Or do you not wash your feet and legs in the shower?

Just a simple as it sounds. When I have a shower if I am not washing my hair I wash my armpits, the front of my body and my nether regions. Maybe down each arm and sometimes my neck. Literally never ever ever wash my legs unless I am shaving them. Also my feet never ever get washed. Seriously.

My husband thinks I am totally disgusting. Am I being unreasonable here or does the water dripping down my body do enough for my legs and feet? I think it does.

Never wash them.

They get perfectly clean with just standing in the soapy water. If I had much in-between my toes I might, but that doesn't happen.

Willow2017 · 22/12/2017 22:36

I wash every inch!
Why wouldn't you?
Whats so special about your legs and feet that they dont need washing? They keep shedding skin cells same as everwhere else.

What about between your toes ?

Each to their own but i dont know why you wouldn't wash everything?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 22:36

I certainly never go delving Bryan my toes.

Which Bryan is grateful for, I’m sure! Grin

Skinfulnappies46 · 22/12/2017 22:37

With you all the way O.P. Feet never smelly. Obviously if they were dirty I would wash them but otherwise no. Legs too also neglected but they don't smell either and my skin is good. Never been told that I smell so why fix what ain't broke. Seriously, life is way too short 😉

TantrumsNSprouts · 22/12/2017 22:37

I'm ith you OP But I shower or bathe at night depending on how I feel, then shower every morning ...so can't imagine I'm dirty?

Nerv have smelly feet.

RestingGrinchFace · 22/12/2017 22:38

During summer I always give my feet a good scrub-they often get quite grimy in sandals and I don't want to go to bed with dirty feet. If they are fairly clean then they get a quick wash. I only wash my legs when I have shaved/exfoliated/they are dusty/sandy from outdoor summery activity.

Oakmaiden · 22/12/2017 22:39

Well, it is an interesting question. I do wash my feet, but the problem I always have is I can never decide if I ought to wash my feet first or my bum. I have often stood in the shower wondering what the average MNetter would consider the best order.

In general I start at the top and work down, washing my front bum area on the way down, but skipping my back bum "crack". After I wash my feet I go back and wash the bit I missed.

My logic is I think it is better to wipe my feet on my bum than to wipe my bum on my feet. But then I think I should probably have separate wash cloths. And then I think the liberal application of shower gel makes it a moot point anyway...

WineAndTiramisu · 22/12/2017 22:39

I only do it if they're actually dirty, it's never occurred to me either... Maybe I'll try it next shower!

Sallystyle · 22/12/2017 22:39

It really isn't grim.

My feet never smell. They only ever smelled when I did 12 hour shifts on my feet in horrible shoes. Apart from then they just don't smell.

It would be grim to walk around with smelly dirty feet. But if just standing in the shower is enough then why would it be grim?

MajesticWhine · 22/12/2017 22:40

I'm going to sit on the fence. If I've been running or doing sport or otherwise feeling quite mucky, then I will have a more thorough scrub all over. But generally, no, I don't bother. A thorough soaking in hot soapy water - which is what happens to your feet when you have a shower - is good enough.

RicottaPancakes · 22/12/2017 22:40

I just thought everyone washed their feet!

donajimena · 22/12/2017 22:40

No I don't. I don't get smelly feet either. My sense of smell is fine by the way even though a million mumsnetters will say I am just tolerant of my own rancidness...

Oakmaiden · 22/12/2017 22:42

Also - surely washing your feet helps to exfoliate them?

lurkingnotlurking · 22/12/2017 22:42

People pointing out that they wash their feet in summer - of course we all do! the point is about if they don't appear to be dirty. And I've just had mine up for a sniff - still lovely by bedtime ;)

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2017 22:44

It's not hard to just bend down and do your legs though unless you have a disability is it? Our shower is over the bath so I put my foot on the edge of the bath to wash it but if not in a bath-shower then I'd sit down in the shower cubicle.

pandarific · 22/12/2017 22:44

It has honestly never occurred to me to wash my feet and legs specifically. But I work in an office and don’t play any sports or anything, and have a couple of baths a week with an excellent scrubby brush thing I have, which I do do legs with then.

BestZebbie · 22/12/2017 22:45

So....does nobody else use a plug in the base of the shower, then?
I wash my hair with shampoo/conditioner and my body and limbs with soap/shower gel, by the end of which my feet are submerged in soapy water up to the ankle bone, exactly as if they were in a bath. It then only takes about two seconds to rub each one with the other a bit and clean between each toe with your hand, before pulling the plug out and going to the towel.

DryHeave · 22/12/2017 22:45

Always wash my feet. Legs get a wash by virtue of being shaved - so not every single shower.

Rossigigi · 22/12/2017 22:46

Everywhere everyday- you need to rub the dead skin cells off!!

TenancyTroublesAgain · 22/12/2017 22:46

I don't. All the soapy water rinsing off is hopefully enough ha.

Sallystyle · 22/12/2017 22:48

Everywhere everyday- you need to rub the dead skin cells off!!

Why do we need to? What even matters if I have some dead skin cells on my feet?

And doesn't drying yourself with a towel take off dead skin cells?

WillowySnicket · 22/12/2017 22:58

I had to really visualise wiping feet on bums or bums on feet. Made me lol.

I'm with you OP. although occasionally I have to pretend to wash my feet if my husband (a militant foot and leg washer...he does everything twice!) is there so he doesn't think I'm gross.

stickytoffeevodka · 22/12/2017 22:59

These threads fascinate me.

People presumably do what they've been raised to do, but you never consider your own washing habits to be odd until someone else talks about theirs.

I shower daily, wash my hair and shave legs, bits and pits, and have done since I hit my teen years. I find it odd that others don't, but they probably think I'm odd for doing what I do.

SilverDoe · 22/12/2017 23:05

I rarely shower I much prefer a lovely hot bubble bath even on work mornings, it's my luxury!I wash my feet and legs because it's easy in the bath so i wouldn't think not to.
