To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

Eh? They are children. They need quite a good mix of foods

moonmaker · 04/12/2017 20:10

Can you educate me as to what's wrong with a cheese and egg sandwich or have I misunderstood you ? And what's wrong with the picture , seems fine to me .

lovelyjubilly · 04/12/2017 20:10

What the heck are you talking about? On which planet is a cheese and egg sandwich bad for you?

LilyRose16 · 04/12/2017 20:10

really?

I expected to click on the picture and see cakes and chocolate from what you said in your post!

NC4now · 04/12/2017 20:10

Not sure I understand your objection? The dairy? It’s generally recommended for toddlers to have some calcium rich food for bone health - hence previously giving milk to infants in school.

ZoeWashburne · 04/12/2017 20:11

Are you saying meat and dairy are inherently unhealthy foods?

Cupcakegirl13 · 04/12/2017 20:12

Looks like a pretty normal balanced diet to me

BumWad · 04/12/2017 20:13

MN is full of them tonight!!! Grin

RemainOptimistic · 04/12/2017 20:14

DC need fats and proteins to grow and be healthy. Dairy for calcium. Most people choose animal products to fulfill those needs.

Nowt wrong with a cheese and egg sandwich so long as you have a nice big side salad? Maybe a lump of cress on top?

InDubiousBattle · 04/12/2017 20:14

What exactly are you pissed off about? That it recommends dairy?

leccybill · 04/12/2017 20:14

Really want a cheese and egg sandwich now.

Iloveanimals · 04/12/2017 20:15

Well OK then.... 😂

EdmundCleverClogs · 04/12/2017 20:16

I’m confused, this seems to be promoting a balanced diet, where is the issue?

As for

I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

Umm, 2007 is hardly that long ago. What was so drastically different back then?

ShatnersBassoon · 04/12/2017 20:17

Is cheese and egg a recognised sandwich filling? That would definitely coat the roof of your mouth. Claggy.

napmeistergeneral · 04/12/2017 20:17

YABU. Cancer, heart disease and diabetes? I can only assume you're exaggerating for shock value since giving a child a cheese and egg sandwich will cause none of these things. Children need to learn about balance and moderation, this is fundamental to a good diet and a healthy attitude towards food. Demonising certain foods or food groups is not useful, either for diet itself or for cultivating a sensible, informed attitude to food.

JaniceBattersby · 04/12/2017 20:17

Cheese and egg TOGETHER? No.

QueenUnicorn · 04/12/2017 20:18

Yes, YABU.
I think you need to read up more on healthy diets.

NorksAkimbo72 · 04/12/2017 20:19

No idea what your point is, OP...what about this are you opposed to??
I'm hoping OP means a fried egg and cheese sandwich...which, when you add bacon is food of the Gods...

Chilver · 04/12/2017 20:19

I'm assuming you are talking about fruit and dairy? Or carbs and dairy?

Children still need the wide range of nutrients from those food groups. I didn't realise the NHS and WHO had banned entire food groups?

PinkyBlunder · 04/12/2017 20:19

Good golly! What do you eat in your house OP?!

SconNotScone · 04/12/2017 20:19

Cheese and egg together. Ooof, not sure about that.

BumWad · 04/12/2017 20:21

Yea I’ve never had a cheese and egg sandwich either. As in together. Mind blown 🤯

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 04/12/2017 20:22

What's wrong with that plate? Xmas Confused

blueskyinmarch · 04/12/2017 20:22

I am not sure about an egg and cheese sandwich but those things are good together in a quiche. Or a little grated cheese in some scrambled egg. Can't see what the issue is. MN is SO weird sometimes.

Ecureuil · 04/12/2017 20:22

Err... I’m not sure what’s wrong with it?
