the NHS policy on this is, but I wouldn't imagine that you can go to your GP and say "I want gender reassignment surgery" and get it the same day.

Any surgery on those bits probably carries some risk of loss of sexual functioning.

I don't know what transwomen who still have penises think of themselves, or what they do in bed. But I have no plans to go to bed with one, so I figure it really isn't my problem. And I like it when things are not my problem.
