Or do you not wash your feet and legs in the shower?

Just a simple as it sounds. When I have a shower if I am not washing my hair I wash my armpits, the front of my body and my nether regions. Maybe down each arm and sometimes my neck. Literally never ever ever wash my legs unless I am shaving them. Also my feet never ever get washed. Seriously.

My husband thinks I am totally disgusting. Am I being unreasonable here or does the water dripping down my body do enough for my legs and feet? I think it does.

I think the problem is often the lack of space in those tiny showering cubicles that people have? No space for manoeuvring. Bath is different and easier to scrub from head to toe. But then many people don't rinse themselves off after a bath so I'm not sure if that's any better really.

SlowlyShrinking · 22/12/2017 23:07

Face, feet and forks is a minimum standard, imo. Some people are smellier than others though. I wouldn’t feel clean if I didn’t use soap on my feet.

froshiechipandbrickie · 22/12/2017 23:07

“I wash my hair, arm pits, groin and feet in that order. Obviously if they're actually muddy or dirty I'll wash them but otherwise I just let the water from the shower clean them.”

Well, in this case I definitely agree with the men’s health editor. But I don’t wash my hair everyday.

Do you use soap or body wash? I tend to use ‘shower oil’ in winter. DH used to think that this was rather disgusting as well... (he uses a bar of soap.)

rubbishtalker · 22/12/2017 23:14

Well i am no less than thrilled with this!! I absolutely thought that I was going to be destroyed for this but it seems about 90% at least are in the shower-flood-puddle-wash gang.

This has been the subject of some debate between DH and I and u an taking some delight in reading these comments to him!!!!

This made me laugh coz I'm the same and I often wondered if it was just me

bretonknickers · 22/12/2017 23:19

I sit on the floor of the shower and wash them.
Usually when I CBA standing up.
Except when I was pregnant and found getting back up an issue.

buttfacedmiscreant · 22/12/2017 23:25

I dump some soap on the floor of the shower and use the texture of the tile and grout to clean the bottoms of my feet, then I rub my soapy foot over the top of my other foot. That is plenty.

Fungal infections etc come from fungus, not from dirt.

Verbena37 · 22/12/2017 23:37

In a bath of soapy bubbles no, I wouldnt wash my feet but I do wash them with soap in the shower....very carefully otherwise I’d fall over!

If you’re shower is slow to drain, I’d assume the soapy water was enough really to give them soak.

As for legs, nope, just shower water from other body parts being washed and dripping down and then yes, when shaving them.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 22/12/2017 23:37

😂. The thing we discuss 🤣

Legs get properly washed! Inner thighs are right on up there with your bits, once you’ve washed there you might as well wash down your legs, then feet. I make sure they’re well rinsed and use the other foot to keep rinsing under the water in order not to slip over.

I do wish they’d put the bloody things a bit higher up though! 😂

MagentaRose72 · 22/12/2017 23:43

Maybe OP has a dog....they love to lick cheesy feet clean [fgrin

LBOCS2 · 22/12/2017 23:50

To throw a curve ball in... i wash the top of my feet but not the bottom, and quite often miss out my lower legs too. The cuticles on my toenails can be quite stubborn and the best way to keep them under control is to given them a bit of a scrub after they have soaked in the shower pool for a few minutes. So I bend down, swipe at them a bit, then carry on rinsing off. I'm not standing on one leg in the shower to wash them though.

twotired · 22/12/2017 23:51

I don't wash my legs or feet in the shower unless I'm shaving.

feckityfeckfeck · 22/12/2017 23:53

I think it really depends on your body. I don't wash my feet unless I've been walking around barefoot and they are actually dirty. My feet don't really sweat or smell. I can go without socks and my trainers still don't smell. But I have a friend who is quite overweight and she says her thighs and feet sweat. So yeah if they smell or sweat they would get washed but they don't.

Rainbowmother · 23/12/2017 00:00

My (now adult) step son is smelly and when he was a teen, I once insisted he take a shower as he was literally stinking out our small flat. He came out just as smelly as he hadn't properly washed all over and was baffled that I expected him to wash his hair.

I scrub every inch (except my hair) every day with shower gel and one of those Pom poms. I'm sure I'd probably smell ok doing it your way.

I just have major hang ups with being the once smelly kid as my parents only gave me a bath once a month with no products, just water. I did sports / dance every day and was told quite a few times I smelt. When I hit secondary school I realised mums way wasn't normal and went completely the other way, doing 12 step skin care regimes and the like

RaspberryOverdidTheMulledWine · 23/12/2017 00:01

Ex has really smelly feet. But that's because he only washes them in the bath or shower, of which he had maybe one a week. He washed daily, but cold water, no soap and not including the feet. Had about 3-4 pairs of shoes including work boots. Yet would go on about a cold wash being good enough.

I wash my feet daily, either in the shower or at the sink. My feet can get really sweaty but don't smell.

For those with itchy legs/feet, I've been told using bar soap is better than liquid soap or shower gel. I do use a flannel or scrunchie for exfoliation.

Rainbowmother · 23/12/2017 00:03

One a week I mean Grin as a child I only had a bath once a week and it most certainly was not enough

CakeNinja · 23/12/2017 00:04

I never used to wash legs and feet until
I saw dp shower. One massive squirt of shower gel for each limb, and one each for feet Grin
No wonder we go through so much fucking shower gel! I do my legs and feet although not with the same vigour as he does, he really goes for it whereas mine is a more halfhearted attempt.
Never scrubbed between my toes or even dried them and don’t have any foot infections or athletes foot etc either.
Also, I don’t have smelly feet. Someone would have mentioned if I did!

Tartyflette · 23/12/2017 00:39

I swim every day so my feet never get really dirty but I wash them in the bidet if I've been walking around barefoot in the kitchen Other than that, they just get rinsed off daily in the shower.

ethelfleda · 23/12/2017 00:54

Always wash my legs - using a sponge exfoliates them as well as cleans them!

ethelfleda · 23/12/2017 00:57

I wax my legs though and have for years so they don't 'get a wash when I shave'

Argeles · 23/12/2017 01:01

Just lift up one foot at a time and give them a good scrub. I’m 27 weeks pregnant and still do this, and did so throughout my first pregnancy.

Feet are potentially one of the smelliest parts of the body, and prone to fungal infections they need a good clean, not just some soapy water swilling around them that’s just fallen from washing your armpits and arse.

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 23/12/2017 01:08

I shower once every two days . When I do - pits, parts, face, the front or my body and neck, hair. I assume the water running has cleaned my arms/legs/feet, unless I know my feet to be particularly filthy.

Ontopofthesunset · 23/12/2017 01:19

I have never met anyone whose feet didn't smell. I mean, not stinky hits you when you walk into a room smell, but close up a bit pongy at the end of the day. I suppose if you drove to work and never walked anywhere or did any exercise they might not smell much but these extraordinary fragrant feet must be very rare.

NKFell · 23/12/2017 01:30

What the shit?! Ain't nobody got time for washing legs! I mean come on how dirty can your legs get and they have all the soap and water running down them. I really need to clean out my plug hole (not a euphemism) because to be honest my feet get a bath every time I shower.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 23/12/2017 01:35

My feet never smell. Only exception is if I borrow someone else's trainers.
