To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Me too...

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 05/12/2017 22:23

I really don't want anything associated with Keith Chegwin going down my throat.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 05/12/2017 22:28

A sentence I never thought I'd read! Xmas Grin

hazeyjane · 05/12/2017 22:29

This is just terrible. Something that has always been thought of as the fanciest of nibbles, tainted by lewd associations with Keith Chegwin. How could I never have seen the link. I am distraught.

"Oh, yeah, I have, like, LOADS of peer reviewed studies, but, like, you wouldn't know them, they go to another school."

Not sure if this has been mentioned but a cheese and egg baked potato is amazing!!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/12/2017 13:19

Meat, fish and eggs are good sources of protein for growing children. I cannot believe that anyone would argue otherwise.

And, as I said earlier, children NEED fat in their diets - a healthy diet for a child is different to a healthy diet for an adult.

In case this wasn't obvious. This thread has been swamped by trolls so a no longer wish to engage with them. Shame this couldn't have stayed an actual convocation. I should have really been expecting this from mumsnet I guess.

OP posts:
GerdaLovesLili · 07/12/2017 14:04

Butterflies There is indeed, definitely at least one troll on this thread.

Luckyme2 · 07/12/2017 14:07

But can you at least tell us what you feed your son though OP? Please?

MrsG841 · 07/12/2017 14:14

So because you cannot back up your post with the 'scientific' proof your blaming it on trolls..... ok then!

Coconutspongexo · 07/12/2017 14:21

Oh pull the other one OP

pastabakewithcheese · 07/12/2017 14:29

OP must be vegan

EdmundCleverClogs · 07/12/2017 14:32

This thread has been swamped by trolls so a no longer wish to engage with them.

If you believe anyone is ‘trolling’ then report them. That has nothing to do with you backing up your claims.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 07/12/2017 14:34

You are saying people don't understand nutrition and would they like you to show them some peer reviewed studies.

You have exactly explained why that simplified food chart exists. I would argue only nutritionists fully understand nutrition - most adults including myself will only know the fundamentals/basis. Children most definitely will not understand or be able to fully comprehend the results of peer reviewed studies! If a simple food chart outlining basic ideas gets young people thinking about food and health then as far as I'm concerned that's all to the good.

In what way does the chart go against NHS or WHO advice?

I also think you need to calm down about a cheese and egg sandwich. Proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The only thing it's really missing is fibre and that can be added to the side with the addition of carrot and cucumber sticks. That is a perfectly acceptable lunch for anyone. I would be really interested to see any peer reviewed journal article which actively refutes this.

Oh OP...

HateSummer · 07/12/2017 14:36

I feed my children fresh woodland air and moisture from clouds. Anything else is too risky.

PizzaPower · 07/12/2017 14:42

Well shouting troll is a new one. Thought you might have claimed the thread was in danger of outing you in real life and asking for it deleting. Still thanks for the laugh OP.

GrockleBocs · 07/12/2017 14:43

An 'actual convocation'?

HermionesRightHook · 07/12/2017 14:51

3/10 for the flounce OP. Accusing people of trolling because they disagree with you and we're joking about it is a weak flounce. You'd have got more marks for continuing with your "Oh I'm so busy" defence.

Highmaintenancefemalestuff · 07/12/2017 14:55

Always put cheese in scrambled egg mixture. It's yummy.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 07/12/2017 14:58

highmaintenance agreed. With a bit of parsley on top! (is parsley allowed, OP?)

Nacknick · 07/12/2017 17:48

Ooh yes, this could turn into an I am Spartacus thread...

I'm a troll* but I still want to see the peer reviewed studies you promised on page 4...

*ps, I'm not really a troll
